Do you realize that God is a merciful God? Do you realize because God is love that He is longsuffering? Do you realize that according to God being compassionate that He can blot out our transgressions? Because of God’s love, grace, and mercy, He sent Jesus so that our iniquities could be washed away and we could be cleansed from our sins. So today will you take your eyes of your sin and start putting God as your focus? Will you choose Jesus to be the center of your life? Not sure what to do? Why not turn back to God? Why not invite Jesus into your heart? Why not take your freewill and choose to receive the gift of God which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord? Allow the sacrifice of Jesus to be over you so that you can be washed whiter than snow by His blood! Invite Jesus into your heart that He may cleanse you from the inside out! Invite Jesus into your heart that it may become pure! Invite Jesus into your life so that your spirit will be renewed and become steadfast in the Lord! Receive Jesus into your heart and be transformed, be born again, become a new creation where the old is gone and the new has come, being steadfast in the Lord! Invite Jesus in or return to Jesus as your first love, that the joy of the Lord will be our strength, that the joy of our salvation will energize for each new moment of each new day! Let’s go beyond trying to pay our way to heaven and let’s turn our lives to God through Jesus who already paid the price so that we can live our lives as living sacrifices fully to God in a way that is out of love and obedience to His commands.
Help me Lord to take Your wisdom and Your teaching and pass it on! Help me Lord to share it with the world around me! Help me Lord to go beyond just knowing You but to making You known! Help me Lord to walk in Your love! Help me Lord to overflow with Your hope! Help me Lord to put my trust and share my trust in You to the world around me that they would see that it isn’t me but You living in and through me that makes all things possible! I believe in You Lord! I trust in You Lord! Help me Lord to glorify and exalt You today! Help my agenda be based on Your plans and purposes!
Today’s reading comes from Psalm 51 which says…
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
— from Psalm 51
Today’s devotional from The Global Impact Bible on the topic of Acts of Mercy is based on Miserere Mei Deus based on Psalm 51. It shares the story of Gregorio Allegri and composer of one of the versions of Miserere mei, Deus. We learn how it was a prayer of repentance from the Middle Ages and the Reformation. It was frequently said by or in the presence of people on their deathbeds. It has been put to music and when you look it up you can find it and watch it performed or listen to it online.
So where are you at today? Are you going to wait to the last moment? Are you going to risk waiting too long and missing out? Are you going to choose to receive Jesus today so that You can have a life to the full even before that last day? God’s plan and purpose is for you to have a life you can live and live to the full! So will you choose to make today the first day of the rest of your life? Will you choose to spend eternity with God rather than risk having to spend it apart from God?
I thank You for this new day and for everything that will be in it. I praise You Lord that You are the beginning and the end and that You have made a way when there didn’t seem to be a way. Help me today to live my life in a way that will glorify You! Help me today to live a life that will bring You praise! Help me today to live a life that will honor You! I lift up my wife and ask Lord that You will bless her and You as the ultimate physician will lead and guide the doctor and that we will get a good report for it is in You that I put all my hope and all my trust so that my life can overflow this hope into the lives of the people around me for the glory of Your kingdom. I give this all into Your hands so that You may receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
