THRIVE: Don’t give up! Finish Strong!

As we’ve passed the halfway point of the week, it’s time to press in and press on, not giving up so we can cross the finish line strong. Whether you consider Wednesday a hump you need to get over to head for the weekend or a launch pad to help you get there finishing strong, the reality is that it is behind us now. So now the decision is on how we will choose to continue this week.

What news did you get this week? What information did you hear about this week? What news are you focusing on this week? Is any of that going to change how you choose to live today? Is any of that tempting you to give up? Is any of that going to motivate you to press in and press on? Is any of that going to motivate you to get stronger and finish strong? Is any of that going to help you be ready for what’s next?

We all have been given free will. We all have the ability to choose. We all are at a point now where we get to choose how we will finish the week. We can’t control what happens to us but we can control how we will respond. So let’s respond with boldness! Let’s respond with courage! Let’s respond with joy! Let’s respond with hope! Let’s respond with faith! Let’s respond with excitement! (I’ve told people over the years how that butterfly feeling in your gut could be excitement or worry so train yourself to think excitement so it won’t paralyze you but will empower you and encourage you to keep going.) So we each get to choose for ourselves today. So let’s choose wisely! Let’s press on and not give up! Let’s finish strong!

Scripture for Today:

‘Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. ‘

James 5:16 (YouVersion Bible – Verse of the Day)

‘He decided how hard the winds should blow and how much rain should fall. ‘

Job 28:25 (Spirit 105.3 – Verse of the Day)

When I saw Job as today’s verse from Spirit 105.3 it made me reflect on how for so many years I dreaded reading that story as it usually meant that I was about to go through some tough times, and usually I would. I don’t dread reading Job anymore though, it took me till 2013 for me to grab hold of the reality that God’s plan is for good and not for evil, to give us hope and a future, no matter what we have to go through to get there. In 2013, the aha moment for me was Job 42:12 when I realized that God doubled Job’s blessings because Job trusted God even when He didn’t know what was going on. The fact that the reading of Job 42:12 happened to come on my last day at the first company I ever worked at and was about to start a new journey the following Monday, made me walk out of the book of Job and that day with the confidence that the second half would be twice as good as the first. Even if I had to face troubles in this world, I could still have joy and take heart through it all. Even if I had to face trials of many kinds, I could still have joy, pure joy in the circumstances knowing that the testing of your faith produces perseverance and that when perseverance finishes its work I will be mature and complete, not lacking anything!

Prayer Of Salvation
"Oh Father God, I believe with all of my heart that Jesus died on the cross for my sake and has risen from the dead. Lord, I receive Your Word and I repent of my sins. I renounce the past. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. I receive my forgiveness. I receive the new birth, cleansed and washed in the Word and in the precious blood of Jesus. Fill me with Your Spirit, in Jesus' name. Amen."

One response to “THRIVE: Don’t give up! Finish Strong!”

  1. […] We need to keep our eyes on Jesus or else we will get distracted by the winds and waves, storms and news. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus so that we can keep walking forward with Him rather than allowing the lies and tricks of the devil to trip us up or stop us. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus so that we know which path to take as we trust God rather than leaning on our own understanding. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus so that we don’t give up and can finish strong! […]
