THRIVE: Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide your day!


Busy calendar? Is it because you have to be or because you let it be? Is it with the right people at the right time on the right topics? Invite God into your scheduling and allow Him to add/remove things from it based on His plans and purpose for your day! Invite the Holy Spirit to grant you wisdom and discernment about what meetings need to happen and which don’t. Invite the Holy Spirit into each meeting to give you the thoughts, the words, and the actions necessary to accomplish God’s will and for Him to receive the glory! Allow new things to be added when the Holy Spirit prompts. Allow existing things to be moved around when the Holy Spirit prompts. Focus on the good works God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish today!

Will you allow the Holy Spirit to clean up your heart, knowing that from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks? Will you allow the Holy Spirit to fill up your heart with love, knowing that from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks? Will you allow the Holy Spirit to heal and restore your heart, knowing that from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks? Will you guard your heart knowing that everything you do flows from it?

So who is in control of your day? Are you rejecting God’s wisdom and discernment or accepting it? Are you rejecting God’s purposes and plans for your day or accepting them? Are you rejecting God’s prompting or accepting it? Are you trying to go it alone or are you willing to go it with God and with others? Let’s choose to go through today with God and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us through it so that we can accomplish God’s will for His glory!

Consider areas where you can add value and produce results! Consider what information you have that would be or could be helpful to others! Consider what questions you need to or could ask to bring brighter clarity and direction to the situation! Consider your role as we step into today and how you can use it to thrive for the glory of God!

Turn to God and ask for wisdom! Turn to God and ask for discernment! Invite the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see, your ears to hear, and then move forward in alignment and obedience to God’s will and God’s way for you today! Let’s choose to live by faith and act in faith! Let’s choose to thrive today for the glory of God!

THRIVE: It’s time to get things started…


Let’s be people who live authentic lives and don’t try to make decisions or choices for others. Why should you limit them by thinking they will say no rather than hopefully thinking they will say yes? Why would you limit them because of your own doubts or fears? Why not share what God is and has done in and through your life rather than allow others to make the decision for themselves if they want to start their own personal relationship with God or not! It’s the beginning of a new workweek and this one feels different. It’s the beginning of a new workweek and it feels like wrapping up in some ways and getting started in others. So I give this day into God’s hands and ask Him to provide me the wisdom and discernment I will need to make it through this day. I give this day into God’s hands and ask Him to provide the protection and health I will need to make it through this day. This is the day that the Lord has made so I will rejoice and be glad in it! I will lean on God more than my own understanding! I will acknowledge God so that He can make my path straight! Thank You Jesus for not leaving me wondering but rather answering my prayer and making the decision clear. Thank You, Lord, for helping me to be able to evaluate and move forward in alignment with Your direction. You are amazing Lord and I am so excited for what is yet to come while at the same time looking to make the most of today which is the present, a gift from You. Help me Lord to live out my today in a way that will bring You the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’s name. Help me Lord to live out my today accomplishing the good works You have prepared in advance for me to do so that when I get them done people will see the good works and give the praise, the honor, and the glory to You, praising my Heavenly Father!

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

THRIVE: So there is a change in direction and so you provide input, …


The first day of the workweek is behind us. I grabbed the concept, the direction, the idea and produced recommendations to support it. So much change is taking place and yet with the final update published my final destination (from a reporting structure) is unclear. The good news is that my final destination (for eternity has been decided). So I lean into God for wisdom and direction! I lean into God for strength the press in and persevere. I lean into God to know what’s next and trust in Him for the perfect answer in the perfect timing and that He will help me walk through each day till the timing is right. In the new world, who can I talk to? In this new world even though I have a past and a history with people does this new change mean I have to hold back or stop reaching out to help? In this new world with so much decided and yet feeling like I am missing the why. When we consider what has been and is now taking place in this world, the words of the book of Hebrews comes to mind where it says:

‘At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”’

Hebrews 12:26-29

Even in looking up and looking at “everything that can be shaken will be shaken” another scripture showed up:

‘“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘

Haggai 2:6-7

Do you feel the shaking taking place in and around your life? What things do you need to let go of or give away? What things do you need to hold onto? Ever considered what things really matter and will last? It’s not the stuff! It’s the people! Even when we consider the gifts of God faith, hope, and love will last and the greatest of these is love. As we consider and contemplate this today will it change the way we choose to live out our today? No matter the struggles that come our way we need to remember that our struggles aren’t against flesh and blood but rather against powers and principalities of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We can’t lose hope when we face these struggles but instead, we need to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds remembering that it is building our faith and that when we persevere and allow perseverance to finish its work we will be complete and lacking nothing. Struggles aren’t for the few but rather Jesus even warned us that “in this world we will have troubles” but He also provides us with a word of hope and He says “but take heart for I have overcome the world“.

So it’s the second day of the workweek. There is an emergency to take care of. There is change and shaking taking place. So let’s not lose hope but instead persevere! Let’s not lose hope but instead put our trust in and lean on God! Let’s not lose hope but instead choose unity at the speed of health to ensure we can all make it through this together.

THRIVE: The direction is clear but the means and purpose uncertain.


What a week. What a week as a dad. What a week as a husband. What a a week as an employee. What a week as a manager. What a week to have behind me.

It makes me think of the quote I have used many times over the years “mom said there would be days like, she didn’t say how many though”.

What a week. To have your oldest daughter pass her final test and get a title change – such a proud moment. To have your younger daughter come home sad, disappointed, and in tears from a trip that should have been over the moon in preparations for many years ahead – sad, mad, and disappointed that the people who we had trusted would make sure she had a great time failed us. To have a son have his first driving class and to hear how well he is doing as his journey to drive has begun – such a proud moment. To learn that things weren’t as they were portrayed and facts were omitted or hidden from me created a night earlier when sleep was a challenge while trying to deal with all the data points and that my thoughts on how to deal with it weren’t being considered to taken seriously. To be told not to help, not to go outside of my lane, when most of my career and life I have been a connector, a helper, when seeing a problem and understanding who can help being able to say something and being told now that I shouldn’t. To hear how I am one of but a few managers who gets what servant leadership is and looks like was a word of encouragement and wind in my sail as the week was coming to an end.

So I choose to trust God! I trust that God knows what is going on and has a plan. I trust that God is good even when my circumstances are not. I trust that God can take what was meant for evil and turn it around and use it for evil. I trust that God uses all things for our good and His glory. I choose to press in and press on, to persevere in the midst of the struggles. I choose to consider it pure joy because it is building my faith and knowing that when perseverance has finished it’s work that I will be complete and lacking nothing. I choose unity in health. I choose to work with my wife and kids to ensure unity in our household and dealing with the consequences of decisions that had been made. I choose to work with my management and team to ensure unity in our workplace and dealing with the changes and disruptions that have come our way. My hope is built on nothing less that Jesus’s blood and righteous! Jesus is the foundation and the power source for my hope! I turn to God for wisdom and discernment to help me make the right decisions and choices as I move forward in faith trusting in His perfect timing and believing that He is working all of this for my good and His glory, in Jesus’s name.

THRIVE: It requires wisdom and discernment. It requires a word from God.


Can you believe it is March already? When I look back to the year starting with major change and the trickle-down impact it would or was going to have, I couldn’t imagine we would be at this point today. When I consider 2022 and the speed at which time has taken us into the third year of the month blows my mind. At the same time, the decision speed is an interesting area because it depends on perspective and where you are looking as well as where you are looking from. From one perspective it seems like progress and significant progress has been made with the decisions that were made and actions that were taken. From another perspective, it seems like a forgotten asset or an asset that nobody is sure what to do with, even though they know it is needed to continue. From another perspective, looking over the landscape and considering the place where THRIVE is able to happen instead of surviving or existing comes to mind where you can look to the left and see stability, need, and constants, while looking to the right you see opportunity, excitement, need, and growth. The reality is from our perspective we can’t see the full picture. The reality is that we need God’s perspective because He sees everything, from the beginning to the end, He has a plan and a purpose, and to accomplish His will, we need His wisdom and discernment. we need His instruction and direction, we need a word from Him.

So today we need confirmation from God. We have the opportunity to speak with godly men and hear their thoughts and their views of what is yet to come. We have the opportunity to speak with men who trust in God for their own lives. We have the opportunity to hear what they think and what they recommend. In the midst of all of this, we need God to speak and make it clear. We need God to provide direction and peace about going in that direction. We need God to provide direction and that we will be bold and courageous to obey and step into what He is calling us to do. We need God to provide confirmation so that we can step up and step out in faith, even if we can only see the first step of the staircase and move forward into God’s purpose and God’s plan for our life. So today, as my day begins, I lean in on God and look to hear from Him through His Word and through my brothers in Christ, in order to discern God’s will and plan for me today.

‘My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? ‘

As a deer pants for streams of water, my soul pants for God. My soul thirst for God who I go to and meet with. I am so grateful for Jesus who came that I didn’t need another mediator between me and God but I can go directly to God thanks to what He did. I am so grateful that I don’t need to go it alone but can turn to Jesus at the crossroads of life for wisdom and direction. I am so grateful that I don’t need to figure it out on my own because Jesus sent me the Holy Spirit to be my comforter and my guide, my counselor, and my advocate. So today, rather than worrying or getting anxious, I am able to cast my cares on God because He cares for me and I can be in a relationship with God to learn and grow and know which way to go. I don’t have to wait to go and meet with God but can call at Him right where I am at because He is Immanuel, God with us! He will never leave me and never abandon me! So I put my hope and trust in God as I start off this day!

Let’s Read the Bible Together (February)

catching up on the days I missed (back to Feb 7th)

THRIVE: Here I go again (but not on my own) starting my week with God.


Unlike the song by Whitesnake Here I Go Again” which has the lyrics of “Here I go again on my own“, as I prepare for this day, I start it with God and His Word because I know that God is with me. We see if we listen to the lyrics, we see how in this song it calls out to God in the midst of feeling alone when it says “Oh, Lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on
” and it shows the importance of choosing to persevere when it says “And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time
“. We may feel like we are alone today. We may even feel like we are drifting down a road we don’t know. But let’s not get stuck there. Let’s not get held back there by ourselves but instead invite Jesus into our very situation for wisdom and discernment, direction and instruction, to help us navigate this road ahead. Let’s be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is saying to us so that we don’t go off track but stay on the straight and narrow so that we can glorify God. When we aren’t sure what to do, let’s get back to basics and grab hold of the 10 Words or we like to call commandments God gave Moses and all of Israel, let’s get back to basics and grab hold of Jesus’s calling to live to a higher standard first loving God and then loving people.

So today with all the changes that have already taken place, let’s cling to God putting our hope and trust in Him. With the changes that are in the wind but yet to be announced, let’s cling to God and put all of our hope and trust in Him. With the unknown still before us, let’s cling to God knowing that He is using the change for His glory and our good. Let’s look to the leaders God has put in authority over us. Let’s be the leaders God has called for us to be. Let’s live by example for the world to see and glorify our Heavenly Father.

Let’s Read the Bible Together (February)

What happens when you realize you missed a few things?


Do you go back and do it? Do you carry it along and then do it last? Do you see how you can integrate it? Do you try to fix it? You might wonder how this came to mind. I realized not checking the dates as I have been blogging of late and have discovered I am off in terms of actual dates versus the dates in the devotional. I know God’s plan is perfect as they still spoke right into those days and have the feeling today I need to go back and play catch up before I move forward again. Earlier I figured I would do it later as the first instance was back in August where 2 days were missed and then I determined to just get back on track to the real days and then I discovered as I finished yesterday I missed 2 days in November. So today is the beginning of catch up. I will date them as the calendar dates instead of the book dates since this is when I am going through them though which won’t align for those who go looking in the actual devotional book. God is good. God’s timing is perfect! So I give this day into His hands trusting Him for the wisdom and discernment to be able to accomplish His will with boldness and courage for His glory.

What to do when you’re weak


MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

‘Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”’

Matthew 26:41

Let’s dig a bit deeper into today’s verse to get context with some extra verses and more details using the Amplified version.

‘Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane (olive-press), and He told His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” And taking with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee [James and John], He began to be grieved and greatly distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, so that I am almost dying of sorrow. Stay here and stay awake and keep watch with Me.” And after going a little farther, He fell face down and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible [that is, consistent with Your will], let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not stay awake and keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep actively watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” He went away a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.” Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. So, leaving them again, He went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words once more. Then He returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Listen, the hour [of My sacrifice] is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners [whose way and nature is to oppose God]. Get up, let us go. Look, My betrayer is near!” ‘

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • Ever looked for a good example of what to do or how to respond in weakness?
  • Ever taken hold of God’s Word that in our weakness His strength is revealed?
  • Ever taken hold of what groups like Alcoholics Anonymous do?
    • Side note: It was an awkward feeling and yet very powerful one I had many years back when I was at a mens’ retreat and one of the men who came had to attend an AA meeting and so a group of us to encourage him said we would go too. I didn’t know what that would mean as I don’t drink. But it was a very powerful moment in two ways. First the support and encouragement to our brother by us going with him and using our free time to be with him there. Second to get to see the power of God working to free men from alcoholism through such an incredible group and 12 step program.
  • It requires honesty to admit you are feeling weak.
  • Admiting that the weakness caused you to fall into temptation is the first step in addressing the temptation and the problem.
  • Denial that you have a problem or a weakness doesn’t help you get stronger or break the tempations power over you.
  • Shrugging it off like it isn’t a big deal doesn’t help you get to the root of the problem or get stronger in dealing with the temptations.
  • So let’s be honest about our weakness in order that we, like those who go to AA, can stand on the foundation for recovery, growth, and strength.
  • So are you someone who won’t be honest and admit weaknesses?
  • Are you someone who likes to portray that you have everything together?
  • Are you someone who because of this brovado find yourself falling into temptation?
  • Do you have temptations that relate to sex, to ethics, to material things, to neglecting God, or any other from a long list of areas of your life?
  • Jesus tells us to avoid temptation when we are weak!
    • Watch for trouble. By doing this we are on the lookout for it and can act before it springs its trap to catch us.
    • Conect with God. When we are feeling weak we need to pray!

As we move into December we have finished the readings of the Tanakh and I thank Sefaria for their resources in helping me to see the Old Testament in a new way and my friend Lionel for having shared this tool with me. As we kick off December the idea my wife brought up came to mind about going through the book of Luke (who was a doctor) which happens to have 24 chapters which mean we can read one a day and complete it in time for Christmas. To get as many details from this I am going to use the Amplified version to try and grasp all the details Luke gives us to consider and learn.

So today we will read Luke 2:

‘Now in those days a decree went out from [the emperor] Caesar Augustus, that all the inhabited world (the Roman Empire) should be registered [in a census]. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to register for the census, each to his own city. So Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register with Mary, who was betrothed to him, and was with child. While they were there [in Bethlehem], the time came for her to give birth, and she gave birth to her Son, her firstborn; and she wrapped Him in [ swaddling] cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no [private] room for them in the inn. In the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. For this day in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord (the Messiah). And when they had seen this, they made known what had been told them about this Child, and all who heard it were astounded and wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured all these things, giving careful thought to them and pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as it had been told them.

At the end of eight days, when He was to be circumcised, He was named Jesus, the name given [to Him] by the angel [Gabriel] before He was conceived in the womb. And when the time for their purification came [that is, the mother’s purification and the baby’s dedication] according to the Law of Moses, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord [set apart as the Firstborn] (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy [set apart and dedicated] to the Lord )” and [they came also] to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord [to be appropriate for a family of modest means], “ a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons .” Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout [carefully observing the divine Law], and looking for the Consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). Prompted by the Spirit, he came into the temple [enclosure]; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for Him the custom required by the Law, Simeon took Him into his arms, and blessed and praised and thanked God, and said, “Now, Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to leave [this world] in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your Salvation, Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, A Light for revelation to the Gentiles [to disclose what was previously unknown], And [to bring] the praise and honor and glory of Your people Israel.” And His [legal] father and His mother were amazed at what was said about Him. Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Listen carefully: this Child is appointed and destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that is to be opposed— and a sword [of deep sorrow] will pierce through your own soul—so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” There was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old, and had lived with her husband for seven years after her marriage, and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She did not leave the [area of the] temple, but was serving and worshiping night and day with fastings and prayers. She, too, came up at that very moment and began praising and giving thanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to all who were looking for the redemption and deliverance of Jerusalem.

And when they had done everything [in connection with Jesus’ birth] according to the Law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth. And the Child continued to grow and become strong [in spirit], filled with wisdom; and the grace (favor, spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him.

Now His parents went to Jerusalem every year for the Passover Feast. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the Feast; and as they were returning [to Nazareth], after spending the required number of days [at the Feast], the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem. Now His parents did not know this, but supposed Him to be in the caravan, and traveled a day’s journey; and [then] they began searching [anxiously] for Him among their relatives and acquaintances. When they did not find Him, they went back to Jerusalem looking for Him [everywhere]. Three days later they found Him in the [court of the] temple, sitting among the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard Him were amazed by His intelligence and His understanding and His answers. When they saw Him, they were overwhelmed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us like this? Listen, Your father and I have been [greatly distressed and] anxiously looking for You.” And He answered, “Why did you have to look for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” But they did not understand what He had said to them. He went down to Nazareth with them, and was continually submissive and obedient to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men.’

So where are you at today? Are you feeling weak and needing God’s strength to make it through? Are you feeling weak and turning to God for wisdom and discernment into how to navigate this time in your life? Let’s get started by connecting with God! Let’s get started with doing things that will energize us, body, soul, and mind. Let’s walk out our today in relationship with Jesus! Let’s pray:

News… what’s in it for you?


What comes to mind when you think of the NEWS? Is it timing? The morning NEWS, the mid-day NEWS, the end of day NEWS, or the late night NEWS? Is it categorized? Top NEWS, Political NEWS, Business NEWS, Money NEWS, Medical NEWS, Local NEWS, Regional NEWS, National NEWS, Global NEWS, Sports NEWS, Scientific NEWS, Technological NEWS, Entertainment NEWS, Business NEWS, or do you have specific topics you want or like to follow? Is it the media format? Newspaper? Internet? Broadcast? Local? Regional? Cable? What draws you to it? What keeps you coming back for more? What types of reports get your attention more than others? Is it a good use of your time? What’s in it for you?

How much of your time gets used up on NEWS? Is it really NEWS or is it gossip? Is it really NEWS or it is media trying to get eyeballs? Is it really NEWS or is it a way to make money? Do you check the NEWS on your computer? Do you listen to the NEWS on your commute? Do you watch the NEWS on TV? Do you get the NEWS through the Newspaper? Is it worth the time and energy? What’s in it for you?

When you consider the NEWS you consume, when it is done, do you feel better or worse? Do you feel more at peace or more stressed? Do you feel happier or sadder? Do you want more or do you want to turn it off and walk away? What do you do though? What’s in it for you?

I was talking with someone recently about my limited consumption of NEWS and the way(s) I consume it and how I don’t consume many of the distribution methods because they seem to be too negative or bad NEWS. I have a focused set of things I am interested in and so I have a single source to get a wide variety of content in order to hear what is taking place in the world and then I let it go and give my day up to God! It was interesting how in the conversation I shared how I don’t bother watching or listening to too much NEWS because most of it is bad NEWS and how I had heard it is part of the media companies plans because bad NEWS keeps people glued to the station. They shared a few apps that I was able to check out on my phone that only report good NEWS. Imagine a world focused on doing good, reporting on good, and reinforcing good NEWS. Imagine if people thought they would get more visibility and attention for doing good things. Remember how kids want attention and if the only time they get attention is when they do something bad, guess what they are going to do? Imagine a world that reinforced that doing good is how people could get more attention, imagine if it was that way in our families and homes too. What do you want more of? Do you want real NEWS or fake NEWS? Do you want GOOD NEWS or bad NEWS? What’s in it for you?

How do you source your information? Do you use search engines? Do you use social media? Do you use subscription services? Do you use local TV? Do you use cable or satellite TV? Do you use local or national radio programs? How do you choose? How do you trust? How do you discern? How do you believe? What’s in it for you?

Aren’t you ready for more GOOD NEWS? Aren’t you wanting to understand the truth? Don’t you want to the world to be a better place? Don’t you want a world that is united versus divided? What do you think it would take? What do you think your part in it is? What’s in it for you?

Sharing the Good News

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • How do you communicate/connect with others?
  • Does it matter their proximity or do you use the same method no matter how close or how far they are from you?
  • Do you use email, texting, messengers, and other such tech to communicate and connect with people in the next room and around the world?
  • What would it take for you to go old school and hand deliver the message?
  • I know with COVID that makes things a bit more challenging but it shouldn’t be about social distancing but rather physical distancing which means you can still deliver the message in person.
  • In the old days people may have had to brave the elements to deliver a message and yet today with all the comforts and technology messages either get sent or missed, delivered or deleted because they all end up in that thing called an inbox.
  • In the old days they needed to make the effort through the weather and the threats to be able to deliver the good and the bad news to the intended recipient.
  • In the old days people had to deliver their messages with sandals and feet compared to today’s world of computers and cell phones.

  • Do you realize that you can receive the same type of freedom today as the Jewish exiles did when they received the message from Isaiah in Babylon that they were now freed from captivity, after 70 years of captivity, torture, and humiliation, they were free?
  • We can be like Isaiah bringing the Good News to the people of the world around us by sharing the truth that by accepting and receiving Jesus Christ’s forgiveness they can be set free too!
  • Would you accept the calling to bring the Good News to others that they too may be set free?
  • Would you accept the calling to bring the Good News to others that they can be set free from the powers of sin and death?
  • Are you ready to deliver the best news they will ever hear?

How can you bless someone?


Do you realize the importance of acknowledging others? Do you realize the importance of expressing how valued others are? Do you realize the importance of telling someone you appreciate them? Do you realize the importance of telling someone they did good? Do you realize the importance of celebrating victories with others? Do you realize the importance of celebrating milestones with others? Do you realize that you have a part to play in making sure that everyone in the group is appreciated for the work they do?

So what can you do about it? How can you bless someone today? Now that you know you can’t say you didn’t. Some may think that ignorance is bliss because if you don’t know something then you don’t have to worry about it. Worry changes nothing but prayer changes everything! God doesn’t want us to worry, God wants us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us! With all the technology, all the social media, all the broadcast technology that is taking place, it can be a choice to not know. When you think of the word ignorance what comes to mind? Is it any of these words?

incomprehension, unawareness, unconsciousness, inexperience, innocence, unfamiliarity with, lack of enlightenment about, lack of knowledge about, lack of information about, cluelessness, nescience, lack of knowledge, lack of education, unenlightenment, benightedness, lack of intelligence, unintelligence, stupidity, foolishness, idiocy, denseness, brainlessness, mindlessness, slow-wittedness, thickness, dimness, dumbness, dopiness, doziness

So why not turn to God and ask Him for wisdom and discernment? Why not turn to God rather than trying to stick your head in the ground in order to avoid the world? Why not turn to God for health and protection rather than avoiding the opportunity to accomplish His will and plans for your life? Take time to hear from God so that you know the what, the why, the how, the who, the where, and the when and then step up and step out boldly and with courage knowing that God has you protected to get it done His way!

So now that you know how important it is to bless someone, what will you do today? Will you be on the watch to catch someone doing something that you can recognize them for? Will you be on your guard to find something good that your team, your family, and your friends have done? Will you take a half hour to express it?

You are blessed in order that you can be a blessing to others! God blesses you so that you can bless others!

Ignorance is no excuse


MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

As I read this and want to learn more, I took a look at the Amplified translation and it goes like this:

‘ If you [profess ignorance and] say, Behold, we did not know this, does not He Who weighs and ponders the heart perceive and consider it? And He Who guards your life, does not He know it? And shall not He render to [you and] every man according to his works?’

Proverbs 24:12

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • Don’t make an excuse about it!
  • Will you take accountability for what you have or haven’t done?
  • Will you take responsibility for your mistakes?
  • Will you stop blaming or pointing fingers at others?
  • Don’t make up stories to try and make it look like you didn’t have a choice!
  • God is gracious!
  • God is forgiving!
  • God is also omniscient and omnipresent, so nothing goes unseen!

  • How did you respond to the Holy Spirit when He told you to do or not do something?
  • Will you listen?
  • What would it take for you to listen to such godly guidance?
  • Will you take accountability for what you have done?
  • Will you avoid making up excuses?
  • For Christians, the day of reckoning will evaluate our deeds and motives as believers and have to give an account and no excuse will work!
  • For Christians, the day of reckoning isn’t about the judgment of heaven or hell.
  • Let’s do our part to be able to hear on that day “Well done, good and faithful servant
  • Let’s enter into the joy of God!

What to do?


It’s new and gathering information can help frame things. It’s new and the parameters are vague. It’s new and it is up to you to define it. It’s new and it requires that the management chain agree and are aligning or in alignment. How can you do it? How can you scope it? How deep of a dive will it take? Get the information, make the plan, and the allow God to lead your steps. This is the day that the Lord has made, so let’s rejoice and be glad in it. Don’t be anxious for anything but through prayer and supplication and petition bring them to God. Cast your cares and anxiety upon for the Lord because He cares for you.


Don’t allow the past to be thrown in your face and try to rob you of your joy. Don’t allow the failures and challenges of the past to be used against you by the devil, take hold of the power and promises of Jesus and remind the devil of his destiny. So let’s seek God’s mercy and healing to help us be strengthened and renewed. Let’s invite God I to our very situation and speak the truth in love providing wisdom and discernment for how to proceed today.


“HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly [and repeatedly] from my iniquity and guilt and cleanse me and make me wholly pure from my sin!”

Let’s take hold of the reality of the sacrifice of Jesus who opened the door to forgiveness of our sins by giving His life on the cross. Let’s celebrate the cleansing power of His blood shed for us that washes the redness of sin away and makes us why as snow. Let’s praise Him for allowing us to be transformed and to become more and more like Him daily. Let’s not be tempted into sin but rather lean on God and be delivered from the evil one.

So let us pray first and and then reflect on the 2 verses that follow to ensure we live out our today to the fullest.

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Now if we don’t stop there but instead take hold of what is said in the next two verses we can be prepared for the day ahead and the past that is behind us.

““For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Be cautious and shrewd of people who have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. So let’s choose to flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Find contentment in all aspects of your life, just as Paul who said “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Don’t lose hope for God’s love endures forever!


August is in the rearview mirror. They say hindsight is 2020. Let’s choose to learn from the lessons of 2020 in order to be prepared to accomplish all that God has prepared in advance for us to accomplish.

  • 1 Timothy 6
    • ‘All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves. These are the things you are to teach and insist on. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.     • ‘But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things ; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them, “Go up and spy out the region.” So the men went up and spied out Ai. The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?” The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction. “Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord , the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them. “ ‘In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe the Lord chooses shall come forward clan by clan; the clan the Lord chooses shall come forward family by family; and the family the Lord chooses shall come forward man by man. Whoever is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the Lord and has done an outrageous thing in Israel!’ ” Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was chosen. The clans of Judah came forward, and the Zerahites were chosen. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was chosen. Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was chosen. Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord , the God of Israel, and honor him. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me.” Achan replied, “It is true!     • ‘Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. As day 261 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Do you realize the value of having the wisdom and knowledge of God?


Ever been in a situation where you felt you were way over your head? Ever turned to God for answers? for help? for wisdom? for knowledge? The example for me that comes to mind was back at a time when I was much younger and God had called me to join a homeowners association board and then later after much back and forth between He and I called me to step up into the role as president of the homeowners association. With the size of the community as I reflect on things it was almost like being mayor in terms of managing the private areas (parks), the pools, the security, and more. A challenge came to me where I needed to hire an executive director for the association. In my day job that person would have been much higher than me on the job ladder but in my role as president it was responsibility to find the right person for the job. So I turned to God. I called out to Him as He was the one who had called me to step up to be president and so I was going to need His help in picking the right candidate. I remember hearing back “Rick” and didn’t know what that meant. So we posted the job and we narrowed down the candidates to two people. One was Richard and the other was not. I had two other board members interview with me and one board member selected the other person and the second board member said he felt either of them would be able to do it. So it was up to me to decide. As I considered it and prayed, God reminded me of “Rick” and so I went with Richard, which ended up being a great choice and he was loved by the association members, even to the point I got letters of appreciation for his work. Now the part that I didn’t know about till much later was that the other candidate, the one that one of the board members had recommended get hired, well they happened to be related and I can only imagine the trouble that would have caused had God’s wisdom and knowledge not shown up and provided me direction and guidance in this decision. I had interviewed people previously, just not normally so much higher in seniority than me. God is good and if we are willing as we receive the Spirit to then walk in the Spirit to wait on Him and seek Him for wisdom and discernment about the things in our lives, He is faithful to answer.

So today would you consider going beyond knowledge of God to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ our Lord? Would you consider going beyond knowledge of God to having knowledge with God? Would you consider going from knowledge with God to knowledge from God?

Hindsight is 2020 they say. Is there anything from your past you can pick up and learn from today? Is there anything that you could do to slow down and not worry about tomorrow but just focus on today? Don’t worry about tomorrow, focus on today as today will have enough things to keep you busy. Let’s learn from the past so we won’t be doomed to repeat it! Let’s keep our eyes on God and allow His wisdom and knowledge lead us and guide us through His Holy Spirit who will provide us with a peace that surpasses all understanding!

  • Today’s reading gets us started with Romans 11:26-36:
    • ‘and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord?     • ‘Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things. No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil. They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, and when one is broken, an adder is hatched. Their cobwebs are useless for clothing; they cannot cover themselves with what they make.   • Today’s reading continues with Job 35:
    • ‘Then Elihu said: “Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am in the right, not God.’ Yet you ask him, ‘What profit is it to me, and what do I gain by not sinning?’ “I would like to reply to you and to your friends with you. Look up at the heavens and see; gaze at the clouds so high above you. If you sin, how does that affect him? If your sins are many, what does that do to him? If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand? Your wickedness only affects humans like yourself, and your righteousness only other people. “People cry out under a load of oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful.     • ‘“Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook? Will it keep begging you for mercy? Will it speak to you with gentle words? Will it make an agreement with you for you to take it as your slave for life? Can you make a pet of it like a bird or put it on a leash for the young women in your house? Will traders barter for it? Will they divide it up among the merchants? Can you fill its hide with harpoons or its head with fishing spears? If you lay a hand on it, you will remember the struggle and never do it again! Any hope of subduing it is false; the mere sight of it is overpowering. No one is fierce enough to rouse it. Who then is able to stand against me? Who has a claim against me that I must pay? The folds of its flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable. Its chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.   • Today’s reading then concludes with Ecclesiastes 8:
    • ‘Who is like the wise? Who knows the explanation of things? A person’s wisdom brightens their face and changes its hard appearance. Obey the king’s command, I say, because you took an oath before God. Do not be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence. Do not stand up for a bad cause, for he will do whatever he pleases. Since a king’s word is supreme, who can say to him, “What are you doing?” Whoever obeys his command will come to no harm, and the wise heart will know the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery. Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come? As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it. All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun. There is a time when a man lords it over others to his own hurt. Then too, I saw the wicked buried—those who used to come and go from the holy place and receive praise in the city where they did this. This too is meaningless. When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong. Although a wicked person who commits a hundred crimes may live a long time, I know that it will go better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him. Yet because the wicked do not fear God, it will not go well with them, and their days will not lengthen like a shadow. There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless. So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun. When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the labor that is done on earth—people getting no sleep day or night— then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.’
      Ecclesiastes 8:1-17

Understanding…


Do you have it? Do you want it? Do you need it?

Remember how we aren’t to lean on our own understanding? We need to trust God. We need to acknowledge Him in all our ways. We need to allow Him to make our path straight.

Ever considered what God’s Word says about understanding?

  • We need to observe God’s statutes and ordinances carefully as that shows wisdom and understanding to others. (Deut 4:5-6)
  • We need to accept God’s words and hide his commandments in our hearts then if we listen closely, call out to God, and seek wisdom and understanding like treasure then we will find wisdom and discernment of honoring and glorifying God who will give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. (Prov 2:2-6)

There is more and when we look to God, trusting in Him, in the midst of a storm or confusion, we can wait upon Him to reveal the truth and help us to understand and accomplish His perfect will and plan. Let’s make God’s purpose our purpose and God’s will our will as we prepare for today.

Have you gotten adopted into the family of God?


Ever felt like your hands were tied and keeping you from being who you are supposed to be? Ever wondered why things are playing out the way they are? Ever turned to God in those moments for wisdom, for discernment, for strength, for hope, for love, for peace, or even to help you have a good attitude? Ever wondered what was going on as you feel like you are no longer in the know or in the loop? Do you persevere and work as unto the Lord?

Where are you at today? If you have already received Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior, you can have the confidence and the hope that you have been adopted into the family of God! With that confidence no matter what happens today, you can know that in the end you will arrive in heaven to spend eternity with God! So lift your head and walk with hope! Rather than rushing through anxious and troubling times to get to the next, why not take hold of God’s instruction when anxious and troubling times comes your way? Be anxious for nothing but through prayer and petition, bring your cares and needs to God! In this world you will have troubles but take heart for Jesus has overcome the world! Consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds because we know it is a process, and we know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance. When we let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

God knows where you are! God knows what you are going through! So rather than trying to go it alone or trying to do it all in your own strength, why not turn back to God and give your cares to Him because He cares for you! Remember the deal Jesus gave us to give Him our burdens for His are light, give up our yoke for His is easy?

So as we prepare for this day, let’s thank God and praise Jesus for everything He has already given us! Let’s be filled up with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God through today’s reading! Let’s not start the day on empty but rather on full! Let’s be a bright light for the truth and the love of God, a city on a hill that can’t be hidden! Let’s be salt that is able to purify the situations and season lives in the name and the power of Jesus!

Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow get angry! In so doing, let’s give the Holy Spirit time and space to be able to not only encourage us but also give us the wisdom and discernment to be able to speak if and when we need to. The people out there need bible believing Christians to be walking in the power of God and speaking life and love during these trying times, not with blinders on but with clarity of mind and heart and spirit!

Who will you speak truth and hope and life over today? Who might you welcome into the kingdom of God? Who might you help get adopted into the family of God?

  • God’s plans for you are good! God’s plans are to give you a hope and a future!
  • Don’t live by the flesh! Live by the Spirit of God instead!
  • Let’s not allow the temptations of the flesh rob us of the divine promises, the divine appointments, the divine plans, and the divine works of God in and through our lives!
  • When we receive Jesus and are born again, we are children of the promise!
  • So today as we start things off, let’s walk free!
  • Before we close, let’s take a moment and meditate what God spoke through His Word and listen to a song and reflect on who we are thanks to Jesus:
  • God is good to His promise!
  • God’s timing is perfect!
  • God brings us laughter!
  • Trust God at His Word!
  • What is it God would have you do today in order to be a blessing to others?
  • Will you leave the past behind you and walk forward in the power and promises of God?

To get the credit, you need to believe!


It’s not about how much you can do or how good you can be. It’s not about checking boxes or being able to try and meet all the requirements. It’s about faith! It’s about believing God! We aren’t saved by what we can do or by the works we can accomplish! We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ so that nobody can boast! It isn’t by our own strength but rather by the grace and power of God! We learn that it was because Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

So to be saved, we need Jesus! To get the credit needed to spend eternity in Heaven with God, we need to believe! To get the credit of righteousness, we need to believe God!

What do you believe? Do you believe the news? Do you believe the papers? Do you believe the internet? Do you believe the tabloids? Do you believe the billboards? Do you believe the radio? Do you believe the TV? Do you believe God’s Word? Do you believe God?

How is what you are believing impacting the way you live your life? How is what you are believing impacting the way you see life? How is what you are believing impacting the way you respond to life?

Why not, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness? Why not, take time to worship and pray to God? Instead of being anxious or worries, why not bring your prayers and petitions to God with thanksgiving, present your requests to God? Wouldn’t you rather give up worry and anxiety for the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Let’s take hold of the truth that Jesus is the answer! Let’s believe God and God’s Word!

Let’s be like Abraham and receive the credit from God for believing, the credit of righteous not because we are so good but because of everything Jesus has already done for us! Let’s walk by faith and not by sight! Let’s measure everything up against God’s Word in order to be able to discern the truth! Let’s not be fooled by lies and trickery but instead measure it up against God’s Word that is unfailing and never changing and always reliable and dependable!

  • We are saved by grace through faith, not by works so nobody can boast
  • Let’s believe like Abraham and be children and friends of God!
  • As rely on faith, we are blessed like Abraham
  • Don’t be cursed by chasing the law but instead let us believe God and walk in accordance to His will.
  • The law came because of the way people were living and in order to help people realize what safe and healthy boundaries are
  • We aren’t saved by the law but through faith in Jesus!
  • The law was trying to keep us contained till we could come to faith in Jesus!
  • We need to believe in Jesus! He is the way, the truth, and the life! He is the only way to the Father!
  • We need to believe in Jesus! For when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become new creations where the old is gone and the new has come!
  • What will you do to ensure unity? What will you do to be able to stop and prevent quarrelling?
  • God’s good to His Word! By believing God and in God and receiving by faith Jesus into our hearts, we become children of God and Abraham’s offspring by faith!
  • Will you receive the promise of God? Will you accept the promise of God?
  • Will you look to pass on a heritage that is godly?
  • Will you pass on a legacy of faith?
  • Will you pass on a blessing to your children?
  • God is faithful and just!
  • God can make a way even when there doesn’t seem to be a way!
  • Will you God the praise, the honor, and the glory for accomplishing His will, His promises, His plans, and His purposes?
  • Will you testify to the goodness of God?
  • Will you testify to the faithfulness of God?
  • Will you testify to the truth of God?
  • How will you know if and who are the right partners for your children?
  • So let’s walk by faith! Let’s allow our actions be done as the overflow of our faith!
  • Faith without works is dead! Allow your works be evidence of your faith!
  • Do you realize what the law does? Do you realize there are laws that were written over the years by men for evil purposes?
  • Measure the laws of man against the Word of God to determine if they are good or not!
  • Will you be like Abraham and accept by faith what God tells you?
  • Will you need a law that sets the boundaries for your life beyond what God tells you?
  • Will you live by faith and be blessed?
  • Will you live cursed because of your lack of faith in God?
  • Will you live eternity blessed through Jesus Christ?
  • Will you live eternity curses by rejecting Jesus Christ?

Be sensitive to the Spirit, so you can walk out today with wisdom and discernment!


Do you see what is going on around you? Are you going around doing God’s work? Are you walking in the leading of the Holy Spirit? Are you sensitive to the Spirit so that when that prompting of the still quiet voice happens you can hear it and respond? What if a situation arose, would you be listening to the Holy Spirit for wisdom about what is really going on? What if a situation arose, would you be able to discern what to do because you are being sensitive to the Holy Spirit?

Knowing isn’t enough, we need to be able to apply it! Hence: Knowledge is gathered from learning and education, while most say that wisdom is gathered from day-to-day experiences and is a state of being wiseKnowledge is merely having clarity of facts and truths, while wisdom is the practical ability to make consistently good decisions in life.

Understanding isn’t enough, we need to be able to distinguish and judge.

So today as you would out your life, be sensitive to the Spirit in order to be able to walk out today in alignment to God’s plan, purpose, and will. Today you will be faced with many options and questions and decisions. Choose wisely by seeking wisdom from God through the Holy Spirit! Today you will have many decisions to make and answers to give. Response with discernment received through the Holy Spirit in order to be able to glorify God in all that you say and do!

  • Will you dive into the Word of God so that when the Spirit speaks to you, you will find wisdom and discernment?
  • Will you walk out today in the name of God? Will you be know as a follower of Jesus? Will you be labeled a Christian?
  • Who are you? What is your purpose? What is your destiny?

What would you say if asked about if some of the things going on were signs of the end?


What if they asked if the plague called COVID-19 was a sign of the end? What if they asked if the giant murder hornets was a sign of the end? How would you answer?

I know that every year when I get to the book of Revelation I feel we are getting closer and closer. I also know God says we won’t know the day or the time but that we are to be prepared. I also know that Jesus says we need to be able to distinguish the times like we can the seasons. I also know that the Good News needs to be able to make it around the world so that everyone gets a chance to make the choice of receiving or rejecting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I also know that even though some people it is taking too long or that God is being slow, God’s Word explains how He isn’t being slow, He is being patient for He would rather everyone turn back to Him rather than spend eternity apart from Him! So is He coming back? The short answer is yes! Are the things taking place around the world signs of the end times? As I said earlier, each year when I get to Revelation and get to study God’s Word it feels like we are getting closer. The name of this blog is even connected to that as in 2005 when I started my reading was from the book of Revelation and hence the “to eternity” part.

So the short answer would be that we just need to be ready because when Jesus comes back in the sky we want to be a part of the group that gets taken up to be with Him rather than the group who get left behind. We need to put all our hope and trust in Jesus! Remember He came that we can be saved! Remember we have to choose Him! We all get to make the choice of how we want to spend the rest of our lives here on earth and into eternity!

  • Joseph went through a lot of tough times that gave him humility at a young age so that when he was put in charge, he was prepared in advance to be able to handle.
  • Joseph resisted Potiphar’s wife and was wrongfully accused and imprisoned but he continue to put his trust in God.
  • Through it all Joseph was living in a way to glorify God and God showed him kindness and favor in each situation from slave to prisoner to all of Egypt.
  • Will you live out your today in faith or out of fear?
  • Will you give everything to God in faith? Will you hold some things back out of fear?
  • Has God given you a dream? A vision of what is yet to come? A calling on your life?
  • Will you realize it? Will you be a good steward of it? Will you be honest? Will you trust God? Will you pursue God’s plan and purpose for your life?
  • Will you forgive? Will you be an instrument of reconciliation?
  • Will you trust God enough that it will overcome and overpower fear?
  • Faith over fear!
  • God knows of what you have need of, even before you ask. Will you ask?
  • What is it that God would have you do today?
  • What is it that God would desire you to accomplish today as a good steward?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

If life is a puzzle, do you have all the pieces?


Do you have peace in your life? Do you have grace in your life? Do you have faith? Do you have hope? Do you have love? Do you have wisdom? Do you have discernment? Do you have the resurrection power? Do you have …? Do you have all the pieces to be able to live life well?

This morning when I woke up the words “I know when I’m surrounded, I know I’m surrounded by you” kept looping through my mind. So I am going to start my day by putting on praise!

As I get prepared for today I know the key peace to starting my day well is to turn to God’s Word. Ever since my encounter with God back in 2001 and the journey to build a relationship with Him, God’s Word has been a source for wisdom and answers. Ever since 2005 when God asked me to post my morning lessons in a blog, I have been sharing God’s Word with others through my posts. When it began I started in the book of revelation and hence the blog name of from2005toeternity. The URL may have changed over the years from windows live spaces over to wordpress but the purpose and the obedience has continued through it all.

How about your heart? Do you have all the pieces? Have you filled that God shaped piece with Jesus? Have you invite Jesus into your heart and your life so that you won’t keep trying to fill that void with things that aren’t good for you, aren’t healthy, and won’t ever be able to fill that spot?

Are there any other pieces that are missing from allowing your life to be complete? Are they missing or have they just not been added yet? Have they been lost or just undiscovered? How interested are you in completing the puzzle called life? Like a puzzle we may not know where each piece fits but as long as we have all the pieces and we are willing to press on and persevere, once day it will be complete. Like a puzzle if you get all of it done and then discover you don’t have all the pieces, it can be frustrating and at times disappointing or just sad, feeling that you wasted all that time for nothing.

It’s a new day! It’s a new way! Are you ready to play?


Change is a foot! As I get ready for this new day I will start where it all begins…with God. I will read His Word with the hope and expectation that it will help be get prepared for the good works He has prepared in advance for me to accomplish. As today is the beginning of a new routine and new rhythm, I need to lean on Him even more as I get back into the deep end. I am blessed to have the people on my team that I do and am praying that God will bless each of them in this new day and this new way. I am excited to see how God will use this time of change and transition to help me grow and develop. I am excited to see God’s plan in and through all of this transition. So as I get ready to turn to God’s Word and get ready to play, I thank God for this new day and for everything that will be in it! I give Him praise in advance of everything that is coming and will praise Him all the way through. I ask Him for wisdom and provision to be able to accomplish everything He is putting into motion and preparing in advance so that I can accomplish the good works He has for me to do in a way that will bring Him praise, honor, and glory. I ask Him to forgive me and help me to continue to forgive others who may need me to. I ask Him for wisdom and discernment to help me to not be tempted into doing something I shouldn’t. I ask all this in Jesus’s name so that in and through it all God will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory, for ever and ever, amen.

So today I take a step of faith, trusting in God and believing that He has a way that is higher and greater and better than anything I could have ever asked or imagined.

My Notes:

  • We need to have compassion for those around us in need!
  • We need to go beyond just an emotion or feeling and take it to the point of action!
  • We need to be willing to take the little we have and give it up to Jesus who can use it, who can multiply it for the glory of God the Father!
  • Even when we don’t think we have much to offer, when we give it up to God, He is able to take it, bless it, multiply it, and even have leftovers after meeting all the needs!
  • How big is your faith? How much will you trust God? Are you willing to give Him your all?
  • We need to look beyond the physical and realize that the things that will last are spiritual!
  • When we consider what will last through eternity, we need to focus on the people as well as faith, hope, and love!
  • People get to choose where they will spend eternity – with or apart from God.
  • Can you see? Are you willing to ask Jesus to help you see with vision and with clarity?
  • Would you be able to resist sharing what God has done in and through your life if it transformed you forever?
  • Do you realize who Jesus is? Are you going to tell others about it?
  • Jesus knew why He came to the earth in the form of a baby and grew up into a man. Jesus knew the pain and the suffering He would have to endure. Jesus knew that He would be giving up His life once for all so that everyone has the opportunity to be forgiven and reconciled to God!
  • Are you willing to deny yourself and pick up your cross daily?
  • Are you more interested in the wealth of this world than the salvation and eternity with God?
  • What if God wanted to use you to bless others?
  • What if God wanted to use you to prepare others for what is yet to come?
  • What if God wanted you to delegate to others?
  • What if God wanted you to ordain someone to do good works?
  • What if God wanted you to give over the lead to someone else?
  • Will you prepare a plan and provision to help them be successful?
  • Will you leave a legacy for them to be able build upon?
  • Will you leave them resources to help them accomplish the plans of God?
  • Let’s praise God!
  • Let’s testify to all God has done!
  • Let’s live out our lives seeking God’s face, God’s will, and God’s plan!
  • God is faithful! Take hold of His promises and pursue after Him every day of your life!
  • Seek wisdom so that you won’t be tricked or fooled by false teachers and prophets!
  • Turn your heart back to God!
  • Invite Jesus into your heart to fill that empty place for He is living water that when received won’t ever thirst again.
  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart, your mind, your soul, and your strength!
  • Let’s rejoice for this is the day that the Lord has made!

Wisdom required to navigate this situation!


What to do when people moderate their words because they don’t want you to use it against them? What to do when people trust you enough to share information? What to do when people are taking control of a new situation? What to do when they try to bring you along in the journey? What to do when it is causing the team to question? What to do when it is causing the team to feel bad? What to do when leaders are getting so stressed that they are being too aggressive? What to do when you don’t know what to do? Where to turn when you don’t know where to go? How to respond when you don’t know what to say?

Turn to God! Seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit! Be willing to not only talk but to listen! Don’t let your prayer time be like a phone call where you leave your order and then hangup! Why not let your prayer time be like a phone call where you talk and listen to what your friend has to say?

Turn to God’s Word for wisdom: Jeremiah 8:9, 2 Timothy 3:15, Proverbs 4:1, Proverbs 1:4, Psalm 19:7, Psalm 119:98, Deuteronomy 4:6

Don’t worry about it, instead seek God’s will first: Philippians 4:6-7, Matthew 6:33

Turn to God’s Word which is good for teaching us what is true and to realize what needs help or fixing in our lives, corrects us when we go wrong, and teaches us to do what is right! 2 Timothy 3:16

  • Let’s take hold of God’s Word and obey it!
  • Let’s take hold of the story of Jesus who overcame the grave after being the ultimate sacrifice to provide a way to forgiveness and eternal life with God!
  • Let’s allow our light shine! Let’s take it out so that other may see it and glorify our Father in Heaven!
  • Let’s allow Jesus purify our hearts and minds so that our words, our thoughts, and our actions will bring God praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’s name.
  • Let’s allow Jesus’s way to be the burden we share and pickup since the burden is light and the yoke is easy!
  • Let’s share knowledge and wisdom from God with all those God brings into our lives and along our paths
  • Let’s bring God our first fruits! Let’s bring God our best offerings! Let’s return to God what is His! Let’s be living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God!
  • Let’s help the least of these! Let’s help the orphans and widows!
  • Let’s consider how God would have us to do this
  • Let’s keep God’s commands as His treasured people
  • It’s not a matter of age, let’s just do what is right in the eyes of God!
  • Let’s turn to God’s Word in order to receive wisdom and direction
  • Let’s not grow weary of doing what is good!
  • Don’t abandon God – stay and return to Him!
  • Will you have an answer to God’s questions when you are called before Him?

Wisdom’s Call
