How strong do you hold onto the truth?

Does it build your faith? Does it build your trust? Does it build your confidence? Does it give you peace? Does it give you hope?

What if you can’t see it all? Will you still hold onto the truth?

What if you don’t understand it all? Will you hold onto the truth?

Let’s take hold of some things God has said:

God’s plans for us: to give us a hope and a future

God’s in charge: God reigns forever, He rules the world in righteousness

God is sovereign: It’s under His control

God’s plan for Jesus: that we would turn back to God and be forgiven thru Jesus’ sacrifice so that nobody would perish but that everyone would come to salvation and spend eternity with God

The truth will set you free: let’s hold onto Jesus’ teaching and be His disciples

Don’t worry: Pray – walk with God, talk with God, build up your relationship with Him

Will you believe and trust Him in the good times? Will you believe and trust Him when things get tough? Jesus told us that in this world we will have troubles, but to take heart because He has overcome the world! Jesus told us that we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds because they build our faith, our perseverance, and our lives and that in the end will we be mature, complete, and lacking nothing!

So will you walk in peace? Will you trust God and His plan and purpose and be able to relax? Will you do your part by being a good steward of everything God has given you?  We each get to choose how we will live out our lives – so hold onto the truth, walk in the truth, and be a good and faithful servant to the Lord our God, in Jesus’ name I pray.

So let’s jump into today’s devotional from Day 14 – Bible In One Year 2017

Devotional, Psalm 9:7-12, Matthew 11:16-30, Genesis 29, Genesis 30

Today’s devotional breaks up this topic into three key points:

1. Confidently trust in the sovereign Lord

Psalm 9:7-12

2. Accept the invitation to walk with Jesus

Matthew 11:16-30

3. Watch God work his purposes out

Genesis 29, Genesis 30

So will you confidently trust in God? Will you hold onto His truth?

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

–from Hebrews 13

and we also see in today’s reading:

10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. –from Psalm 9

So what can we do? What are the things we can do no matter what is going on in the world around us? Praise God! Proclaim God! Pray to God!

Will you accept Jesus’ invitation? Will you ask Him into your heart? Will you allow your path to be directed by the Holy Spirit?

Although God is sovereign, we still have free will! So we both need to do our parts…

Jesus tells us He will do His part:

All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. –from Matthew 11:27

We have to do our part – we have to choose Jesus! We all are invited! He is knocking on the door to your heart, will you let Him in?

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

–from Matthew 11

So have you asked Jesus into your life? Have you invited Him in?

Will you watch God work in and thru your life? Will you glorify Him by the life you live? Will you be a living sacrifice testifying of His great love?

We aren’t perfect, yet God has chosen to work in and thru us to His glory! He has given us principles to live by and demonstrates their effect in the outcomes. He uses the analogy of growing – planting or sowing and harvesting or reaping! You plant good seed and get good fruit! You plant bad seed and you get bad fruit!
