Do you know where you are going?

Do you have a vision of the future? Do you have a mission for the present? Do you have lessons learned from the past?

As I write this I realize that we have hit the mid point of the year, the last day of the first half, the last day of the second quarter. As I thought about how thing are different I consider how much things are the same. When the words “half way there” come to mind, a song comes to mind and reminds me that we need to live each day “living on a prayer”.

Have you gone through a bunch of tests and trials and troubles through the first half of the year? Have you gone through a bunch of change? No matter if it was good or bad, remember you made it. No matter if it was challenging or not, you made it. No matter the struggles and the battles, you made it. So let’s learn from the first half and consider our vision for the second half. Consider the parts you can control because there will be a bunch of other things that will come up that you can’t. Consider what it is that you can do to make a difference. Are there any changes that you can make to help the second half be better than the first? Can you take a hold of the vision to motivate you forward? Can you take hold of the mission to get you through today? What will it take for you to have a better second half?

Ever consider the music of the past and how when you put it through the filter of God they have not only a different meaning but a more powerful one? God created music! What if the love you hear in songs was pointing you to God? Does it show you the difference between good songs and bad songs? Do you realize the need for God? Do you realize your need for God? Do you realize that with God all things are possible? Do you realize that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine? Will you take hold of God in the second half rather than trying to cling to material things? Will you take hold of God in the second half and look to see what He can do in and through your life for the glory of His kingdom? The decision is yours! If you haven’t started a relationship with Jesus, will you decide to take His hand to lead and guide you through the second half? The decision is yours!

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Look back at the pendulum of history and how people have turned to God and turned away from God and what has happened. Where are you at? Where are the people around you at? Where are the people in the news at?

Jesus is coming back. We may not know the day or the time, but we do know and so we need to be prepared. Don’t be like the ladies who didn’t bring enough oil for their lanterns and ended up missing out on when the bridegroom arrived. Don’t be the ones who thought they could wait till the very end and be left behind. Don’t be the ones who never make it in and have to spend the rest of eternity separated from God. Let’s be prepared! Let’s be salt and light in this world we live in, making the most of every day!

You realize where you have been right? Do you realize where you are going? Don’t go it alone! Will today be the day you decide? Choose today to receive Jesus and never be alone again!

With May in the rear view mirror, let’s reflect on what we have learned in the past 6 days as we meditate on God’s Word this 7th day. Do you have any highlights or insights from what we have read in the past 6 days? What connections have you made or can you make in relations to our readings from God’s Word? Have you made time to speak with God through your reading time? Have you made time to speak with God as a part of your daily schedule? Are you prioritizing God enough that He gets prime time with you? Have you missed the mark this week and need to turn back to God and confess it and ask Him for forgiveness? Have you taken time to thank and praise Him for the forgiveness that has already been paid for through the blood of Jesus? Have you taken time to thank Him for all the other blessings in your life? Have you taken time to thank Him for all the answered prayers? Do you have any worries? Are you taking hold of His promise not to worry but to give it up into His hands? Let’s ask God for wisdom and guidance for this day! Let’s put our trust in Him!

Today’s reading from God’s Word – the Bible comes to us from:

Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Psalms 90:1-2

Notes:

As day 182 of 2020 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision this early into 2020 and the blessing to get to live out the rest of 2020 in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
