Will you live out your life in and with love? Will you live out your life in and with joy? Will you live out your life in and with peace? Will you live out your life in and with forbearance? Will you live out your life in and with kindness? Will you live out your life in and with goodness? Will you live out your life in and with faithfulness? Will you live out your life in and with gentleness? Will you live out your life in and with self-control?
Or will you live out your life in a way that will get judged?
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and it is only by grace through faith in Jesus that we can be saved! But just because we have been saved doesn’t mean we can go along living out lives of sin but rather proof that we have Jesus is in us is how we live out our lives and by the fruit we produce. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Today’s reading from God’s Word – Psalm 58 speaks to injustice and wrong motives and so I call us to turn back to God and pursue His plans and purposes for our lives. I call us to invite Jesus into our lives and to help lead us, guide us, instruct us, correct us. I call us to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and walk in alignment and obedience to the still quiet voice as it directs our path.
‘ Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.” The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked. Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away! Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime, like the stillborn child who never sees the sun. Let them vanish like water that runs away; when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted. O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord ! so that it does not hear the voice of charmers or of the cunning enchanter. They have venom like the venom of a serpent, like the deaf adder that stops its ear, The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies. No, in your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on earth. Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods? Do you judge the children of man uprightly?’
–from Psalms 58:1-11
Our example of how this impacts the world today comes from the Indian Bible which was then used to help teach them to read since they didn’t have a written language he use the Roman alphabet to create one and was published by John Eliot in 1663 for the Algonquin indians in their native language. Psalms was used to help teach them to read.
I thank You Lord for this new day and for everything in it. I lift up this day to You knowing that You go before me and prepare the good works that You have for me to do. Grant me wisdom I pray for this day. Grant me visions and dreams that I can capture, write out, and articulate. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear so that You Lord will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
