What does this word mean to you? Do it mean a prayer before a meal? Does it mean the way someone moves? Does it mean a period of time? Does it mean how you should respond to others? Does it mean how God responds to you?

If we use Jesus as our example then we realize that just as God has given His grace to us we are to show and give grace to others. We are saved by grace, the free and unmerited favor of God, through faith in Jesus Christ! It is not by works or else we could try to boast and take credit for it ourselves. So when we consider that grace is free and grace is unmerited, the it speaks to how we aught to live and treat others. We shouldn’t allow bitterness or anger to rob us of living life with grace. We should be able to respond to the things that come our way with grace. Just like we have all missed the mark and sinned in this life and deserve the penalty for it but since Jesus paid the price for us God’s grace is given instead. So when others say or do things we need to filter it through grace and respond with grace in order that our responses will be glorifying and pleasing to God. It may not be easy but it is the right thing to do.

Let’s take a moment and meditate on this while we listen to a song before we jump into today’s reading and devotional.

With May in the rear view mirror, let’s reflect on what we have learned in the past 6 days as we meditate on God’s Word this 7th day. Do you have any highlights or insights from what we have read in the past 6 days? What connections have you made or can you make in relations to our readings from God’s Word? Have you made time to speak with God through your reading time? Have you made time to speak with God as a part of your daily schedule? Are you prioritizing God enough that He gets prime time with you? Have you missed the mark this week and need to turn back to God and confess it and ask Him for forgiveness? Have you taken time to thank and praise Him for the forgiveness that has already been paid for through the blood of Jesus? Have you taken time to thank Him for all the other blessings in your life? Have you taken time to thank Him for all the answered prayers? Do you have any worries? Are you taking hold of His promise not to worry but to give it up into His hands? Let’s ask God for wisdom and guidance for this day! Let’s put our trust in Him!

Today’s reading from God’s Word – the Bible comes to us from:

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

  • We need to be praying without ceasing, in constant communication with God.
  • We need to be praying for the people God has put in our lives
  • We need to be praying over our calling from God and for the calling of those people God has surrounded us with in this life that they too would find their calling from God and pursue it
  • We need to be praying that the Holy Spirit would transform us and help us to live out lives that are producing the fruits of the Spirit for the glory of God
  • We need to be praying that God’s work that He has started in us would be completed in and through us so that He will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory
  • We need to be praying that God will help us by faith to be able to complete the good works He has prepared in advance for us to accomplish
  • We need to be praying that God would help us to take every thought captive to obey Jesus
  • We need to be praying that our responses will not detract or derail the message of Christ but that it will bring God all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’s name.
  • We need to be living in and under the grace of God given to us through Jesus
  • We need to be sharing and demonstrating the grace of God in the way we live
  • We need to be giving grace to our spouses, our kids, our neighbors, those on the road with us, those we work with, those we work for, those who work for us, we need to take what is said and before responding put it through the filter of Jesus so that our responses won’t ruin our testimonies but instead will glorify God through the grace we have received through Jesus.

As day 175 of 2020 begins, I would hate to miss giving the opportunity to anyone who hasn’t received Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior an opportunity to make the decision this early into 2020 and the blessing to get to live out the rest of 2020 in that power and that truth and that hope.

If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, why not join me in this prayer?

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven. At this moment I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take you at your word. I thank you that I can face death now that you are my Savior. Thank you for the assurance that you will walk with me through the deep valley. Thank you for hearing this prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
