Busy calendar? Is it because you have to be or because you let it be? Is it with the right people at the right time on the right topics? Invite God into your scheduling and allow Him to add/remove things from it based on His plans and purpose for your day! Invite the Holy Spirit to grant you wisdom and discernment about what meetings need to happen and which don’t. Invite the Holy Spirit into each meeting to give you the thoughts, the words, and the actions necessary to accomplish God’s will and for Him to receive the glory! Allow new things to be added when the Holy Spirit prompts. Allow existing things to be moved around when the Holy Spirit prompts. Focus on the good works God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish today!
So who is in control of your day? Are you rejecting God’s wisdom and discernment or accepting it? Are you rejecting God’s purposes and plans for your day or accepting them? Are you rejecting God’s prompting or accepting it? Are you trying to go it alone or are you willing to go it with God and with others? Let’s choose to go through today with God and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us through it so that we can accomplish God’s will for His glory!
Today’s Verse of the Day:
‘Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. ‘
Are you ready to talk with God in a direct way? Are you ready to avoid the fluffy stuff and start with straight-talking? Are you ready to speak with and listen to the Holy Spirit to help you get through today? Invite Jesus into your heart! Invite Jesus into your life! Allow Him to create a new heart in you and for you to be born again, becoming a new creation where the old stuff that was holding you back is gone and the new stuff that will help you finish the race called life strong!

Yesterday was a fun day getting to get up on stage with an incredible team of people to be commissioned for camps this summer. Yesterday was a fun day getting to spend time with the family with a great meal and time together to celebrate father’s day. Yesterday was a great day too as I was able to get a great sleep in preparation for this new work week.
Are you ready? Are you prepared? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit to overflow? Are you filled with love to overflowing? Are you filled with compassion to overflowing? Are you filled with energy and excitement to overflow? Are you ready to thrive for the glory of God? Are you ready to accomplish the good works that God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish? Are you ready to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to adjust your calendar in order to accomplish all God has planned and prepared for you to accomplish?
This is the day that the Lord has made and so let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Today’s Verse of the Day:
‘From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised. ‘
Are you ready? Are you aware? Are you aligned? Are you prepared? Are you filled? Wherever you are right now, invite Jesus into your heart to help. Wherever you are right now, invite Jesus into your life to transform, lead, guide, direct, and to correct. Wherever you are right now, allow the Holy Spirit to be your comforter and your guide, your counselor, and advocate to help you move forward into all that God has planned and prepared for you!

Do you realize that you are a vessel with a plan? So what are you allowing to fill you up in order to help empower you to accomplish and arrive what you need to do and where you need to go? How are you making sure you are filled up and fueled up to be able to accomplish your purpose? How are you making sure you are filled up and fueled up to be able to make it to your final destination?
Yes, we are all different. Yes, we each have our individual purpose and plan. Yes, we each have our own look. Yes, we each have our own skills and talents. So how are you making sure that you are in good shape on the inside and out? How are you making sure that you are ready for the good work God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish? How are you preparing yourself and living your life so that you will be able to give and get a good report on that final day?
Are you ready? Are you ready to get ready? Are you prepared for today?
This is the day that the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Let’s make sure to take time to get filled up with love from God’s love!
Let’s make sure to take time to stay connected in order to not run dry!
Let’s make sure to stay attached to the fountain of life so as to be able to overflow into the lives of those God brings across your path!
No matter what type of vessel we are, what style of vessel we are, what material we are made of, let’s remember the creator, God, and let’s choose to be ready to accomplish our purpose for today!
‘But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. ‘
Let’s expand on this to make sure we get additional context on what is being said and get some additional details using the Amplified translation:
‘Remind the people of these facts, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good, and [upsets and undermines and] ruins [the faith of] those who listen. Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. But avoid all irreverent babble and godless chatter [with its profane, empty words], for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their teaching will spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have deviated from the truth. They claim that the resurrection has already taken place, and they undermine the faith of some. Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God [which He has laid] stands [sure and unshaken despite attacks], bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord stand apart from wickedness and withdraw from wrongdoing.” Now in a large house there are not only vessels and objects of gold and silver, but also vessels and objects of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honorable (noble, good) use and some for dishonorable (ignoble, common). Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. Run away from youthful lusts—pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those [believers] who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant speculations [useless disputes over unedifying, stupid controversies], since you know that they produce strife and give birth to quarrels. The servant of the Lord must not participate in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone [even-tempered, preserving peace, and he must be], skilled in teaching, patient and tolerant when wronged. He must correct those who are in opposition with courtesy and gentleness in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and be led to the knowledge of the truth [accurately understanding and welcoming it], and that they may come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.’
So how much value are you wanting to produce from your life?
How much value have you decided will come from living your life?
God has given us the opportunity to choose!
Will you choose to live a life that is valuable or worthless?
Unlike the items we buy at the store that don’t get a choice of how they will get used, we do, we get to choose if we will live our lives to be valuable or worthless!
So are you going to choose to live a life that is honoring and useful to God?
Are you going to choose to live a life that is dirty and broken that doesn’t serve any purpose?
Let’s take hold of the truth from God’s Word! Let’s grab hold of what Paul shared about how we can choose to cleanse ourselves and become useful to God!
‘Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. ‘ — 2 Timothy 2:21
Are you able to see what needs to be cleaned up in your own life?
Ever found it easier to notice what others need to work on more than yourself?
Ever looked in the mirror of the Bible in order to be able to determine the things you need to clean up, wipe off, and throw out?
Let’s take hold of the reality that sin is sin, we missed the mark, rather than compare and contrast the size of the sin, how far we missed the mark, let’s instead focus on taking care of it and addressing it in a way that will cleanse our hearts and our minds so as to be available for use by God!
Are there any big items left to be taken care of like when you first had an encounter with Jesus and the Holy Spirit shined His light on you to show you things that needed to get changed?
Are you keeping an eye out for the smaller things that still need buffing and polishing to get things and keep things clean and ready for God’s use that the Holy Spirit is shining His light on today?
Have you taken care of the obvious items? Are you taking care of the more subtle and hidden ones like pride, jealousy, and resentment?
How do you respond to the Holy Spirit when He points out sin in your life?
We each get to choose our response!
Do you say yes and repent? Do you say no and keep doing it?
Will you decide today when prompted by the Holy Spirit to say yes in order that He can prepare you for every good work?
DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
What does it mean to be usable to God? What are some ways He uses you?
Is the Spirit pointing out any sin in your life that you need to repent of? If so, how will you respond?
So where are you at today? Are you a vessel ready to take on God’s work? Are you a vessel cleaned up on the inside and out and ready to accomplish God’s purpose and plan for your life? Are you a vessel that is prepared to do the good works God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish? Are you ready to turn to Him and walk out your today with Him? Are you ready to be filled up with God’s love in order to overflow and live out your today for Him?
Are you ready? Are you prepared? Are you positioned? Are you cleansed? In order to be able to receive and to pour out?
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of my Sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven. and have Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of my Sins and will Worship you all the day’s of my Life! Because your word is truth, I confess with my mouth that I am Born Again and Cleansed by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen
Did you pray with me? Would you be willing to leave me a comment so that I can pray with and for you about such an incredible decision? Or if you don’t feel comfortable leaving a comment on my blog, why not email or text me instead?
Read an interesting post the other day which reminded me of a book a pastor friend had gifted me many years back. It was a book titled Love Is A Killer App by Tim Sanders. It was interesting as the way to live was tagged as the lovecat way in his book and it all resonated with me a bunch as it was in alignment with the way I try to live my life. It speaks to how life is about loving others. It speaks about relationships and working together. It was such a great book I lent it to a coworker when he was questioning some things and asking some questions that I thought might be helped and encouraged through the book. The book was the catalyst for me to reach out and get connected with Tim too.
So as I start this day and consider how can I be pouring love into the lives of everyone who comes across my path, the only answer I can come up with is that it requires me to be filled up to overflowing or else I will run out. So I turn to my source who pours into me because He is love! God is love! God loves so much that He gives! God is generous! God is so great that He can’t run out of love! So it is a matter of being willing to stay connected to God in order to stay filled with love! By staying connected just as we are the branches and Jesus is the vine, then Jesus’s love can flow into and through us. By staying connected as the branches to Jesus, the Father is able to help prune us and help us produce even more fruit of the kingdom. So let’s not run dry or run out of love! Let’s stay connected to the well, the well of living water, the well whose water will keep us from thirsting. Let’s be like those water displays where we see the water bubbling up and slowly pouring over the rim as the water tension breaks and out into all that is around them. Let’s allow Jesus’s fountain to fill us to overflowing with love, that there is no room for anything but love so that we can pour that love into the world around us that so needs it. Let’s receive God as our source and allow our hearts, our minds, and our strength to just exude and overflow in love!
Do you realize the power that comes from being filled with love? Do you realize the energy and motivation that comes from being filled with love? Do you realize the perseverance and determination that comes from being filled with love? Do you realize the patience and kindness that comes from being filled with love? Do you realize the humility and the grace that comes from being filled with love? Are you ready to be filled with love to overflowing today?
Will you be know to others by your love? Will you be the one who lights up a room because they know your love? Will you be the reflection of Jesus we are called to be into the dark world we live in? Could today be your day to share that love?
‘Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. ‘
Love is so important, let’s take a look a bit more at this topic by expanding the verses we quote and see what we can grasp and take hold of. We see above the top, the first, main commandment. Imagine if all the commandments could be summarized into just two.
‘Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”’
Are you willing to give it so that He can fill you?
Are you willing to give God every bit of passion you have?
Are you willing to give God every bit of heart you have?
Are you willing to give God every bit of love you have?
Are you willing to be emptied in order for God to fill you?
Are you willing to put God first?
Are you willing in your prioritization of life and putting first things first, to put God first?
Are you willing to be fully devoted to God?
Do you realize that we were created to be fully devoted to God and we live and work at top performance or peak performance when that is how we live?
Are you willing to go from living moderately for God to living fully for God?
Are you willing to go from giving to God moderately to giving to God fully?
You can live other areas of your life in moderation like diet, exercise, sleep, work habits, spending, investing, and most other aspect, but with God we need to be all in.
Let’s pursue God passionately!
Let’s pursue God vigilantly!
Let’s pursue God completely!
Let’s give Him all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength!
He gave it all that we could be saved by sending us Jesus!
Jesus paid it all and so we have no other response than to love God fully!
Do you realize that all the various rules and regulations, processes and procedures that come up for us to follow don’t measure up to the reality that LOVE makes in our lives?
Do you realize that the first and main thing that we need to do is love God with everything that we have?
Do you realize that the second and equally important thing we need to do is love our neighbors as ourselves?
If we do these two things then we have covered all the rules and regulations!
By putting God first and loving God with everything we have, our lives come into alignment with the will of God!
By putting God first and loving God with everything we have, He is able to fill us up to overflowing in order that we can pour His love into the world around us.
By putting God first and loving God with everything we have, we won’t fall into the lies and the traps of the enemy that leads us into trying to be people pleasers, proving ourselves, or hiding from risks.
So let’s choose today to live our lives putting God first, loving Him with everything we have, so that we can live out the rest of our lives the way God created us to.
DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
What would it mean for you to love God with all of your heart?
Where are you at today? Are you ready to get filled up with love from God? Are you ready to get filled up with the love of God? Are you ready to get filled up to overflowing?
So what are you allowing into your heart? Is it love or hate? Is it forgiveness or bitterness? Is it joy or anger? Are you allowing it to take root? Are you allowing it to grow? Are you allowing it to bloom and flooring? What will pour out of it when life gets tough?
“To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.”
So, what’s in our heart? Are you ready to replace the hate with love? Are you ready to replace the bitterness with forgiveness? Are you ready to replace the anger with joy? Will you invite Jesus into your heart so that you He can help you clean things up?
Are you more focused on the outside than the inside?
Are you more focused on appearance than reality?
Are you more focused on what you are allowing into your heart than what is coming out?
Are you more focused on rules, regulations, and routines than on having a real relationship with others and with God?
Ready to turn things around and take hold of what Jesus has to say and offer?
Ready to turn things around and start or improve your relationship with Jesus?
Let’s be more focused on what comes out of our mouthed than what we put into them!
Let’s be more focused on the content of our heart and how the words we choose to use can create rather than destroy and heal rather than hurt!
How do you communicate with others?
You do you communicate with those you love?
How are you with the words you speak? Is it intentional or habitual?
Are you more interested in being smart or snarky or sarcastic or loving?
Let’s purpose to speaking more lovingly in order to bring healing!
Let’s tell people how much we love them!
Let’s tell people how proud we are of them!
Let’s tell people when we see and recognize things hey are really good at!
Don’t cut people by using critical words!
Don’t hurt people by using sarcasm!
Don’t allow silence to cause others to feel self-doubt or emptiness!
Be observant of the words that comes out of your mouth as a barometer of what is going on in your heart and look to adjust accordingly!
If you are finding that what is pouring out of you is negative, biting, caustic, or sarcastic then turn to God and ask Him to help fill you with faith, hope, and love to overflowing so that what comes out of you aligns with Him more!
DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
Think of the conversation you’ve had in the past day. How would you describe the content of your words?
What changes do you need to make in your communication, especially with those you love?
QUOTE(S) FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
“What comes out of your mouth is determined by what goes into your mind.”

So ready to get your heart right? Ready to get some help? Let’s pray

What is it that motivates you? What is it that keeps you on track? What is it that gives you direction? What is it that gives you the force to move forward or move on? What is it that is giving you momentum? What is it that keeps you aligned? What is it that keeps you focused? What is your source? What is it that keeps you loyal? What is it that keeps you going, no matter what?
Are you focused on God and His will and plans? Are you focused on the will of man and their selfish ambitions? Are you focused on God’s Word? Are you focused on the worlds instant gratification and greed? Are you focused on having your tank filled by God and then overflowing into the lives of others? Are you focused on getting as much as you can as quickly as you can? Are you more focused on the influx or the outflux in your life? Are you more interested in what you can get than what you can give?
Do you realize that what you allow into your heart makes a difference? Do you realize that how you fill up your life tank makes a difference? It can energize and motivate you or it can consume and corrode you. It is important in life to choose wisely! It is important in life to be blessed and be generous! It is more important in life to be a giver than a taker!
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY: Matthew 6:24 (You Cannot Serve God and Riches)
‘“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.’
POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
What is your one thing?
If you were given the opportunity to have 1 thing but it can be anything, what would you choose?
There are so many things competing for your attention, what will you choose?
There are so many things competing for your affection, what will you choose?
There are so many things competing for your heart, so what will you choose to rule over or fill your heart?
What are they offering you to try and convince you to choose them?
What are they tempting you with to try and convince you to choose them?
What do they have to offer that might capture your attention, if only for a moment?
Are they offering you pleasure?
Are they offering you thrills?
Are they offering you status?
Are they offering you the ability to impress?
Are they offering you the opportunity to escape?
But is what they are offering you real? Is what they are offering you going to last?
Where are you hearing such offers?
Is it in the office? Is it on TV? Is it through advertising? Is it on the billboard on that drive? Is it through friends? …
Are they trying to fulfill a dream that you have?
But who will you trust? Who will you go to? Who will you listen to? Who has what you really need?
Are you buying what they are selling?
Will they convince you to accept their offer or temptation?
Remember, you only can choose one thing! Like today’s verse tells us!
‘“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.’ — Matthew 6:24
Consider these verses too…
Romans 6:16 – ‘ Do you not know that if you continually surrender yourselves to anyone to do his will, you are the slaves of him whom you obey, whether that be to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience which leads to righteousness (right doing and right standing with God)?’
2 Peter 2:19 – ‘ They promise them liberty, when they themselves are the slaves of depravity and defilement–for by whatever anyone is made inferior or worse or is overcome, to that [person or thing] he is enslaved.’
In the busy things of life, in the noises that come along with it, will you stop and find a quiet place where you can listen for and hear that still quiet voice that will speak truth and life in love to you from the Holy Spirit?
Will you set time aside to turn to and listen to the one who will will speak the truth of who Jesus is and what God is offering you?
John 14:6 shares: ‘ Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.’
Will you choose God and accept His plan for you that gives you hope and a future?
Will you choose God and accept Jesus who came that you can have the adventure of v life and life more abundantly or to the full?
So what will you allow to fill your tank? your life? your box?
DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
Identify some of the competing voices and their promises in your life.
TV – shows and ads
Radio – shows and ads
Internet – sites, stores, ads
Video games and ads
I have had to turn on ad blockers and even uninstall games because of the types of ads they play
I have had to turn to DVR shows so that I can skip ads or parts of shows
What have you had in your box in the past year or so? What are you putting in your box now?
God has been so critical to me over the past year to help me through some rough and tough times
He helped me keep from putting anger and frustration, bitterness and unforgiveness into my heart or allowing bitterness to take root
So what is it or who is it that you will serve? How will that impact your worship? How will that impact the rest of your life?
Where are you at today? Are you looking for guidance? Are you wondering where to turn? Are you at the end of your rope and needing help? Are you ready for some help? Are you ready to turn to God and ask? seek? knock? Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of my Sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven. and have Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of my Sins and will Worship you all the day’s of my Life! What if the average keeps going down, do you still think that average is good enough? What if the average keeps going down, is it really what you want to be? When you are asked “how are you doing?” how do you respond? Is it with a positive response, a negative response, or a neutral aka average response? Are you doing well? Are you doing good? Are you having problems? Are you struggling? Are you ok? Are you in or are you out or are you just sitting on the fence? Are you going to be helping the average go up based on how you are choosing to live out your life? Are you going to help the average go down based on how you are choosing to live out your life? Are you just going to coast and ride the average line? Do you realize that when you aren’t moving forward that you are falling behind? Do you realize that by standing still you are actually falling back? Ever watched water waves? The waves that are pushing to get to shore vs the waves that are pulling out to sea vs the floaters who are just bobbing there and over time get pulled out to sea or get stuck on the beach?
Is average good enough or are you willing to choose to be positive or negative, good or bad, getting better or getting worse? Are you willing to run the risk of allowing what’s going on around you to drive where you will be by staying average? On a good day it may mean you move up. On a bad day it may mean you go down. But what will you decide and choose when it comes to your life?
So are you really going to settle for average? Are you going to be good with just being average? Or are you ready to take hold of God’s Word and God’s promises and God’s plans to avoid being lukewarm?
‘So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. ‘
POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
Are you living with purpose or just going through the motions?
Are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
At home, are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
At work, are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
With God, are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
With your family, are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
With your volunteering or ministry, are you living with passion or just going through the motions?
Are you wanting and ready and willing to be a change agent in this world?
Are you drained and have lost your passion and have decided to just go with the flow and go through the motions?
Have you motivations and passions been lost?
Have you become lukewarm?
What can you do to refill your take? What can you do to get rejuvenated? What can you do to become energized again?
Stress can wear us down!
Life can cause our energy to dissipate!
Where is the excitement?
Where is the caring?
Is it impacting others around you?
If you are in a position of being average, lukewarm, or going with the motions then step back and consider the negative habits that you have developed in your life.
If you are in a position of being average, lukewarm, or going with the motions then take stock of your stresses and your stress level.
If you are in a position of being average, lukewarm, or going with the motions then decide to make a change.
If you are in a position of being average, lukewarm, or going with the motions then decide that you are done settling for mediocre.
If you are in a position of being average, lukewarm, or going with the motions then take an inventory of things on your list and prune the ones that need to be prune, cut off the ones that need to be removed, and then once you have eliminated them add things that will bring life and help you to become fully alive again.
DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
What activities, purposes, or people bring passion and purpose to your life?
My wife and kids
My church and the worship and arts department
At risk and in need children – be it through sponsorship or directing a camp for foster kids and teens
Connecting with people to make sure they are doing well (if if not how to support and pray for them)
Helping problem solve and bring connections
To what extent has your life become mediocre? What do you need to do about it?
2020 was a year that drained
2020 was a year that stressed
2020 was a year that frustrated
2020 was the beginning of isolation
New beginnings closed out 2020 and kicked off 2021 – new team, new projects, new energy
Removed much of the old and opened up space for the new
COVID and the isolation that comes with it can cause mediocre to seem ok
So need to ensure connections and to do things that energize and motivate me and others.
