First Tuesday of 2022, a year that has kicked off with a theme of THRIVE, a day that has kicked off with the theme of renewal, and the importance of planting lots of seeds and knowing that they are good seeds because whatever you sow you will also reap.
In the beginning, God wanted to make sure we understood the importance of seeds and so on the third day:
‘Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. ‘Genesis 1:11-13
God’s Word speaks to the impact of knowing what you are sowing and how it will make a difference:
‘Whoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken. ‘Proverbs 22:8
‘Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. But you have planted wickedness, you have reaped evil, you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your own strength and on your many warriors, the roar of battle will rise against your people, so that all your fortresses will be devastated— as Shalman devastated Beth Arbel on the day of battle, when mothers were dashed to the ground with their children. ‘Hosea 10:12-14
So let’s consider as we reach the 4th day of this new year what seeds we have, what seeds we sow, how we will sow, and what it will mean in terms of what we will reap.
‘ “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” ‘Luke 6:37-38
‘ “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. ‘Luke 6:43-45
‘Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. ‘Galatians 6:7
‘Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.’Psalms 126:5-6
God also demonstrated His love by sowing in order to bring salvation to this world, taking things into His own hands because He knew we were unable to take care of it on our own and so He sowed once it has caused an eternal harvest! So will you receive this seed and plant such faith into your life and the world around you?
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. ‘John 3:16-18
So are you ready for renewal? Are you ready to turn to God and ask Him to create a clean heart and renew a right spirit in you? Are you ready to do something different and not conform to the ways of this world but instead ask God to transform you by the renewing of your mind, the testing of your faith to build discernment of what is good, acceptable, and perfect? Are you ready to wait on the Lord in order to have your strength renewed so that you can walk out this life without fainting and run and not grow weary? So let’s receive Jesus and accept Him into our lives today, putting on our new self that is being renewed in the knowledge of God, our creator!
Now let’s renew ourselves by reading the Lord’s Prayer:
