Challenges of life…

In this life we will have challenges. We can know this but are we preparing ourselves for them? Are we doing the right things so that we can be ready? Are we doing the right things so that we can survive them? Are we doing the right things so that we aren’t thrown off course because of them? Things as real as getting a good night sleep, eating healthy food, reading God’s Word, spending time in healthy conversations, setting healthy boundaries, and surrounding yourself with good people. Let’s put on the full armor of God as we start this day so we are prepared!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

–from Ephesians 6

So where are you at today? Get ready for what is yet to come! Guard your mind! Guard your heart! Don’t allow the devil to throw you off course! Let’s finish strong and complete the work that God has prepared in advance for us to do!

How to Cope with the Challenges of Life

Bible In One Year 2017: Day 187 of 365

Devotional, Psalms 81:1-7, Acts of the Apostles 25:1-22, 2 Kings 12, 2 Kings 13, 2 Kings 14:1-22

So let’s look forward! Today is the first day of the rest of your life! So what will you do about it? What learnings will you apply? What actions will you take in order to glorify God? Do let the lies and deception of the devil keep you from accomplishing the great plans He has for the rest of your life! Before responding with your human nature to the challenges of life, consider how Jesus would do it! God is love right, so make sure love is part of your response!

When you hear the word challenge, what thoughts come to mind?

dare · provocation · summons · problem · difficult task · test · trial · test · questioning · dispute · stand · opposition · confrontation · test · tax · strain · make demands on · stretch · stimulate · inspire · excite · question · disagree with · dispute · take issue with · protest against · call into question · object to

But we can take heart when we face troubles!

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

–from John 16:33

But we can consider pure joy when we face trials of many kinds!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

–from James 1:2-4

Don’t be tempted into believing that challenges are things keeping you from carrying out your mission! God has prepared in advance the good works He has for you, you just have to go and do them! Dealing with the challenge is part of the work too! Realize that everything you do is part of the ministry God has for you to do!

Let’s reflect on our challenges we face today against all that we find in today’s reading and take hold of God’s promises as we live out this day! Consider how great God’s love is and let’s pray for those who are being persecuted and killed because of their faith!

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that You will do in and through it. I praise You Lord for the incredible opportunity that You have put before me! I praise You Lord for the work You are about to do in and through me these coming days! Grant me wisdom this day I pray and help me with favor of the people I am going to meet with that You will be glorified I pray. I ask all this Lord in Jesus’ name so that in and through it all You will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
