While closing out six weeks, it’s amazing how there can still feel like a wave of peace in my spirit. I’m playing worship music that keeps pumping up my feelings and it all points me back to God and how His plans for me are for good and His timing is perfect. So as I head into today looking to close the week strong, I am leaning in and trusting God rather than my own understanding and acknowledging Him so that He will be able to lead and guide my every thought and step forward.

Trust in the Lord and Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

One of the foundational scriptures about trusting in God is found in Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

This verse highlights the importance of placing complete trust in God’s wisdom and guidance rather than relying on our own limited understanding. The key takeaway here is that true peace comes from surrendering control to God and acknowledging His sovereignty in our lives.

Application:

To put this into practice, begin each day with prayer, asking God for wisdom and guidance. Actively seek His will in decisions, big or small, and be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading. When faced with uncertainty or stress, remind yourself of God’s faithfulness and choose to trust His plans over your fears or doubts.

Perfect Peace Through Steadfast Trust

Isaiah 26:3 offers a profound promise:

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."

This scripture reassures us that peace is a direct result of a steadfast mind focused on God. When we consistently keep our thoughts anchored on God’s character, promises, and presence, we experience His perfect peace, which transcends circumstances.

Application:

Cultivate a habit of meditating on God’s Word daily. Memorize scriptures that speak of His peace and faithfulness. Whenever anxiety or distractions arise, redirect your thoughts to these truths. Develop a routine of worship and thanksgiving, which helps to keep your mind focused on God’s goodness and maintains a steady flow of peace in your spirit.

Peace Through Prayer and Thanksgiving

Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us another critical aspect of experiencing God’s peace:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Here, we see that bringing our concerns to God in prayer, coupled with a heart of gratitude, leads to a supernatural peace that protects our hearts and minds.

Application:

Make it a practice to turn worries into prayers. Whenever you feel anxious, take a moment to pray and thank God for His blessings and faithfulness. Keep a journal of answered prayers and blessings to regularly remind yourself of God’s provision and goodness. This habit not only strengthens your trust in God but also fosters a peaceful heart.

Trusting God Brings Unshakeable Peace

In conclusion, trusting in God is the foundation for experiencing unshakeable peace in our lives. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to rely on God’s wisdom rather than our own understanding. Isaiah 26:3 emphasizes the peace that comes from steadfastly focusing on God, while Philippians 4:6-7 shows us that prayer and thanksgiving are essential to maintaining this peace. By incorporating these principles into our daily lives, we align ourselves with God’s perfect plan and experience the profound peace that comes from His presence.

Key Takeaway:

Trusting God fully, keeping our minds focused on Him, and consistently praying with thanksgiving are practical steps to experiencing God’s peace. By doing so, we allow His peace to guard our hearts and minds, providing stability and strength regardless of our circumstances.

1 Samuel 10

God’s Anointing Brings Peace

In 1 Samuel 10:1, Samuel anoints Saul, saying,

"Has not the Lord anointed you ruler over his inheritance?"

This act of anointing signifies God’s selection and blessing over Saul, bringing assurance and peace about his future role. Later, in 1 Samuel 10:6, Samuel tells Saul,

"The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person."

The Spirit’s presence brings transformation and peace.

Key Takeaway:

God’s anointing and presence bring peace and assurance, transforming us for His purposes.

Application:

As you seek employment, remember that God’s anointing is upon you for His purposes. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide and transform you, giving you peace and confidence in your job search. Trust that God has prepared a role where you can serve and glorify Him.

  • Saul Publicly Chosen King
    • Rights and Duties of kingship:
      • Governance and Justice:
        • Administer Justice: The king is responsible for ensuring justice is administered fairly. Proverbs 29:4 states, “By justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.” The king must lead with righteousness and fairness.
        • Protect the People: The king is to protect and defend the nation from enemies and ensure peace within the land. This is seen in 1 Samuel 9:16 where Saul is anointed to deliver Israel from the Philistines.
      • Spiritual Leadership:
        • Uphold the Law of God: The king must uphold and enforce the laws given by God. Deuteronomy 17:18-20 emphasizes that the king should read and follow the law of God: “When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law… and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.”
        • Lead in Worship and Religious Observance: The king should lead by example in worship and encourage the people to follow God. David’s example as a king who worshipped and sought God’s guidance highlights this role (Psalm 51).
      • Administration and Stewardship:
        • Manage Resources and Wealth: The king is to manage the nation’s resources wisely, avoiding excessive accumulation of wealth and ensuring the well-being of the people. Deuteronomy 17:16-17 warns against kings amassing large amounts of wealth or many wives, which could lead them astray.
        • Appoint Leaders and Officials: The king must appoint capable and trustworthy officials to assist in governance. Solomon’s establishment of administrative districts and appointment of officials is an example of this duty (1 Kings 4).

1 Samuel 11

Deliverance Through God’s Power

In 1 Samuel 11:6-7, when Saul hears about the plight of Jabesh Gilead, “the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he burned with anger.” Saul, empowered by the Spirit, leads Israel to victory. After the battle, in 1 Samuel 11:13, Saul attributes the victory to the Lord, saying, “No one will be put to death today, for this day the Lord has rescued Israel.”

Key Takeaway:

Deliverance and victory come through God’s power, bringing peace and relief from distress.

Application:

In your job search, rely on God’s power for deliverance and success. Pray for His intervention and trust that He will provide the right opportunity. Celebrate and acknowledge God’s provision when He answers, bringing peace and testimony of His faithfulness.

Key Takeaway:

Reflecting on God’s past faithfulness encourages trust and peace for the future.

Application:

As you wait for a job, take time to reflect on and journal God’s past faithfulness in your life. Let these memories build your faith and peace as you trust Him for your current needs. Serve God faithfully in whatever capacity you can, knowing that He is working all things for your good.

Today is a day that thanks to Jesus is filled with inspiration. So let us make sure we receive the gift of grace through Jesus by faith in Him and step up and out to accomplish all the good works He has prepared in advance for us to accomplish. If you haven’t received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not choose today to be the day your life is transformed and you become a new creation and start the journey of becoming everything God created, purposed, and planned for you to be?

Let’s pray:

Dear God, I admit I am a sinner and need your forgiveness; I believe that Jesus Christ died in my place paying the penalty for my sins. I am willing right now to turn from my sin and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord. I commit myself to you and ask you to send the Holy Spirit into my life, to fill me and take control, and to help me become the kind of person you want me to be. Thank you Father for loving me. In Jesus' name. Amen
