We were created by God for relationship with Him and with one another!
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” — from Genesis 3:8
“Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him.” –from Genesis 2:18
Marriage is part of God’s plan to battle the loneliness . Friendship in marriage as well as with is another crucial part of the solution. Jesus demonstrated this in relationships with men and women. He also showed how marriage isn’t the only solution to aloneness and in many cases friendships can be more important as they can be eternal. Ever heard what C.S. Lewis said about friendship.
“To the Ancients, Friendship seemed the happiest and most fully human of all loves; the crown of life and the school of virtue. The modern world, in comparison, ignores it.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
