2 days…

A viewing. A visit. A goodbye. A coming together. A remembering. An embracing. A celebration of life. That is what I know will be today and tomorrow. As we have a viewing today where people will come and the funeral tomorrow. So here to love and support my family. Here to be God’s arms extended at this time of loss and sorrow as my uncle passed.

After today I only have 2 more days in my reading plan and then what will be next? This coming week originally had plans for prayer and fasting but those plans changed to the point I won’t be able to be there and help lead and participate with our church family. I am with family and then with work before I get home. I may be able to squeeze in 1 day but that will be after my devotional readings are done and so I will need God to help me to pick what’s next. I will need God to help me be who He has created me to be. I will need God to provide me wisdom to know what to do. I will need God to provide me discernment on how to move forward. I will need God to help me be bold and courageous as I step forward today and each day. I will need God to help in being a good husband, a good father, a good son, a good brother, a good nephew, a good cousin, a good friend.

This is the day that the Lord has made, so I will rejoice and be glad in it!

The countdown continues…

Today’s reading comes from Nehemiah 1112, 1 John 3

So now is the time to settle things as we start out this year. Now is the time to resolve and reach agreement about the priorities and the plan for moving forward. Now is the time to adopt a more steady or secure style of life for the benefit of your family and friends. Now is the time to find peace and be a peace about the situation(s) you find yourself in. Now is the time to draw closer to God and live in relationship with Him! Now is the time to align with His plans, His purpose, and His will to be able to accomplish the great things (good works) He has for you and has prepared in advance for you to do!

Who are you? What is your position or place in the plan? How will that impact what you do and are to do? Where will that put you for this coming year? When will you grab hold and step into this? Why? Start with the why! So that you are clear on the reason for what you are doing and how you are doing it!

Relational…I am a husband. I am a father. I am a son. I am a brother.I am a nephew.  I am a cousin. I am a friend.

Positional…I am a director of product management. I am a director of a camp for foster teens. I am a deacon at my church. I am a producer, media person, camera person on the tech team at my church.

I am an ambassador of Christ! I walk sharing God’s love into the world around me. I walk being God’s light into this dark world! I walk as God’s hands and arms extended to the people in the world around me. I share my testimony of how God has and continues to work in and thru me that it may provide hope to others! I share the power of forgiveness!

So what should we dedicate our lives to this year? What should we commit to getting done? What should we devote our time and energy to? What should we stick to or remain steadfast in doing? What should we stand firm to? What should we stay faithful to? What will we go wholehearted and passionately towards?

So many questions and yet I know that keeping Jesus in the center will be the key to it all!

Today’s reading concludes with with 1 John 3…

1See how glorious a love the Father has given us, that we should be called God’s children—and so we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
2Loved ones, now we are God’s children; and it has not yet been revealed what we will be. But we do know that when it’s revealed, we shall be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
3Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
4Everyone practicing sin also practices lawlessness—indeed, sin is lawlessness.
5You know that Yeshua appeared in order to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who sins has seen Him or known Him.
7Children, let no one mislead you! The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Yeshua is righteous.
8The one who practices sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. Ben-Elohim appeared for this purpose—to destroy the works of the devil.
9No one born of God practices sin, because God’s seed remains in him. He cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Loving Children Emulate His Actions
10It is clear who are the children of God and who are the children of the devil by this—anyone who does not act righteously or love his brother is not of God.
11For this is the message you have heard from the beginning—we should love one another.
12Do not be like Cain, who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, while his brother’s were righteous.
13Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.
14We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death.
15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer—and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
16We have come to know love by this—Yeshua laid down His life for us, and we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
17But if someone has material possessions and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
18Children, let us not love with word or talk, but in deed and truth!
19By this we shall know that we are of the truth, and set our heart at rest before Him
20whenever our heart condemns us. For God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
21Loved ones, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
22and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
23Now this is His commandment—that we should believe in the name of His Son, Yeshua the Messiah, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
24The one who keeps His commandments abides in God, and God in him. We know that He abides in us by this—by the Spirit He has given us.
