THRIVE: Be prepared and ready to learn…

What an incredible first day yesterday was. What incredible people I had the opportunity to meet with and hear from. What energy, excitement, passion, and promise I could feel joining the team. I am ready to learn. I am prepared to do my part. I am excited to see what God has in store for me and for all those He brings into my life through this new experience. The getting started stuff I was able to get most of that paperwork done beforehand but finished the last couple yesterday and then hit the ground running.

As I begin chapter 3 of my journey with both the first two chapters finishing with a sign that allowed me to transition out quickly and into the next chapter just as fast, I realize the importance of putting God’s will first! Stay as long as He wants you to stay and when He says to go, then prepare to go wherever it is that He is calling you to go! I realize the importance of obedience to the prompting as I remember how back in my MS days I received the prompting to go but I kept responding with how much I liked the people and was so comfortable in the role, and now I realize the reason He was trying to protect me from what was coming down the pipe and because I didn’t listen I ended up going through some pretty painful reorgs and challenges. I remember how important it is to listen to the still quiet voice when God is prompting you to do something rather than looking for reasons or excuses why you couldn’t, shouldn’t, or wouldn’t obey Him during my time on an HOA for about ten thousand plus people and it taking an audible, booming, ultimatum to get my attention and for me to take it seriously. So if and when God gives you a sign like “get out of the boat” or “it’s time to move” or “an offer”, it’s time to get moving and moving forward for the glory of God so that you can thrive in all that He has planned and purposed to do in and through your life. Especially if it comes to you as a command from God.

Verse of the Day:

‘ “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. ‘

John 13:34

Today’s post from Be The Dads is The Heart Of The Father – Day 4

This is the day that the Lord has made so let’s rejoice and be glad in it! Let’s get up and get ready! Let’s get up and be prepared! Let’s be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and then walk out today in alignment with God’s purpose, plan, and will! Let’s invite Jesus into our situations. Let’s invite Jesus into our hearts and lives! Let’s choose to accept the gift of grace that opens the door into eternity with God!

Let’s Pray!

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THRIVE: Need to get ready…

Some may take time between changes. Some may take a pause before stepping into the next thing. Some may choose to take a weekend and then get right back at it.

Whatever they choose that is right for them, in every case it comes down to setting yourself up to be ready for what’s next. What does it take for you to get ready? How do you get ready? Are you prepared? Are you ready in and out of season? Are you dressed for success? Are you standing on a firm foundation? Are you ready to stand your ground and move forward for the glory of God? Are you ready to take on new territory that God is giving you? Are you ready to step up and step into all that God has prepared in advance for you to do and receive? We need to get ready!

“be prepared in season and out of season”

2 Timothy 4:2

‘ “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. ‘

Matthew 24:42-44

‘Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. ‘

1 Peter 5:8

‘Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. ‘

Proverbs 27:1

‘Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty. A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished. ‘

Proverbs 28:19-20

‘Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. ‘

Proverbs 6:6-8

‘Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. ‘

Ephesians 6:10-17

‘“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” ‘

Joshua 1:7-9

‘Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. ‘

1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Are you ready? Are you ready to thrive? Are you prepared? Are you prepared to thrive? What comes to mind when you see this picture below? Does it go something like:

Let’s get ready to …..

THRIVE: Are you ready? Are you getting ready? Will you be ready?

Can you believe how fast seems to be going? It’s midweek already and we’ll be heading towards the close of the week in a few hours. So let’s be ready when it’s our turn and our time! Let’s be ready when our number is called! Let’s get ready now and be prepared! Let’s be equipped for what is coming our way so that we can thrive for the glory of God!

So first let’s make sure we are equipped and put on the full armor of God as we get up this morning!

‘And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no weekend war that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. Ephesians 6:10-18

Now that we are dressed for success, let’s get ready!

‘But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, ‘

1 Peter 3:15

‘In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. ‘

2 Timothy 4:1-5

‘Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty. A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished. ‘

Proverbs 28:19-20

‘ “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. ‘

Matthew 24:42-44

‘Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. ‘

1 Peter 5:6-11

‘ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”’

John 16:33

‘Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. ‘

Proverbs 6:6-8

‘By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. ‘

Hebrews 11:7

So today let’s be ready! Let’s get ready! Let’s press in and trust God! Let’s persevere and not give up! Let’s move forward in unity at the speed of health! Let’s decide that we will thrive for the glory of God!

Verse of the Day:

‘A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. ‘

Psalms 68:5

Today’s post from Be The Dads is My Father Can Be Your Father! – Day 6

Where are you today? Are you ready? Are you getting prepared? Have you invited Jesus into the situation that you are in so that He can make sure you are ready and prepared? Have you invited Jesus into your heart so that He can make sure you are ready for eternity?

If you pray today’s prayer with me feel free to let me know so I can pray with you and for you too. (If you don’t feel comfortable leaving a comment then you can always try email or text.

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. Are you ready to pass the baton? Is there someone who is ready to take it?

Ever watched a relay race where they have to pass the baton within a certain area to another person who is already running in order to complete the race? Do you realize how important it is to have someone to pass the baton to? Do you realize how important it is to have someone ready to receive the baton? Do you realize the impact of making the transition smoothly? Do you realize the benefit to the outcome when we have planned, practiced, and are prepared for the transition? Let’s pause and review the analogy of a race and passing the baton before we consider how this applies to our lives.

Jamaica getting the world-record victory in the 4×100 meter race

It’s not just about how you start. It’s about the connection. It’s about the training. It’s about practice and repetition. It’s about perfecting the pace. If you are too fast then it will mess up the transition. If you are too slow it will mess up the transition. If you are in sync the transition is smooth and the pace forward won’t miss a beat.

If you want each year better then the transition needs to be smooth. If you want each area of focus to get better then the transition needs to be practiced and repeated. If you want to pass the baton to the next generation then you need to make sure they are ready to keep up the pace, receive it, and move forward. So we need to have succession planning! Do you have someone you are mentoring? Do you have someone who is ready to take the baton and keep moving forward without missing a beat? Do you have someone who has been training and preparing for such a day and such a time?

Ever considered how the word success is a part of succession?

"the new king was already elderly at the time of his succession"

Definition of Succession

Ever considered that it takes planning for succession to work? Ever considered that it takes planning for succession to succeed? Ever considered that if you want succession to be a success you need to be planning in advance? How are ahead do you think it needs to be? How long does it take to help someone get ready and be ready to take the baton? It probably depends on the race you are asking them to run and the skills and talents required to do it. So what role(s) do you have? What is/are your succession plans? Do you know or have candidates to pass the baton over to?

  • Succession planning is a process of developing the talent of the employees to meet the needs of the organization now and in the future.
  • Succession Planning can be defined as a purposeful and systematic effort made by an organization to ensure leadership continuity, retain and develop knowledge and intellectual capital for the future and encourage individual employee growth and development.
  • Succession: a number of persons or things following one another in order or sequence.
  • Success: The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals. A performance or achievement that is marked by success.
  • Succeed: to thrive, prosper, grow, or the like
  • Succession Planning:
    • Strategic, systematic and deliberate effort to develop competencies in potential leaders through proposed learning experiences such as targeted rotations and educational training in order to fill high-level positions without favoritism.(Mathew Tropiano, 2004)
    • Deliberate and systematic effort by an organization to ensure leadership continuity in key positions and encourage individual advancement. (St-Onge, Mercer)
    • A structured process involving the identification and preparation of potential successors to assume a new roles.

Do you realize the importance? Do you realize the biblical application and examples? Do you realize that you need it? What are you going to do about it? What will you do if it happens before you are ready? What will you do if you don’t have someone in place? Why not consider it and get started today? What is the process? What are steps to have? Dig in and see what you can find. Succession Planning…

Succession Planning

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

‘Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.’

Acts 15:39-41

Let’s look back and get some additional context from this story and see what we can learn through it. Let’s expand on it too using the Amplified version.

‘After some time Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the brothers and sisters (believers) in every city where we preached the message of the Lord, and see how they are doing.” Now Barnabas wanted to take [his cousin] John, who was called Mark, along with them. But Paul kept insisting that they should not take along with them the one who had quit and deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work. And it became such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took [John] Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus. But Paul chose Silas [who was again in Antioch] and set out [on his second journey], commended by the brothers to the grace and favor of the Lord. And he traveled through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.’

Acts 15:36-41

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • Ever had a disagreement?
  • Ever been unable to agree on the outcome?
  • Ever had to deal with division?
  • Ever turned to God to see if maybe He is adjusting the plan(s)?
  • Ever considered how sometimes struggle or disagreements or division are required to bring about change?
  • We see in Acts how Paul and Barnabas had been knocking it out of the part on their journey.
  • Together they were able to bring the gospel to many places and establish churches along the way.
  • They had brought someone along who eventually deserted Paul and as such it caused some division between the two.
  • God used that time to build two teams and we can read later how the relationship with the one who had deserted Paul had been restored.
  • The division wasn’t on the basis of belief but rather on if they should bring John Mark or not.
  • The disagreement wasn’t between right and wrong but rather it was about taking a risk.
  • Since they both weren’t willing to take the risk they chose to divide and conquer with Paul taking Silas and Barnabas taking John Mark.
  • Leadership demands hard choices!
  • Leadership demands hard choices about people.
  • Leadership demands hard choices that aren’t always cut and dry.
  • Different leaders bring different perspectives and as such may not come to the same decision.
  • Different leaders bring different perspectives and as such may not be able to come to an agreement.
  • So as leaders we need to make a decision and move forward.
  • We see how in today’s example 1 team became and 2 and in so doing produced double the effectiveness.
  • It may not have been the plan but it was the choice that was made.
  • The choice was God’s plan and solution to the disagreement.
  • God sometimes has solutions that we may never have considered.
  • God sometimes has solutions that may require a heated disagreement to be created.
  • God’s plans and solutions though do produce more for the Kingdom.
  • So don’t be afraid of disagreements.
  • State your opinion and seek common ground.
  • Then look to find God’s wisdom and direction to guide you in the plan forward for His glory.
  • God has a plan for you.
  • God has a plan for those around you.

DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
  • Would you have given John Mark a second chance? Why or why not?
  • What ground rules and expectations should be put in place when Christians disagree?

Are you filled up and ready to go?

So you woke up this morning from a night of sleep and how do you feel? Rested? Tired? Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Have you filled up? Are you feeling ready to go? Are you physically ready? Are you mentally ready? Are you emotionally ready? Are you spiritually ready?

If I told you that as I write this I have woken up, worked out, shaved and showered, and am digging into God’s Word as I write up today’s blog post, what would you think?

To get ready for the day, what do you need to do? Does it require food for your body? Does it require food for your soul? Does it require a kick like caffeine? Does it require a kick like sugar? Does it require a kick like the Word of God? What does it take for you to be fully ready for your today?

For me I know I need to have my God time for me to be ready for the day. I need to get filled up with God’s Word. I need to get filled up with God’s presence. I need to get filled up with God’s Spirit. For man can’t live by bread alone but rather requires the bread of life which is the Word of God!

I have found that my attitude is better when I start my day off this way. I found my patience is better when I start my day off this way. I have found my hope and joy are greater when I start my day off this way. I have found that my wisdom and direction are better when I start my day off this way.

So are you ready to be filled to overflow from the water that will prevent you from ever thirsting again?

So do you want to make a difference today? Do you want to make today count? Do you want to be a change agent? Do you want to be a part of doing something, living today for a greater good? Are you ready to live your life in a way that will glorify God? Are you ready to make time and take time before you start your day to hear from God?

Let’s get filled up and ready to go!

Are you ready to get creative and use the gifts God has given you?

Imagine being a kid who never really liked language classes (English, French), never liked reading, never liked writing and yet got by thanks to some patient and incredible teachers. They taught me things that stuck even though at the time it may have felt like it wasn’t sticking. I realized when I got to university and took an English class that felt real basic (because of my great English teachers in High School) and so I passed with great grades. It was a required class because those English proficiency exams were so weird that I had too much of a challenge trying to answer the question rather than just ignoring them and using proper writing techniques to write an answer on that paper. But God was planting those seeds for a reason. God was putting that knowledge in place for a reason. He then in 2005 called me to start writing a blog, and not just any blog, a blog that had to be available to the public. It was a calling to use creativity to share what He was speaking to me through His Word with anyone who was willing to read it and now with the cool plug-in that is available in WordPress, a podcast too. I haven’t had time yet to try and record the readings myself, but the tool gives me the choice of two voices to read my blog for me. So I am extending the reach of sharing the message God is speaking to me and over me with the world through a blog and a podcast. The blog name comes from my reading back in 2005 when it began that was the book of Revelation and hence the message of to eternity and so that is why you are finding this blog post on from2005toeternity.wordpress.com. After a crazy year with a them of hindsight is 2020, 2021 begins and the blogs are extending to podcasts with the name God’s story through my life from 2005 to eternity…

My reading today, which since 2020 I have started to become a reader while exercising and have now made it through 6 books and am currently reading The Power Of A Half Hour by Tommy Barnett, caused me to take hold of the reality of creativity and how God has used it now for over a decade and will continue to the day He calls me to spend eternity with Him in heaven. I almost took a break from reading in order to change up my workout program and when I walked by my entertainment unit in my loft area, the book caught my attention and I am 18 days in now. God’s not done with this reading kick yet. God’s not done with this blogging kick yet. God’s just getting started with this podcasting kick. What creativity is He going to use in and through my life? What creativity is He going to use in and through your life? Not only at home but also at church, at work, and other places in the community? This is the day that the Lord has made, so let’s rejoice and be glad in it! Let’s take the gifts and talents He has given us and work as unto the Lord so as the bring Him the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Will you allow God to do what He said He can do because with God all things are possible?

Making the Impossible a Reality

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAYMatthew 8:13

‘Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.’

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • How much do you believe?
  • How much do you have to hear or read to be obedient?
  • How much do you have to hear or read to receive?
  • How much faith do you have?
  • Do you believe in Jesus?
  • Do you trust Him completely?
  • How humble are you?
  • How high do you exalt God?
  • Does Jesus have to show up for you to believe?
  • Do you need to have Him present for it to be real?
  • Would you be able to just let Him speak the words and trust that it will happen?
  • Consider the centurion’s response to Jesus when he had asked Jesus to heal his sick servant.
    • ‘Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it. ” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.’ — Matthew 8:5-13
  • Do you trust God’s authority?
  • Do you trust His ability to put the right authority over you at the right time for His purposes?
  • Can you take hold of and remember that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose?
  • Do you trust God enough to believe that the heart of the king is in His hand and so everyone who is in authority over you has been put there by God?
  • Will you be a part of the believers or the doubters?
  • Will you trust Jesus or do you feel threatened by Him?
  • Will you believe Jesus can and will intervene in your needs in life?
  • Do you believe, like the centurion did, that Jesus is so immensely powerful that He just has to speak it to make it happen?
  • Do you have that great of faith? Do you have friends who are able to share their faith?
  • Do you understand authority enough to get it?
  • Do you understand the nature of authority?
  • Do you have enough experience with authority that it can help your faith?
  • Do you have insight in to how earthly authority relates to God’s authority?
  • How will God work in and through you, be it near or far, for the glory of His kingdom?
  • What experiences have you had to help you believe?
  • What experiences have you had to help you believe more fully?
  • What an experiences that showed or was learned through authority?
  • What an experiences that showed or was learned through mercy and kindness?
  • What patterns from the past are helping to give you a stronger faith today?

DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
Do you have a great respect for authority or perhaps a deep appreciation for grace and kindness? Describe it.
  • God has put leaders into positions of authority over the years in order to help direct my path and my career.
  • Some have been there and it has been incredible filled with grace and kindness.
  • Some have been there and it has been troubling but for a purpose that I couldn’t see in the moment but the troubles helped build my faith, helped me lean on God more, helped me realize that God had put them there on purpose, with purpose, and for a purpose, giving them authority in that time to do what was needed to cause change.
How can your past, positive experiences strengthen your faith for today?
  • It can show that even when I don’t think I can, God can! If He calls me to it, then He will get me through it!
  • It can show that even in bad times, being obedient quickly can reduce the suffering.
  • It can show that even in the bad times, God can turn it around and use it for good in my life and the life of others!
  • It can show that even in the bad times, by starting on the right footing will make it more bearable going forward.
  • All things are possible for those who believe!
  • God’s timing is perfect!
  • And even when getting to the book of Job I have had times where I was like “oh no, now what”, ever since 2013 when I was there and took hold of Job 42:12, it has changed it because I know from the past that I am in the moment and God’s plan for me is good, not for evil, to give me a hope and a future! I know that Jesus came that I can have life and life to the full!

QUOTE(S) FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:

“I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up by asking God to do His work through me.”

What does getting prepared look like to you?

What do you need to do mentally? What do you need to do physically? What do you have to do spiritually? Do you take the time to make sure you are prepared? Do make the time to make sure you are prepared? Do you put in the effort to be prepared? Do you see the fruits of your labor for having been prepared?

What are you preparing for? Is it related to your home life? Is it related to your work life? Is it related to your entire life? Is it related to your spiritual life? What are you ready for? Are you ready to give an answer for the hope that is within you? Are you ready to consider it pure joy when you face trials? Are you ready to take heart when you face troubles? Are you ready in and out of season? Are you ready for Jesus’ return?

How important is it for you to be ready when you show up? Do you get up early to make sure you are ready? Do you do any exercises or activities to make sure you are ready? Do you notice the impact of having put in the time and effort to get prepared?

Let’s get ready! Let’s be prepared! Let’s finish this week strong!

Running over

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY: Luke 6:38

‘Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”’

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • Are you ready to live your life as God’s kingdom living?
  • Do you trust God enough that it is evident by your attitude, your actions, and your relationships?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to stick out or stand out from the world or the crowd?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to love the unlovable?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to love those who persecute or attack you?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to love those who don’t love you?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to love those who even hurt you?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to give to those who can’t repay you?
  • Does your trust in God cause you to give to those who won’t pay you back?
  • Do you realize how mind blowing that can be to people?
  • Do you realize that when people see it they might have to ask you about it?
  • Will you take hold of the four promises Jesus gives in the Sermon on the Mount?
    • ‘“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. ‘ — Luke 6:37
    • We get three from that verse and we get the fourth from today’s verse: ‘Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”’ — Luke 6:38
  • That’s right, we need to : Don’t judge! Don’t condemn! Forgive! Give!
  • That’s right, the benefit is: you won’t be judged! You won’t be condemned! You will be forgiven! You will receive!
  • Let’s take all of them into consideration as we prepare for today!
  • Trusting God transforms us on the inside and out!
  • Trusting God impacts our behavior towards others!
  • God promises to pour out, that’s right not a trickle, not a drip, not a dab, not a squeeze His blessings on us!
  • Since the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it and every things we have came from Him, when we trust Him we can give generously!
  • When we trust God we can be hilarious givers!
  • When we trust God, we can give to Him and His purposes and His causes!
  • Do you realize the overflow of blessings that can come from trusting God and being a giver? I do.
  • Consider how expressive Jesus was when He describes it in Luke 6:38
  • Don’t be stingy, it robs you of the joy of generosity!

DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
Many people say the tithe (10 percent) is the “training wheels” of giving. Do you agree or disagree?
  • It tends to just be the beginning
  • Money tends to be the last thing people bring into church
  • But it is a key part in showing our trust in God!
What motivates you to give to God and His work? What about God would you need to know and trust in order for you to give even more?
  • Nothing – you can never out give God!
  • It may not be dollar for dollar but God is a debtor to nobody.
  • I am blessed with an incredible wife
  • I am blessed with incredible children
  • and so much more and so I trust God with everything.

QUOTE(S) FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:

“I can testify that the Lord is as good as His Word that if we trust and believe and bring our tithes into the storehouse, He will ‘pour out His blessings’ of all kinds, including financial”

Be Prepared!

As I start this day and consider our best way to avoid or reduce our exposure to pain and suffering, sorrow and despair, sickness and complications, the only thing that comes to mind is to be prepared. What can we do to be ready for and in some cases even avoid some troubles? Get prepared! What does being prepared look like? What do we need to do to be prepared? Let’s consider some of the things as we start Q2 of 2021 today…

  • Are you prepared for the devil’s temptations? (1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:11, Ephesians 6:13, Ephesians 6:17)
  • Are you prepared for trials? (Proverbs 27:1, Ecclesiastes 11:8, Luke 21:19, John 16:33, 1 Corinthians 16:13)
  • Are you prepared for what’s ahead of you? (Proverbs 6:6-8, Proverbs 20:4, Proverbs 20:13, Proverbs 22:3, Proverbs 26:16, Proverbs 28:19–20)
  • Are you prepared to explain your hope? your faith? (Psalm 39:4, Hebrews 11:7, 1 Peter 3:15, 2 Timothy 4:2-5)
  • Are you prepared for Jesus’ return? (Matthew 24:26-27, Matthew 24:37, Matthew 24:42-44, Luke 21:36, Mark 13:32-33, 2 Peter 3:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:2)

Are you rested up? Are you studied up? Are you dressed up? Are you strengthened up? Are you filled up? Are you standing up? Are you stepping up? Are you standing firm?

Are you prepared? Are you getting prepared? Are you ready? Let’s make sure as we get ready for today that we are prepared!

If you could get sick, would you do something to prevent it by being prepared? If you could be hospitalized from the sickness, would you do something to prevent it by being prepared? If you could die from the sickness, would you do something to prevent it by being prepared?

How long does it take for you to be ready? How long does it take for you to be prepared? Will you start early so that you can be ready in time? Will you start early so that you will be prepared for that day?

There is a battle going on today. There is a battle of good vs evil. There is a battle for your soul. Whether you are involved or avoiding it, there is a battle taking place. Whether you are visibly or physically impacted by it, there is a battle taking place. So we need to get ready, be ready, and stand up! Today matters! Every decision you make, every action you take will impact how the rest of your life will be. So let’s get ready! Let’s Be Prepared!

If you get called today will you be prepared? If you get confronted today will you be prepared? If you need to give an answer or a reason today will you be prepared?

Do you realize the difference between planning and being prepared? Do you think a surfer plans for a wave or prepares for a wave? Do you think you can plan for your future or be prepared for your future? With the speed of change taking place in the world do you think you and predict and plan rather than pray and prepare? So let’s be prepared for what is to come! Rather than thinking our plan will be the way, let’s give our plans to God so that we can be prepared for what is to come! (Proverbs 16:9, Proverbs 19:21) We don’t fully know where we are going or where we will end up but if God calls us to go like He did to Abram, all we can do is get prepared by telling our loved ones, wrapping up any loose ends, get packed up, and then go! Do you remember what John the Baptist was saying? He said prepare not plan! (Mark 1:3) So let’s take hold of the reality that God does the planning and we do the preparing! So let’s get prepared to do the good works which God prepared in advance for us to do! Remember what it says in Jeremiah 29:11-13 about God’s plans for us that is good and to give us a hope and a future? Remember the plans God has for us and the purpose for having sent Jesus from John 3:16-21 that He did out of love and in order to make a way for us to be reconciled unto Himself?

So we all have a choice to make for ourselves. We have decide if we will be prepared or not. We have to decide how prepared we want to be and will be for this day ahead of us. Be Prepared!

Are you prepared to be productive? Are you prepared to lead? Are you prepared to bring joy to others? Are you prepared to share the reason for the hope that is within you? Are you prepared in and out of season? Are you prepared mentally? Are you prepared physically? Are you prepared spiritually? Are you prepared for the challenge of today?

Let’s be prepared!

Do you get it?

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY: I Corinthians 1:18

‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ‘

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • Are you prepared to do something unifying?
  • Are you prepared to do something divisive?
  • Are you prepared to talk?
  • Are you prepared for radical change?
  • Are you prepared for the response of anger?
  • Are you prepared for the response of being scoffed at?
  • Are you prepared for the response of confusion?
  • Are you prepared to give an answer?
  • Are you prepared to explain how something long ago impacts our future?
  • Are you prepared for the debate?
  • Are you prepared for the reasoning?
  • Are you prepared to help them understand?
  • Are you prepared to explain being lost?
  • Are you prepared to explain being found?
  • Are you prepared to explain the reason for the hope within you?
  • Are you prepared to explain what you have?
  • Are you prepared to share what you have?
  • Are you prepared to share how it is by grace through faith and not by works so that nobody can boast?
  • Are you prepared to explain how God got a hold of you? And transformed your life?

DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
Why do you think some people get it and others don’t?
  • They are too smart, too wealthy, too logical,
  • They have problems trying to understand how love can be so grand
  • They can’t categorize or put it in a box they understand.
In light of people’s spiritual blindness, take some time to pray for those you know who don’t know Christ yet.

QUOTE(S) FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:

“I am not what I ought to be. I am not what I want to be. I am not even what I hoped to be. But by the cross of Christ, I am not what I was.”

John Newton

“To me, love is knowing that Jesus Christ died on the cross so that I might live forever. To me, happiness is knowing now that my eternity with Christ is irrevocably guaranteed, that He did it all, and all I have to do is believe and accept His grace.”

— Confessions of a Happy Christian p. 80 by Zig Ziglar

What if today were the last day, would you be ready?

As my reading for today is day 341 of 341 the idea that came to mind after all the days of reading from the book of Revelation came that what if today were the last day? In my case, because of a family getaway when I took 4 days of being offline I get 4 additional days of reading, but what if? If today was your last day on earth, are you ready? If today you were taken away from this earth, do you know who else you would see compared to how many would be left behind? If today were your last day, would you live it any differently in terms of who you spent it with, what you would do and say? If you knew that some were being left behind, is there a word or a message or a sentiment you would want to leave them? Would you have better stewardship if you knew it was your last day? Is there something you would give? Is there something you would say? Is there something you would do?

Don’t be lukewarm! Don’t forget your passion and love! Don’t forget what is temporary and what will last! Don’t lose hope! Don’t give up!

Let’s put on the full armor of God! Let’s fight the good fight! Let’s finish the race! Let’s stand firm on the foundation of Jesus Christ! Let’s align ourselves with the cornerstone who is Jesus Christ!

Last night was an incredible night when our church started our Christmas services with the star lighting ceremony. Let’s be people of love! Let’s be people of unity and reconciliation! Let’s be Merry Christmas people! Let’s be life giving and life speaking people!

Let’s make today count!

Let’s speak the truth in love! For the truth will set us free!

Let’s lead with love because all the commandments can be summed up in the two Jesus gave us to love God and to love people. Let’s love with God’s unconditional love for God is love! And we know that love is:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Today’s Verse of the Day is:

‘ Just as it is written in the prophet Isaiah: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will make ready Your way–[Mal. 3:1.] A voice of one crying in the wilderness [shouting in the desert], Prepare the way of the Lord, make His beaten tracks straight (level and passable)! [Isa. 40:3.] John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness (desert), preaching a baptism [obligating] repentance (a change of one’s mind for the better, heartily amending one’s ways, with abhorrence of his past sins) in order to obtain forgiveness of and release from sins.’

— Mark 1:2-4

Be Ready!

There are great quotes by some amazing people about being ready and preparing like:

There are great quotes in the Bible too about the importance and need of being ready and prepared. God’s Word tells us we need to be ready for the return of Jesus! God’s Word tells us to be ready for the temptations and tricks of the devil! God’s Word tells us to be ready for the trials that will happen in our life! God’s Word tells us to be ready and prepared for what is ahead! God’s Word tells us to be ready to speak of the reason for the hope that is within us, the faith we have in Jesus, and the reason we live our life the way we do! God’s Word tells us to be ready for life is too short and so we have to make the most of it! We read them in verses like:

  • ‘ So if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness (desert)–do not go out there; if they tell you, Behold, He is in the secret places or inner rooms–do not believe it. For just as the lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.’
    — Matthew 24:26-27
  • ‘ Watch therefore [give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day [whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming. But understand this: had the householder known in what [part of the night, whether in a night or a morning] watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be undermined and broken into. You also must be ready therefore, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.’
    Matthew 24:42-44
  • ‘ Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.’
    — Luke 21:36
  • ‘ Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.’
  • — 1 Peter 5:8
  • ‘ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish (pass away) with a thunderous crash, and the [material] elements [of the universe] will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.’
    — 2 Peter 3:10
  • ‘ Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. [Isa. 52:7.] Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.’
    — Ephesians 6:11-17
  • ‘ I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]’
    — John 16:33
  • ‘ Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength! [Ps. 31:24.]’
    — 1 Corinthians 16:13
  • ‘ DO NOT boast of [yourself and] tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth. [Luke 12:19, 20; James 4:13.]’
    — Proverbs 27:1

Can you see what is right before you? Do you see what is right in front of your face? Are you ready for it Are you prepared for it? Are you stuck in the past? Are you stuck looking in the rearview mirror and having life fly past you as a blur? Some say hindsight is 2020, but we aren’t supposed to stay there. We are to learn from the past in order to move forward into the present! This is the day that the Lord has made, so let’s rejoice and be glad in it! Let’s make today a Happy Today! Let’s make today be a James 1:2-4 type of day so that no matter what happens we are ready and consider it pure joy! Let’s make today be a John 16:33 day no matter what trouble comes our way and take heart because we know that Jesus has overcome the world!

Today is supposed to be the end of the plan but as I mentioned earlier I missed 4 days and will be extending this reading in order to complete the full plan. Today’s reading for those who have been reading along is the last one of this reading plan. Thanks to all those who read along and joined me on this adventure. I will be looking for a few shorter plans to get us through the end of the year and then pick another read the bible in a year plan to begin in January!

Today’s Reading:

‘ Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!’

— Psalm 46:10 https://my.bible.com/bible/8/PSA.46.10

My Notes:

Let’s be still! Let’s stop the stupid fights and arguments! Let’s stop the pettiness and the foolishness! Let’s stop warring and fighting over things that don’t matter! Let’s stand for what is good and right! Let’s stop our evil ways, evil works, deception and trickery. Let’s stop and take hold of the reality of who God is! Let’s recognize who God is! Let’s understand who God is! Let’s make time and spend time in God’s Word to receive it! Let’s remember and take hold of how Jesus has already overcome the world and so even in the midst of troubles we can take heart! Let’s remember God’s victory for the battle belongs to the Lord! Let’s remember how He will be exalted! Let’s take hold of the reality that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Let’s take hold of the victory we read about in the book of Revelation and how the Lord will be exalted! So let’s choose to live out our today according to and in alignment with God’s nature, purposes, promises, and covenant in order that as living sacrifices He will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

As day 341 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Today’s devotional that I am following is The 49-Week Challenge comes from Life.Church. For more information, please visit www.life.church — Thank you Life.Church for sharing this reading plan through Bible.com

It’s coming… Are you ready? Will you live out today in LOVE? Lead with Love!

It has always amazed me how God’s Word can align to help, support, direct, and instruct me at different times and periods in my life. Knowing that the reading plan I have is to complete the Bible in 49 weeks, and knowing that I hadn’t gotten to the book of Revelation yet, I was curious with so many readings from John if it was coming soon. Normally, I just go with the flow and yet yesterday I click the days ahead to see and found a few more readings from John before we jump into the book of Revelation. I received the confirmation that it’s coming but didn’t memorize or lock in the specific day as I cling to the reality that I need to focus on today. I need to live out my today with the joy of the Lord as my strength. I need to live out my today as Happy Today! Today will have enough to worry about that I don’t need to be worrying about tomorrow. So this morning, I take my learning and lessons from the past in order to not repeat them. I take my faith and hope in Jesus for the future that is ahead. I consider today a gift from God since it is the present and will look to live it out to the full, looking to complete the good works that God has prepared in advance for me to accomplish.

Even though the readings from the book of Revelation doesn’t start today, are you ready for Jesus’s return? Even though the readings from the book of Revelation doesn’t start today, are you locked in knowing He’s coming soon? As I thought about it I looked for a video to help us ponder before continuing and discovered this one from the Oak Ridge Boys that made me remember my younger days when my parents would play their music around the house. Let’s take a moment and be encouraged before we press into today’s reading…

Today’s verse of the day comes to us from 1 John 4: 15:

‘ Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God.’

1 John 4:15

We are into the last quarter of the year and have been through so much. We have seen so many things in this year of 2020 and it is all behind us now. As October fades into the rearview mirror and we reflect on how hindsight is 2020, what will we do with the experiences and the lessons from this year? How will we be able to improve our vision for the future based on these lessons in order to complete the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to accomplish? God’s not done with us yet! He is coming soon! Don’t allow fear or worry to take control of your life! Allow love into your heart to the point where it overwhelms fear for there is not fear in perfect love. Ever considered how many times people got sucked into worrying about what is going on right now and missing out on everything that will and can happen in and through it? Let’s take hold of James 1:2-4 when we face trials and troubles of many kinds by consider it pure joy! Let’s be prepared as we lean in and prepare for our trip home to Jesus, heavenward bound!

The 49 week challenge
Day 311

Want to join me in the challenge? Click Day 311 link to join me and sign up. It is never too late. The 49 week challenge has 6 days in which to notice a promise to trust, a command to obey, a truth to embrace, a warning to heed, or an encouragement to rest in and 1 day to reflect on what you’re learning and to share it with others, to think back over the week’s readings, to see connections between the various passages of the week. Each day we have time to talk to God and contemplate what is being said through His Word, and even more so on the 7th day.

How interested are you in what will happen today? How interested are you in what will be required of you today? How interested are you in what decisions you will need to make today? How interested are you in hearing from God today? How interested are you in accomplishing what God is calling you to do today? What if it were life and death decision? What if it were everlasting life and everlasting death decision? What if the decision that you make today will determine how you will spend the rest of eternity? Would it make a difference?

If you are interested in getting together or sharing the information together, please let me know through the comment section below, through email, or even through text messages.

Today’s reading
from GOD’S WORD–THE BIBLE:

My Notes:

  • We need to turn to God before it is too late and stop going it our own way.
  • We need to turn to God and live out our lives in love, with forgiveness, and to live according to His will.
  • We need to turn to God, united first with Him and then with one another.
  • Let’s put Jesus as the center for a chord of three strands is not easily broken.
  • Let’s draw closer to God so that He will draw closer to us and we will then be drawn closer to one another in and out of love.
  • ‘Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.’
    1 John 5:1-21
  • ‘“Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness. “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit. “If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it. If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it. “Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty. “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent. “Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.
“For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops, but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove. “Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed. “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
“Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me. “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt. “No one is to appear before me empty-handed. “Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field. “Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field. “Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord . “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast. “The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning. “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God. “Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces. Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span. “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run. I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way. But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land. “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”’
    Exodus 23:1-33
  • ‘Blessed are all who fear the Lord , who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord . May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you live to see your children’s children— peace be on Israel.’
    Psalms 128:1-6
  • ‘This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought: “Judah mourns, her cities languish; they wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem. The nobles send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns but find no water. They return with their jars unfilled; dismayed and despairing, they cover their heads. The ground is cracked because there is no rain in the land; the farmers are dismayed and cover their heads. Even the doe in the field deserts her newborn fawn because there is no grass. Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights and pant like jackals; their eyes fail for lack of food.” Although our sins testify against us, do something, Lord , for the sake of your name. For we have often rebelled; we have sinned against you. You who are the hope of Israel, its Savior in times of distress, why are you like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who stays only a night? Why are you like a man taken by surprise, like a warrior powerless to save? You are among us, Lord , and we bear your name; do not forsake us! This is what the Lord says about this people: “They greatly love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the Lord does not accept them; he will now remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.” Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for the well-being of this people. Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry; though they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will destroy them with the sword, famine and plague.” But I said, “Alas, Sovereign Lord ! The prophets keep telling them, ‘You will not see the sword or suffer famine. Indeed, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’ ” Then the Lord said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds. Therefore this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine. And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them, their wives, their sons and their daughters. I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve. “Speak this word to them: “ ‘Let my eyes overflow with tears night and day without ceasing; for the Virgin Daughter, my people, has suffered a grievous wound, a crushing blow. If I go into the country, I see those slain by the sword; if I go into the city, I see the ravages of famine. Both prophet and priest have gone to a land they know not.’ ” Have you rejected Judah completely? Do you despise Zion? Why have you afflicted us so that we cannot be healed? We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror. We acknowledge our wickedness, Lord , and the guilt of our ancestors; we have indeed sinned against you. For the sake of your name do not despise us; do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us and do not break it. Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, Lord our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.’
    Jeremiah 14:1-22

As day 311 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Heavenly Father
I come to you in prayer asking for the
forgiveness of my Sins. I confess with my
mouth and believe with my heart that
Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the
Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven.
and have Eternal Life in the Kingdom of
Heaven. Father, I believe that Jesus rose
from the dead and I ask you right now to
come in to my life and be my personal
Lord and Savior. I repent of my Sins and
will Worship you all the day's of my Life!
Because your word is truth, I confess with
my mouth that I am Born Again and
Cleansed by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus
Name, Amen

Are you a giver? What principles guide you in this?

Today’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 8:10-15; 9:6-11:4,12-15;
Psalm 120:5-7; Proverbs 22:29

You weren’t just call to do it, but to complete it. You were ready to want it, so now press on complete the work that God has called you to do.

And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

Are you in a time of abundance? Are you in a time of lack?

For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack-that there may be equality. As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack."

How are you sowing? Where is your heart as you sow? Be cheerful.

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written:

"He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever."
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

We are not in a battle against flesh, but against powers against principalities, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Let’s be ready and stand firm. We don’t fight with the same weapons, but with spiritual armor – Helmet of Salvation – to protect our mind, the Breastplate of Righteousness – to protect our heart, the Shield of Faith – to protect us from the fiery darts that get shot at us every day, the Belt of Truth, that holds it all together, put on your feet the Shoes of Readiness having been prepared in the Gospel of Peace that we will be able to move forward and stand firm on the Rock of Jesus and a single spiritual weapon – the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ-who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ’s, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s. For even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed-lest I seem to terrify you by letters. "For his letters," they say, "are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible." Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such we will also be in deed when we are present.

For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us-a sphere which especially includes you. For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ; not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment.

But "he who glories, let him glory in the LORD." For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

There are many that will try to twist or take away the truth. There are many who will try to lead you astray. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Lean not on your own understanding, but put your trust in God. And as my three year old likes to remind me, “Do not be afraid, God is with you – Joshua 1:9”. From the mouth of babes.

Oh, that you would bear with me in a little folly-and indeed you do bear with me. For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted-you may well put up with it!

But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

WORSHIP

Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech,
That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.
Psalm 120:5-7

WISDOM

Do you see a man who excels in his work?
He will stand before kings;
He will not stand before unknown men.
Proverbs 22:29
