Is today the day?

Is today going to be a great day? Is today going to be an important day? Is today going to be a fun day? Is today going to be a happy day? Is today going to be a surprising day? Is today going to be a shocking day? What type of day is today going to be? Do you have any say about it? Do you have any control over it? Do you have any plans for it? Do you have any strategies for it?

Do you realize that the earth is the Lords and everything in it? Do you realize that every good and perfect gift from God? Do you realize that your plans need to be aligned with God’s will? Do you realize that you need wisdom from God to help you through today? Do you realize that without God in the plan we work in vain? Do you realize that your plan is only as good as the foundation you build it upon?

Do you have plans and are hoping today will be the day? Do you have something scheduled and so you are hoping today will be the day? Do you have concerns with what is going on and are hoping today will be the day? Do you have a feeling and are hoping that today will be the day? What is it going to take to make today the day? We already know that this is the day that the Lord has made and that we are to rejoice and be glad in it!

Is today the first day? The day you choose to invite Jesus into your life?

Is today the last day? The day you will meet your maker?

Is today the day that starts the next stage? The day when the trumpet will sound and the people of God will be called into His presence?

Is today the day that you will decide where you want to spend eternity? Will it be with God in Heaven? Will it be apart from God in hell? The choice is yours.

What will you do if today is the day? How will you respond if today is the day? How will you know if today is the day? What would it take for you to know if today is the day?

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow never arrives. So make today count as it is the present for you.

What day is it? One thing is for sure it is TODAY! Will you choose for it to be Happy Today?

There a lot of opinions being put into your head, which will you choose to listen to?
Who will you let decide?

Today’s reading from God’s Word:

(Day 304 of 312)

Who will decide? Who will sign-off on it? Who will be accountable? Who will lead the way? Will you decide for yourself?

Will you be present today? Will you not just go through the motions but instead live out today with purpose?

What if in November there is a call to return to God? Would you turn from your own way and turn back to Him?

What if today was the day that the riders who are patrolling the earth? What if you are still here when the trials and tribulation begin?

How will you know the difference between right and wrong? Do you have a measuring stick that helps you decide? Do you have a scale that helps you decide? Do you have a source to know the difference?

Are you ready to give an answer for the hope that is within you? Are you ready to give an answer for the things believe in? Are you ready to give an answer when other start to accuse you?

Are you ready for the celebration? Are you ready for the wedding? Are you ready to be a part of it? Are you ready to be blessed? Are you prepared for when the invite comes?

Cry out to God! Give your cares to God because God cares for you!

So where are you at today? My hope and prayer is that You will ask Jesus into your heart so that I will get to spend eternity in God’s presence with you. Are you ready for forgiveness and peace? Are you ready for a hope and a future? Are you ready for a transformation where the old is gone and the new has come? Are you ready to being the journey of knowing right from wrong? Then let’s pray together to invite Jesus into your heart and your life so that His peace which surpasses all understanding can guide you and comfort you, protect your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. If this is the first time you have prayed to invite Jesus into your heart, leave me a comment so that I can rejoice with the angels in Heaven. If this is a re commitment to Jesus, leave me a comment so that I can rejoice with the angels in Heaven. If you are still questioning or seeking, don’t go it alone, feel free to leave me a comment so we can discuss it.

Let’s pray:

This is the day!

A song started in my head like with most keywords “This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Let’s allow the joy of the Lord to be our strength!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Today’s Word goes like this…

7casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

–from 1 Peter 5

We should enjoy today rather than stress about it! Do you have something you are stressing about? Why don’t you hand it over to God rather than trying to carry that burden alone? It’s not a burden on Him, He wants you to give it over to Him! He wants you to trust Him with it! Today’s Word tells us to cast all our anxieties on Him! Not some, Not the big ones only, not the small ones only. It says ALL! If we grab more from 1 Peter to get context, we can see it speaks the following:

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

–from 1 Peter 5

Remember how God has a plan? Remember how His plan is for good and not to harm you? Remember how it is to give you a hope and a future? Remember why Jesus came? He didn’t come to condemn the world, He came that it would be saved! Do you remember how much God loves you? God so loves the World that He gave His one and only son, that whosoever would believe on Him would not perish but would have everlasting life!

So, what are you going to do with that weight you are carrying around? Will you give it to God? Will you trade with Jesus for His burden instead of that one? If you hook up with Jesus, we learn that His burden is light!

Imagine how you could live if you did this. Do you think you could enjoy today more? Do you think up for such a decision? Do you think you are up to trusting God and being able to enjoy today? No anxieties! No fears! Just faith and trust in God! Enjoying the hear and the now! Getting and building up incredible memories to help encourage you the next time! I have these faith moments that encourage me whenever the devil rears his ugly head and tries to create fear or anxiety! I remember what God has done in and through my life so that what is ahead I know and trust Him in and through the journey! Be it calling me up! Be it speaking encouragement into my life through Pastors who spoke encouragement to me or of me to others building me up! Be it using me to help others! Be it answering prayers! Be it discovering the power of forgiveness! Be it the response during the second trial using the former and choosing to forgive than allow a bitter root to take hold again! Be it spending time cheering on my kids!

Today’s devotional (day 4) speaks into this area based on today’s verse:

Yes! Enjoy Today

I have a hunch. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to say to me, “Rick, one of the problems I struggle with is an inability to enjoy what is happening right now. For some reason I am always looking ahead and just don’t get the joy of the now.” Sound familiar?

I resonate with that sentiment. Here is a perfect example. Prior to my transition journey, I would take my two younger daughters on vacation. We always planned a fun getaway to a very nice destination. In the weeks and days leading up to the vacation, however, I was planning and worrying about how we would get to the airport, when we would have to leave, how we would keep track of the luggage, etc. On the way to the airport I would wonder if I had forgotten to lock the back door at home.

Unlike their worrywart father, my girls were excited. They asked questions about where we were going and what we would be doing while preparing for a terrific family time. I confess I was absent emotionally from sharing in their joy and in their anticipation and discussions because I was too hung up on the details of planning the next step. To make matters worse, when we arrived at our destination I started worrying about making sure we got the luggage and the right transportation to the hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel, I was planning the trip to the pool while unpacking the luggage, and wondering who should get a key to the room. When we got to the pool, I was planning the order for showers afterwards and where we would have dinner. When we got to the restaurant, I was planning how to get back to the hotel or how late I should let the girls stay up. You get the idea.

It was only after an event that I realized that I really didn’t remember much about it. Even today my girls will say, “Dad, remember when we were in California and such and such happened?” I would have absolutely no recollection of the event at all. I was too busy worrying about or planning the next step, instead of enjoying the moment. Today I think of all the joy I have missed that can never be replaced.

Here’s the connection to your transition journey. If you allow anxiety to drive your thoughts, all the blessings you have received will be lost in the worrying about where the next month’s rent will come from or how you will manage to put gas in your car. My friend, whether you go on a vacation or, due to a lack of funds, you have a “stay-cation,” those family memories cannot be relived. They will be gone if you let them. The joy that could have been and should have been will be lost.

What about your journey? Are you focused on tomorrow, next week or next month? Are you planning for the “What ifs” instead of focusing on the right now? First Peter 5:7 reminds us to cast all our anxiety on the Lord. What does that do? It takes the pressure off us and places it on his able shoulders. After all, the prophet Isaiah assures us that God “will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).

Isn’t that great news? The Lord will carry our burden for us, and he provides from his storehouse of wisdom what we need to know to get through this min- ute. If you are traveling on this career journey worrying about tomorrow, isn’t it time to stop and smell the roses? Take some time and look for the blessings you are receiving, the friendships you are making and the answers to prayers you are receiving.

Remember, our heavenly Father loves us unconditionally and wants the very best for us. How can we possibly know how wonderful a life he is providing if we don’t start living in and enjoying this moment?

“Acts 2.0” — will you live the way God wants today in order to be the “Acts 2.0” church the world needs?

Last night I went to service because today there are family things we need to take care of. What an incredibly powerful night and I am always blessed when I get to be a part of the Saturday night church service. Pastor Steve was preaching on the church of the now! The church that is needed in today’s world that speaks clarity rather than non-sense. The church that speaks hope, love, grace, truth into this hurting world. The church that uses God’s Word as a standard and then allows the Holy Spirit to speak through them in a way to prophetically speak into the situation people around them find themselves in and need an answer, a word, some comfort from God about.  So let’s be GRACIOUS, LOVING, SPIRIT LEAD, SPIRIT FED people! We are God’s masterpiece. We can be a doorway or a gateway that God uses to point people back to Him! We can be a doorway or gateway that God uses to speak hope and life into the people He has put into our world. We are in such a place at such a time as this on purpose and for a purpose! So let’s run the race to win! And winning means bringing others with us into the Kingdom of God!

My Notes from the service…

  • When it is darkest, shine the brightest
  • When in spiritual drift, society drops
  • When God gave us His Word, He was giving us His Word (promise)
  • No Word of God ==> like the book of Judges
    • People fell away from God and tried to live like those around them rather than in alignment with God
    • And God continued to provide people to speak prophetically over them and try to draw them back to Him
  • It is God who helps keep us on track
  • The WORD of GOD is what keeps us on track!
  • Consider what is really going on. It’s not PC it’s NS
  • It seems right to man but it leads to death
  • We need a personal encounter with God! Like the one we see in the book of Acts
    • When the Holy Spirit come on them. When Peter who denied Jesus 3 times is filled with the Holy Spirit and is able to prophetically speak into the lives of the people around Him and we see God have encounters with the people
  • We need to realize what is taking place in this very moment! We need to be ready to speak into the lives of the people around us. God thru His Spirit will allow us to speak prophetically into the lives of those around us
    • Speak forth the hope because of the love of God through His Word
    • The purpose of prophetic speech is to encourage, strengthen, and comfort.
  • Consider Romans 12 – speak as if the Word of God

Life in God’s Service

1So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. 2Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
3And because of God’s gracious gift to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you should. Instead, be modest in your thinking, and judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you. 4We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions. 5In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body. 6So we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us. If our gift is to speak God’s message, we should do it according to the faith that we have; 7if it is to serve, we should serve; if it is to teach, we should teach; 8if it is to encourage others, we should do so. Whoever shares with others should do it generously; whoever has authority should work hard; whoever shows kindness to others should do it cheerfully.
9Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. 10Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another. 11Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion. 12Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times. 13Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians, and open your homes to strangers.
14Ask God to bless those who persecute you—yes, ask him to bless, not to curse. 15Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep. 16Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.
17If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good. 18Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody. 19Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God’s anger do it. For the scripture says, “I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord.” 20Instead, as the scripture says: “If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame.” 21Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.

  • Let’s speak without protest, but rather let’s speak with prophetic clarity!
  • What you sow you will reap!
  • Choose whom you will serve!
  • Have answer for people who are getting to the end of their rope!
    • Acceptance ≠ Wholeness
    • Reconciliation requires Forgiveness
  • Imagine a world where every church in the world on the same day preached “The Grace of God” … single message in unison to this world we live in
  • Consider what we read in Genesis 28 where Jacob has a dream…

Jacob’s Dream at Bethel

10Jacob left Beersheba and started toward Haran. 11At sunset he came to a holy place and camped there. He lay down to sleep, resting his head on a stone. 12He dreamed that he saw a stairway reaching from earth to heaven, with angels going up and coming down on it. 13And there was the Lord standing beside him. “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham and Isaac,” he said. “I will give to you and to your descendants this land on which you are lying. 14They will be as numerous as the specks of dust on the earth. They will extend their territory in all directions, and through you and your descendants I will bless all the nations. 15Remember, I will be with you and protect you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done all that I have promised you.”
16Jacob woke up and said, “The Lord is here! He is in this place, and I didn’t know it!” 17He was afraid and said, “What a terrifying place this is! It must be the house of God; it must be the gate that opens into heaven.”

  • Ever realize that the house of God may seem terrifying to people?
    • Ever realize that to some it is a place of judgment and condemnation
    • Ever realize that it takes us stepping out of our comfort zone in order to welcome them in, embracing and loving them with the grace of God
    • God’s house is like a hospital where we can go and be healed, not a court house to be judged nor condemned.
  • Jesus is in their midst
  • Surely the Lord is in this place
  • We need to let the power of God be evident in us
  • We need to be the people whoa re willing to put it out there!
  • We need to run this race to win!!
  • We are God’s masterpieces!
  • We need to be people who are tearing down strongholds!
  • We need to be people like the people in Acts 2:42

42They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers.

  • Then we can start to live like the people in Acts 2:43-47

43Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles, and everyone was filled with awe. 44All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. 45They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. 46Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts, 47praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

  • We need to believe in and for miracles and live in the miraculous
  • Live to be who the world around us needs us to be
  • We got here because we are suffering/in pain/hurting people (into this situation we have around us)
    • hurting people hurt people
  • This is a generation of sexual confusion because of the removal of God’s Word
  • Consider the book of Ephesians’ calling…We used to be under the wrath until Jesus

From Death to Life

1In the past you were spiritually dead because of your disobedience and sins. 2At that time you followed the world’s evil way; you obeyed the ruler of the spiritual powers in space, the spirit who now controls the people who disobey God. 3Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were destined to suffer God’s anger.
4But God’s mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, 5that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God’s grace that you have been saved. 6In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world. 7He did this to demonstrate for all time to come the extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love he showed us in Christ Jesus. 8-9For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it. 10God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.

One in Christ

11You Gentiles by birth—called “the uncircumcised” by the Jews, who call themselves the circumcised (which refers to what men do to their bodies)—remember what you were in the past. 12At that time you were apart from Christ. You were foreigners and did not belong to God’s chosen people. You had no part in the covenants, which were based on God’s promises to his people, and you lived in this world without hope and without God. 13But now, in union with Christ Jesus you, who used to be far away, have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14For Christ himself has brought us peace by making Jews and Gentiles one people. With his own body he broke down the wall that separated them and kept them enemies. 15He abolished the Jewish Law with its commandments and rules, in order to create out of the two races one new people in union with himself, in this way making peace. 16By his death on the cross Christ destroyed their enmity; by means of the cross he united both races into one body and brought them back to God. 17So Christ came and preached the Good News of peace to all—to you Gentiles, who were far away from God, and to the Jews, who were near to him. 18It is through Christ that all of us, Jews and Gentiles, are able to come in the one Spirit into the presence of the Father.
19So then, you Gentiles are not foreigners or strangers any longer; you are now citizens together with God’s people and members of the family of God. 20You, too, are built upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, the cornerstone being Christ Jesus himself. 21He is the one who holds the whole building together and makes it grow into a sacred temple dedicated to the Lord. 22In union with him you too are being built together with all the others into a place where God lives through his Spirit.

  • All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God … but that isn’t the end of the story…

16For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. – John 3

So let’s speak clarity rather than non-sense!
