Unity and Maturity!

Unity and Maturity!

Do you realize that we are stronger when we are together? Did you happen to catch the Tough as Nails TV show with Phil who has lead the show Amazing Race? Did you happen to catch what Linda said about the finalists? As she lost out on the finale by seconds, her words of wisdom spoke volumes about platforms that people have and a message that needs to be shared with America. Myles’ message was one of maturity – to believe in yourself as he hasn’t believed in himself in a long time and as such people shouldn’t doubt themselves and what they are capable of. Danny’s message was that we should judge people by their appearance (never judge a book by its cover) and continued with the message to have the confidence to take on anything. Murph concluded with his message that we are never too old to serve others. It spoke of stronger together! It spoke of unity and how it is so important and crucial for us to focus on things that will unite us rather than divide us.

So we need to take hold of the reality that united we stand and divided we will fall. We need to make kindness the new normal. Have you happened to hear the song by Josh Wilson called Revolutionary? Maybe I need to pause and let us take a moment to listen to it here together before we move forward.

Ever heard the words of the Dalai Lama – “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”? Kindness shouldn’t be revolutionary but it is feeling like more and more these days people aren’t walking or talking or acting to unite and living towards the end goal of being mature and complete but instead are focusing on self. Do you realize that selfless doesn’t mean that you think less of yourself but rather that you think of yourself less?

There is a devil and his goal is to divide us! He is the chief liar! With those lies he wants to rob, kill, and destroy! With those lies he is trying to make us believe that by loving one another and living with one another in unity that we are missing out or losing out! With those lies he is trying to make us think it is an us vs them or that we need to make use lower in order for us to be lifted up. They are lies! The devil knows what his future is going to be. He knows what Jesus has done to defeat him through sacrifice and service to others. When the devil tries to lead you astray resist him, God’s armor is built for us to take on the enemy of our soul face on, not by running away but by resisting him. Similar to Benaiah who when faced with the roaring lion roared back and pressed forward instead of turning around, leaving his backside open to destruction and death. God’s Word tells us in 1 Peter 5 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” and continues with how we are to respond “Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” So let us choose to unite! Let’s choose to mature even in the midst of trials and troubles. Let’s resist the devil but turn to God for wisdom! Let’s take hold of the truths shared in James 1 where we read “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Yes in this world we will have troubles but Jesus tells us to take heart because He has overcome the world! We find ourselves anxious when we are trying to carry stuff that we should be and are supposed to cast upon God. We are supposed to just shift or toss our anxiety, we are to cast our anxiety upon the Lord! Pride comes before the fall! So we need to be humble in the way we live out our lives. Being a leader means we need to be humble and serve others! Being leaders who want to help and server and care for those you have been put in authority over! It is God who put you in that position and if you become prideful, it is also God who can remove you from it. Being young or under authority, we too need to be humble. We need to submit ourselves to the elders and those in authority over us. By being humble we avoid being opposed by God and finding favor in and through Him. We need to live in humility under the hand of God so that in due time He will lift us up. So now that we are choosing to live humbly, let’s cast all our anxieties, all our cares, all our worries upon God because He cares for us! God cares so much that he demonstrated His love by sending His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life!

So no matter where you are today, if the devil comes a roaring, remember Jesus has already won the victory and remind him of his destination in the fiery pit of hell. Don’t be prideful about it but resist him, standing firm in the faith. Don’t be prideful about it because you know you aren’t alone in your suffering but that there are many others around the world in the family of God who are going through suffering too. And by resisting and standing firm through the time of trials and troubles, we will be able to find eternal glory through Jesus as 1 Peter 5 says in conclusion: “10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.“.

So will you choose to live in kindness? Will you choose to make your platform one that creates unity? Will you mature in the ways of the Lord, receiving His Wisdom? Will you be salt and light to this world around you? Will you consider it pure joy while you resist the devil, case your anxieties and cares upon God, so that in the end you will be complete and lacking nothing as you spend eternity with God in heaven?

The choice is yours!

August is in the rearview mirror
August is in the rearview mirror now and we still have 4 months of 2020 ahead of us. If hindsight is to be 2020 then how will we choose to live out the days ahead of us with clarity of vision? Will it be in alignment to God’s Word and instruction? Will it be in alignment and accordance to the prompting of the Holy Spirit?

The 49 week challenge – Day 250

Want to join me in the challenge? Click Day 250 link to join me and sign up.

The 49 week challenge has 6 days in which to notice a promise to trust, a command to obey, a truth to embrace, a warning to heed, or an encouragement to rest in and 1 day to reflect on what you’re learning and to share it with others, to think back over the week’s readings, to see connections between the various passages of the week. Each day we have time to talk to God and contemplate what is being said through His Word, and even more so on the 7th day.

How interested are you in what will happen today? How interested are you in what will be required of you today? How interested are you in what decisions you will need to make today? How interested are you in hearing from God today? How interested are you in accomplishing what God is calling you to do today? What if it were life and death decision? What if it were everlasting life and everlasting death decision? What if the decision that you make today will determine how you will spend the rest of eternity? Would it make a difference?

If you are interested in getting together or sharing the information together, please let me know through the comment section below, through email, or even through text messages.

Today’s reading from
GOD’S WORD – THE BIBLE
comes to us from:

My Notes:

  • Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
  • Be completely humble and gentle.
  • Be patient, bearing with one another in love.
  • Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
  • Let’s be united as we see there being one body and one Spirit, we were called to one hope in one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all.
  • Let’s play our part
  • Let’s receive the gift God provided us and be equipped through the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teach for the good works of service God has for us to do.
  • Let’s receive it so that we may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
  • Let’s accept and receive and use it so that we won’t be tossed back and forth by the waves or blown here and there by every wind of teaching from the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming like infants.
  • Let’s speak the truth in love in order to grow and become the mature body of him who is the head, that is Christ Jesus!
  • Let’s build each other, one another up in love so that we can all accomplish our work that God has called us to accomplish.
  • Invite Jesus into your heart so that it can be softened to His instruction and direction and you can be transformed by the Spirit
  • Let’s get rid of the deceitful desires and bad attitudes of our minds and replace them with a good attitude and a righteous and holy heart.
  • Let’s put off falsehood and speak truthfully!
  • Let’s not sin when we become angry. Let’s look to reconcile before the sun goes down that would provide a foothold to the devil.
  • Do not steal!
  • Choose a way of living that will be useful with your hands so as to be able to not only make ends meet but also so that you can share with those in need.
  • As I continue reading, I found the following highlighted text:
    • ‘Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. ‘
      Ephesians 4:29-31
  • Let’s sing and praise God!
  • Let’s rejoice in the Lord who is our strength
  • Let’s pursue God with joy and humility
  • Don’t be robbed by pride
  • Don’t be deceived by the devil
  • God saves! God’s victory is guaranteed!
  • Will you wait upon the Lord and renew your strength?
  • Will you case your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you?
  • Will you choose to take hold of the promises of God?
  • Will you be God’s people and make Him be your God?
  • Will you choose to receive the inheritance of the Lord?
  • Love truth and peace!

As day 250 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
