Topic: Purity

As we begin our week of fasting and prayer, focus on asking God to purify us and cleanse us spiritually,
mentally and emotionally. On a personal level, we need the cleansing power of God’s holiness and His
Word to wash away all impurities in our lives. To reveal to us any attitudes, thoughts, habits or sins
that we have allowed to take up residence in our hearts and minds. As God reveals things to you, He is
bringing you to a place of humble confession and repentance, so that times of refreshing and renewal
may come. It is also important to intercede on behalf of the church and our nation – asking God that we
turn away from anything that is not pleasing to Him and not in accordance with His will and turn back
toward him to be “set apart” (holy) for His use.
“Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is
always before me.” – PSALM 51:2-3
“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that
contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” – 2 CORINTHIANS 7:1
“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts,
you double-minded.” – JAMES 4:8
“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living
God!” – HEBREWS 9:14
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.” – 1 JOHN 1:9
• Pray for the Lord to reveal areas in your life – thoughts, attitudes, actions – that you need to
confess and ask for His forgiveness and cleansing.
• Pray for our nation – that we would humbles ourselves, turn from our wicked ways,
seek God’s face and return to Him.
• Pray for our church to be set apart for God’s purposes – holy and humbly serving Him.

God is our refuge and strength! Hiding ourselves in Him brings supernatural covering and protection
from the enemy of our souls. We are not promised a trouble-free life. We are promised that no matter
what comes our way, God will keep us and protect us from the evil one. Put on the armor of God and take
your stand against the devil who would seek to harm you. Pray that God would cover your mind, heart
and soul. Pray that He would cover your family, our church, our Pastors and leaders.
“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.”

    “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
    I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” – PSALM 91:1-2
    “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.”
  • JOHN 17:15
    “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them
    safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.” – 1 JOHN 5:18
    •Put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
    •Pray for God to deliver you from anything that has snared you or distracted you from His
    purpose for your life.
    •Pray for God’s protection for your family, your church and your leaders.

The Bible talks about peace in the context of our relationship with God and our relationships with others.
In your relationship with God, it is important to have peace with God and to experience the peace of
God. Pray that God would reveal anything that has come between you and Him. Confess, repent and
receive His forgiveness for whatever He reveals. Thank Him for making it possible to live in peace with
Him through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus. Then, ask God to give you His supernatural peace to replace
any worries, anxieties or stress you may be experiencing. Finally, ask Him to show you how you can live
peaceably with others, as far as it depends on you. Listen to His voice for steps He wants you to take in
making peace with others.
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ.” – ROMANS 5:1
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” – ISAIAH 26:3
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” – ROMANS 12:18
• With thanksgiving, present your needs, concerns, burdens and worries to God and ask Him
to give you His peace.
•Pray for continued peace and unity in our church – that we would be united in purpose and heart.
•Pray for God to bring peace and healing to our nation.

Our God is a God of abundance, not scarcity! He generously provides us with everything we need. 2020
was a year of loss for a lot of people – loss of income, loss of health, even loss of loved ones – the list
could go on. However, whenever there is a season of pruning in our lives, God intends to bring a season
of greater fruitfulness. Ask God to give you the faith to believe for a year of fruitful abundance in every
dimension of your life. Pray that He gives insight into what your true needs are. Claim His promise to
supply all your needs in His way and in His time. Intercede on behalf of our church – that God would
abundantly provide all the needed resources for accomplishing the dreams He has for us.
“For it was I, the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I
will fill it with good things.” – PSALM 81:10
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

    “This is what the Lord says: ‘This dry valley will be filled with pools of water! You will see neither wind
    nor rain, says the Lord, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and
    your cattle and other animals. But this is only a simple thing for the Lord…’” – 2 KINGS 3:17-18
    “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
    •Ask God to provide for your needs and the needs of your family. Ask Him to show you where
    you need to trust Him in this area.
    •Pray for the abundant provision of resources for our church to do mighty things for God in 2021!
    • Intercede for those whom God lays on your heart that are in need. Pray that God would
    provide for their needs and bring an overflow of blessing.

As we end our week of prayer and fasting, it is even more evident that we need God’s power and strength
to overcome the challenges of life and to accomplish the mission He has called us to. So often we feel
weak and powerless. However, God has promised us that His power is made perfect in our weakness. Let
your mind and heart dream about the possibilities that lie ahead because of your Almighty God who gives
you strength. Whatever you feel is impossible, certainly is possible with God! Let your faith arise to believe
for greater things this year. Your faith is not in your ability or any spiritual formula. Your faith is in who God
is and what He has promised in His Word. Don’t let the chaos and hopelessness in the world around you
keep you from anchoring your faith and hope in what God can do!
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on
wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – ISAIAH 40:28-31
“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything
in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and
honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give
strength to all.” – 1 CHRONICLES 29:11-12
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” – PSALM 147:5
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I
will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for
Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am
weak, then I am strong.” – 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9-10
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is
at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and
ever! Amen.” – EPHESIANS 3:30-21
•Surrender areas of weakness in your life and ask God to show Himself powerful.
• What God-sized and God-honoring dreams has He placed in your heart? Pray in faith that He
brings those to pass and trust in Him to do the impossible
•Pray in faith for God to do miraculous things through our church this year. May He be glorified
and may His kingdom advance in amazing ways!
