Are you reaching out to those around you? Are you extending your hand to the people around you? Are you welcoming those around you? Are you embracing those around you? Are you loving the people around you? Are you being light to brighten things up for the people around you? Are you being salt in the world around you? What example are you setting to the people who are watching or seeing you?
Whether you know it or not, people are watching you! People at home (your family)! People at work! People on the streets! People are watching you to see who you are! Are your words aligning to your actions? What fruit are you bearing that others may see by observing you? Who are people learning you are when they watch and see the fruit you are producing?
There are people who are looking for mentors! There are people who looking for role models! There are people who are seeking good examples! Your children are watching you to see who you are and if it aligns to who you think you should be! Are you being good parents? Are you being a good sibling? Are you being good children? What are your actions saying about who you are? What example are you giving?
Are you sharing your learnings with others? Are you helping others to avoid the pitfalls of your life by sharing your experiences? Are you looking to others to give you wisdom and advice rather than having to walk thru, trip thru, tangled in, doing it all on your own? Do you have a mentor? Do you have a mentee? Why not learn from others? Why not train up the next generation in the way they should go so that they won’t have to deal with the pain and suffering you did?
How do you find someone? What type of an example do you look for them to be in order to know if they would be a good fit? How do you know their character?
Do you realize the impact of your example being set on influencing others?
Ever heard that you need to “walk the walk”? Ever heard that “talk is cheap”? Ever heard that “you need to practice what you preach”? Ever realize how much of communication is visual? Similarly, visual is the biggest part of why we need to be a good example in this world we live in! Ever watched people who don’t speak the same language try to connect? They tend to do a lot of pointing to try and get their point across through physical things. An example would be someone trying to ask for something. They try to start with words but one says “pomme” to which the other person says “what?” then they try to describe it with hand gestures and eventually they may be able to find the object or a picture of the object at which point the person may respond “oh, an apple”. Within a single language we can read a lot into what someone is saying through their body language (uncomfortable, shy, fear, etc.) and their tone (excited, sad, sarcasm, etc.). So we can tell a lot about others by their actions! So let’s share the Good News with the people around us and then lets live it out that others may see the good work and praise our Father in heaven!
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. –from Matthew 5:16
So are you setting a good example? Are you producing good fruit? Are your actions saying what you try to portray in words?
John Maxwell has been quoted saying “Eighty-nine per cent of what people learn comes through visual stimulation; ten per cent through audible stimulation and one per cent through other senses… What they hear they understand. What they see they believe!”
Are you trying to persuade through words? Are you trying to convince through words?
So whose example are you following? What example are you setting for those around you?
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. –from 1 Peter 2:21
So when people are watching you, what example are you setting?
