THRIVE: Live for today, remembering the past.

On September 11th, 2001 as I was preparing to go to work and watching the morning news, I was captured by the picture on the screen and trying to figure out what was going on as there was a plane stuck in a building. As I was watching, a second plane hit the other building and I was stuck in shock, not sure what was going on in the world.

As I wake up this morning all these years later, I still remember that moment of shock, praying for the people and then hearing news throughout the day about a plane that crashed in a field and another that crashed near the pentagon.

Passengers took control over the terrorists and the plane crashed in Pennsylvania.

Well, it’s 9/11/2022 today. Let’s remember how this attack created unity within the country and amongst the people. Let’s remember how people were turning back to God and by having God at the center people were drawn back together. Let’s remember how this attack strengthened our trust in God because He was the only thing we could depend on in the midst of the craziness and the chaos. Let’s remember the people who lost their lives trying to rescue the people who were in the twin towers. Let’s remember the people who ran into buildings while everyone else was trying to escape. Let’s remember the bravery of the passengers on the plane that took down the terrorist rather than allowing them to attack the country! Let’s remember all the people who lost their lives during this attack on the USA. Let’s take a moment to remember and reflect on the past and not allow ourselves to become divided and angry by the lies of the devil, the tricks generating deception, and the ploys to cause us to focus on the wrong things.

Let’s put first things first! Let’s choose to put God first and live our lives as salt and light! Let’s choose to put God first and live our lives pouring hope and love into the world around us! Let’s choose to put God first and attack the problems rather than each other! Let’s choose to put God first and look to install healing in the lives of the broken people around us! Let’s choose to put God first and decide to live in accordance with His will and His way so that others will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven! Let’s choose to put God at the center of our lives, our relationships, and our world, and all lean in trusting in Him rather than our own understanding, seeking and acknowledging Him, and allowing Him to lead and guide us, showing us which path to take! Let’s grab hold of the reality that we need to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and then allow Him to take care of the rest! Let’s make today count and in spite of and because of our circumstances, let’s live our lives so that God will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. God’s plan for us is good! God’s plan is to take what the enemy desired for evil and turn it around and use it for good! So let’s pursue God, God’s will, and spend time in God’s Word for our good and His glory!
