All you need is love!

All you need is love!

Love? What is love? What does love have to do with it? How can love be the answer? Will you allow love to flow into you? Will you allow love to flow out of you? Will you allow love to fill you? Will you allow love to overflow from you?

Let’s reflect first on what love is:

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

— ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-8‬

Next let’s reflect on the law and how love is the answer:

“Love does no wrong to one’s neighbor [it never hurts anybody]. Therefore love meets all the requirements and is the fulfilling of the Law.”

‭‭— Romans‬ ‭13:10‬

Do you realize that your neighbor goes beyond the guy next door? Do you realize how that impacts the verse we just read? We see Jesus ask the question who is your neighbor and how it gets answered in the book of Luke with the story of the Good Samaritan.

“On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.””

Luke 10:25-37

So you see, love is the answer. Love meets the requirements of the law. And so we need to get a hold of this crazy little thing called love. God is love and there is not darkness in Him. We can replace the word Love on the definition with God or with Jesus but we probably aren’t there yet. So we need to receive Jesus into our hearts and allow Him to help clean up the mess and fill it up to overflowing with love. The as He continues to pour into our lives we will start to pour into the lives of the people God beings into our lives point them to the reason for the hope that is in us. Do you realize how important you are to God? He loves you so much that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever would believe on Him would not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus loves you so much that He was obedient to His call, to the point of dying on the cross o make a way for us to be saved.

So we have to start with loving God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. We then have to combine with that we need to love our neighbors as ourselves. We need to prioritize the needs of our neighbors as much as our own needs and desires. We need to make the effort to relate with others in order to be able to help and love them. There may be challenges because of race or politics or even with families because of the brokenness in this world, but we need to stand up and stand firm on God’s Word and love our neighbors. We need to be walking in a spirit of reconciliation. We need to be kind to one another whenever possible and then remember that it is always possible. Let’s love everyone with the love of Jesus overflowing from our hearts, so that from the overflow of our hearts what we speak will be the truth in love. Let’s lean into God so that we can share unconditional love, agape kind of love into the world around us. Let’s ask God for eyes to see the good in others around us in order to be able to encourage them.

I heard someone say the other day that they told someone that they have to love them even if they don’t like them. They went on to say if they can love them then they will pray for them and allow God to help them to love them.

August is in the rearview mirror
Hindsight is 2020 so they say. So what you learned from it? How is it impacting the way you live your today? Today is the present, a gift from God. Yesterday is gone! No guarantees about tomorrow. So will decide that today will be Happy Today?

The 49 week challenge – Day 247

Want to join me in the challenge? Click Day 247 link to join me and sign up.

The 49 week challenge has 6 days in which to notice a promise to trust, a command to obey, a truth to embrace, a warning to heed, or an encouragement to rest in and 1 day to reflect on what you’re learning and to share it with others, to think back over the week’s readings, to see connections between the various passages of the week. Each day we have time to talk to God and contemplate what is being said through His Word, and even more so on the 7th day.

How interested are you in what will happen today? How interested are you in what will be required of you today? How interested are you in what decisions you will need to make today? How interested are you in hearing from God today? How interested are you in accomplishing what God is calling you to do today? What if it were life and death decision? What if it were everlasting life and everlasting death decision? What if the decision that you make today will determine how you will spend the rest of eternity? Would it make a difference?

If you are interested in getting together or sharing the information together, please let me know through the comment section below, through email, or even through text messages.

Today’s reading from
GOD’S WORD – THE BIBLE
comes to us from:

My Notes:

  • In love God predestined us for adoption into His family
  • Through Jesus we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8that he lavished on us.
  • Jesus came to bring unity between heaven and earth.
  • When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
  • Give thanks for those God has brought into your life, remembering them in your prayers.
  • Ask for the Holy Spirit to live in you so that you may receive the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Jesus better.
  • Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for you and me.
  • Jesus is the name above all names.
  • Jesus humbled himself when He came to the earth and God the Father has elevated Him far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
  • Will you accept Jesus and receive the promises of God?
  • Will you trust God at His Word?
  • Will you believe what God tells you?
  • Will you test spirits that speak to ensure they are truth and from God?
  • Will you do it God’s way or will you be persuaded by the instruction and fear of man?
  • Would you want to receive the punishment meant for someone else because of your disobedience to God?
  • God has the power of to help or to overthrow. Will you do it his way in order to please God?
  • Don’t allow pride of victory to make you think it was of your own hands and then get tripped up for pride comes before the fall.
  • Let’s exalt God! Let’s worship Him!

As day 247 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision today and the blessing to get to live out the rest of the year in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
