Do you see the lights?

On a clear blue sky day…do you see the lights? On a cloudy grey day…do you see the lights? On a clear dark evening…do you see the lights? On a cloudy night…do you see the lights? In the midst of the storm…do you see the lights? At the top of the hill…do you see the lights? While at the bottom of the valley…do you see the lights? While on the journey…do you see the lights?

Are you shining? Are you shining light a city on a hill? Are you shining that others may see the light and praise our Father in heaven? Are you sharing hope and joy each day so that others may see the light no matter what they are going thru?

Do you see the darkness filling up this world? Do you feel the darkness trying to cover this world? Do you see how the world is trying to take way the light and replace it with darkness? How often do you ever see a good news report on the news?

There is a spiritual battle taking place for the souls of the people around us. There is a spiritual battle that requires our action or else they won’t know there is another option, that there is hope, that they have a choice! Will you let your light shine into this spiritually dark world? Will you take it out from under your better or under a basket that others may be able to see it?

14You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lampstand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

–from Matthew 5

Have I gone through dark times? Yes. Has the hope and the light of Jesus gone out during those times? No. Was I being obedient to the prompting of the Spirit during those dark times? Sometimes. When I started to be obedient did it help? Yes – the situation didn’t change but my heart, my perspective, and my responses did. The joy of the Lord became my strength! Forgiveness provided me the key to freedom! When it got dark and I was being obedient, God was there for me, I knew He was and I knew I had to press on! In this world, we will have troubles, but we can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world! When we take hold of Jesus in the dark times, we can grab hold of the truth that we can consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds because I know that the testing of my faith produces perseverance and when I let perseverance finish its work in me that it will complete me making me be mature, not lacking anything.

So let’s take hold of John 1:5 and let our lights shine because the Holy Spirit is in us!

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

–John 1:5

Ever seen what happens when the light is raised in a dark room? Even when the light is a small candle? When they were low it was a dark room, look how bright it gets when everyone lifts up their light and the impact on the world around them…

A little light in the midst of darkness can clear things up
