In a situation where you need wisdom?

In a situation where you need wisdom?

Wisdom can be defined as the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. An alternative definition of wisdom is the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment.

We need to learn for our experiences and the experiences of others. But knowledge isn’t where it ends. We need to understand how that knowledge can help in the actions and decisions we make. Just because a situation looks similar it doesn’t mean that you should respond in the same way. How do you decide? How do you know what actions to take?

Some say the fear of the Lord is the start of wisdom. Not like scared of God but more wanting to live your live in a way that shows respect, awe, and submission to God. So wisdom will keep us from doing evil or being lured into doing evil or wickedness. We need to choose to live in a way that follows the rules and exemplifies Jesus to the world around us. We need to choose to live in a way that is morally right. There are absolutes and God’s Word helps us to hear and learn and understand it. It also helps ensure that we have soundness of mind. We don’t walk in a spirit of fear but rather of power, of love, and of sound mind.

Proverbs 9:10 tells us “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.”

What it means to live with the fear of the Lord is important to understand to be effective followers of Jesus. Wisdom doesn’t come from an unhealthy fear as God loves us and wants to have a personal and intimate relationship with us and so it is more an awe or respect for God that honors Him above all else as we can’t have such a relationship if we are afraid of Him. This opens us up to understanding what is right and wanting to live in accordance with His way. God loves us unconditionally when we come to Him and loves us too much to leave us that way. We can become everything He created us to be when we chose to live by this wisdom He puts into our lives. Do you believe that God’s way is the only way to live? Are you ready and willing to live out your life in accordance to His way showing hat you believe and understand God’s calling and purpose for your life? So let’s take hold of the reality that whatever God is telling or calling us to do is for our own good. If or when you are in a difficult situation and aren’t sure what to do, turn to God’s Word for wisdom, direction, and instruction and then do it out of obedience and reverence for Christ.

So if you need wisdom, turn to God and ask. He will give wisdom generously and without finding fault as we find in James 1:5.

August is in the rearview mirror
August is in the rearview mirror. What is before you? Do you know your roles and responsibilities? Are you working to find clarity of vision for the future, even if it is only today or this week or …? What have you learned that will be able to help you through it? Where will you turn for wisdom and direction to ensure you respond properly? Will you turn to God and His Word for direction and instruction and then choose to walk it out in obedience?

The 49 week challenge – Day 254

Want to join me in the challenge? Click Day 254 link to join me and sign up.

The 49 week challenge has 6 days in which to notice a promise to trust, a command to obey, a truth to embrace, a warning to heed, or an encouragement to rest in and 1 day to reflect on what you’re learning and to share it with others, to think back over the week’s readings, to see connections between the various passages of the week. Each day we have time to talk to God and contemplate what is being said through His Word, and even more so on the 7th day.

How interested are you in what will happen today? How interested are you in what will be required of you today? How interested are you in what decisions you will need to make today? How interested are you in hearing from God today? How interested are you in accomplishing what God is calling you to do today? What if it were life and death decision? What if it were everlasting life and everlasting death decision? What if the decision that you make today will determine how you will spend the rest of eternity? Would it make a difference?

If you are interested in getting together or sharing the information together, please let me know through the comment section below, through email, or even through text messages.

As day 254 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
