Who would have to say it for you to believe it? What would it take for you to receive the gifts with unrestrained and uninhibited with gratitude and thankfulness?

If your parents told you something, would you believe it? If your grandparents told you something, would you believe it? If your teacher told you something, would you believe it? If your pastor told you something, would you believe it? If your politicians told you something, would you believe it? If your boss told you something, would you believe it? If your friends told you something, would you believe it? If your family told you something, would you believe it? Who would have to say it for you to believe it?

Which of them would you have to evaluate what they said first? Which of them would you have to analyze what they said first? Which of them would you have to question what they said first?

Which of them would you be able to take what they say at face value?

So it’s your birthday, it’s Christmas, it’s your graduation, it’s your wedding day, and you get gifts. Are you able to just receive them without restrain? Are you able to just receive them freely? Are you able to just receive them without needing to be egged on or prodded?

What would it take for you to receive them with a grateful heart? What would it take for you to receive them without restraint? What would it take for you to receive them with such joy and such excitement that you just tear into them in a way that others know how much it means to you that they would get you something?

What would it take for you to be able to reactive gifts in a way that shows how grateful and thankful you are?

The Faith of a Child

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew‬ ‭18:2-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

POINTS FROM THE DEVOTIONAL:
  • How do you view children?
  • What is your perspective on how they think, believe and react?
  • What is your perspective on their joy and bountiful energy?
  • Do you try to quench it or do you try to build it up?
  • Do you see it as incredible or annoying?
  • Do you see it as endearing?
  • We see that Jesus called the children to Himself.
  • We see that Jesus wants us to have the faith of a child.
  • We see that Jesus wants us to respond like a child to gifts when we receive gifts from God!
  • We aren’t to become immature, for we read in other places how we are called to be mature in the faith.
  • We are to become faith filled and be able to receive God’s gifts and God’s Word at face value.
  • We are to become faith filled and be able to receive God’s gifts and God’s Word with reckless abandon.
  • We are to become faith filled and be able to receive God’s gifts and God’s Word with unfettered gratefulness.
  • So let’s reach for the childlike faithJesus calls us to!
  • Let’s accept childlike faith as a valuable commodity in God’s kingdom.
  • Let’s keep it simple!
  • Let’s receive and accept God’s gifts at face value rather than questioning and doubting.
  • Let’s receive and accept God’s gifts at face value rather than coming up with excuses for not believing.

DISCUSSION TOPICS FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:
  • Describe childlike faith. Is it attractive to you? Why or why not?
    • Being able to accept what is being said at face value.
    • Being able to be excited and tear into something you receive from someone you love and loves you.
    • Being able to trust that what is being said it true.
    • Yes, because there is so much fakeness and falsehood taking place from place, people, and sources that are supposed to be truth tellers and truth seekers.
  • Take some time to ask God to give you that kind of faith in Him.

QUOTE(S) FROM TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL:

”God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves.”

— D. L. Moody

So, where are you at today? Are you ready to receive the gifts of God with the faith and expectations of a child Are you ready to receive the truth of God with the faith and excitement of a child? Are you ready to receive the forgiveness of God with the faith and excitement of a child? Are you ready to receive the adoption into God’s family with the faith and excitement of a child? Are you ready to receive the promises of God with the faith and excitement of a child? Are you ready to receive whatever God has for you today with the faith and excitement of a child?

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father
I come to you in prayer asking for the
forgiveness of my Sins. I confess with my
mouth and believe with my heart that
Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the
Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven.
and have Eternal Life in the Kingdom of
Heaven. Father, I believe that Jesus rose
from the dead and I ask you right now to
come in to my life and be my personal
Lord and Savior. I repent of my Sins and
will Worship you all the day's of my Life!
Because your word is truth, I confess with
my mouth that I am Born Again and
Cleansed by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus
Name, Amen
