As today begins and the world is returning back to a post-holiday setup, I am so glad my girls got to come home and am sad that I ended up getting sick and didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked with them. The community that was taking place while they were home was awesome as the love and the people came together and got to reconnect and catch up. The community of encouraging and supported one another as some of their friends were challenged or struggling with how their situations were going but the love that started at home overflowed and poured into the lives of the community around them. Grabbing hold of, being filled with, and then overflowing into the lives of others is so important. So let’s get started with making loving God our first priority and loving our neighbors as ourselves next up so that in love we are able to pursue and accomplish God’s plans and purposes for our lives and the lives of our families and the lives of the community God has placed us in!
As I reflect on the readings from God’s Word to kick off the year from Job and consider where I am at, what I am going through, and how I am feeling, I lean in to learn from Job so that I can be encouraged, strengthened, and lean in harder on God! I know it is a process. I know that in the midst of the trials and troubles I should consider them pure joy, even when they don’t feel like fun and I don’t feel like I want them to last longer. So I lean in on and trust God rather than my own understanding, acknowledging Him so that He can show me the path to take. Just because it doesn’t make sense to me doesn’t mean I can’t lean in on and trust God because I know that He is above all things and that His plans are for good and not for evil, so I can trust Him in the midst of the trials, the troubles, and the storms of life! So I lean in and consider it pure joy the trials and troubles I am going through because I know that the testing of my faith through experience produces endurance leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace. And when I let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work in me, that I will become perfect and completely developed in my faith, lacking in nothing. Lean on God! Trust in God! Allow His Word to be a love letter to you! Even when things don’t make sense and you can’t understand them, turn to Him and allow Him to speak the truth, hope, and life into you so that you can overflow into the lives of the ones He has brought and put into your life!
So let’s turn and pray from God’s Word as we get started today:
So as today begins, let’s ask the Lord to reveal any barriers that may exist – real or imagined – that need to be torn down so that we can build stronger and closer relationships within the Church, the family of God. Let’s ask the Lord to put someone in our hearts who could use a little encouragement, prayer, or support from us. Let’s pray that the Life Groups, Bible Study Groups, Recovery Groups, and Solutions Groups at Eastridge Church become strong connecting points for spiritual growth and community.

- ‘Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms. Interlude ‘ Psalms 68:19
For 2023 I am returning to the pattern of reading through the Bible in a Year and as such will use it as my source for the upcoming year of BeTheDads.com devotionals.
Did you read something today that felt like a new revelation? Would you be willing to leave a comment or question? Are you walking your life with God? Have you made the decision to invite Jesus into your life so that you can have the divide covered? Have you invited Jesus to be Your Lord and Savior, paying the ultimate price to cover the original sin for we have all missed the mark, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and we all need Jesus, our Lord and Savior to help us be forgiven and reconciled back to God! Could today be your day? Let’s pray:
