3 days…

Plans changed. Schedule changed. Location changed. Direction changed. Situation changed. Purpose remains the same…to be Jesus’ hands and arms to a hurting world.

Flying all night.  New place to be. New plan for my week. Connections work out. Timing working out. And now I should be able to see and be with people God has planned for me.

Was going to be a week at home. Then was going to be 3 days at home and 2 away. Then it became the need to go international and support what God has called us to go and do.So I will be present to be God’s arms extended to my family during a time of loss.

As I write this some may think it is really early but others may not. God’s got a plan for this time and so I am preparing to do what He needs of me.

Only 3 more days of reading after today and then what? God’s plan is good! God can use what the devil planned for evil and turn it around and use it for good! God’s timing is perfect!

The countdown continues…

Today’s reading is: Nehemiah 910, and 1 John 2.

It’s a time of fasting! It’s a time of prayer! It’s a time to remember all that we have to be grateful for! It’s a time to testify and tell our story! It’s a time to share and care and prepare! It’s a time of humility before God so that He can use us right here, right now for His plans! Where were you at? Where did your life intersect with God? How did that change things? How did that change you? Will you tell the world your story? Will you speak of how you had a divine intersection with God and how it changed your life?

So let me share and feel free to share your story in the comments section below…

I remember growing up and my grandmother and parents taking me to church. I remember when I went away to university I felt God calling me to get confirmed, so when I came home for my work term, I went thru the process but before the ceremony I had to go back to school. I came home for Christmas and was blessed to go thru the process. (unfortunately thru all of that I missed the memo that it isn’t about routines and rituals, it is about a relationship with Jesus). I still wanted a connection and so when I got married we got married in the church. We still didn’t get the memo and used the excuse that we were too busy to go to church. Then God had a plan. It was time for a change in my career and so I gave the decision up to my parents and my in-laws saying I have 2 options (to leave the company I was working at or to leave the country) and both said I would be crazy to leave the company and the process began to find a new job in a new country. Without me even realizing it, I was following one of the 10 commandments that happens to come with a promise.

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”.

So I went out for interviews (3 of them) and while in one building (which happened to have the reverse architecture to the building I was used to) I took a left instead of a right or a right instead of a left and ran into a guy I knew from before. He asked what I was doing in town and I told him I was interviewing. He said I should go talk to his boss as they were hiring too. They arranged for me to come back the following week to interview with their team. By that time I had 2 offers from the first trip and left knowing I would have a 3rd offer and potentially a 4th. (I chose the 3 job and am so glad that I did since I still have a relationship with him even though I am now at another company working with him) So my wife and I went out to go house hunting…now this is where God directed our steps as we had planned to move to one area but the “randomly” assigned real estate agent that the company had assigned me wanted to show us another area which we ended up moving to instead. It happened to be near a church we drove by day after day and then when Christmas came we got an invite in the mail to come celebrate Christmas with them and we did and haven’t stopped. In the first month, I was saved (received Jesus as my Lord and Savior and started the relationship), I was baptized in water, I was baptized in the Spirit during a spiritual emphasis week, and that was just the beginning, God put a jet pack on and took my wife and I and our daughter at the time and now our 3 kids places we would never have realized would be possible. Now we are busier than we had been before we moved to the new country but we are so busy that we couldn’t miss church. It’s a place we want and need to go rather than a place we used to be too busy to go.

This blog has many other stories about what’s happened, but wanted to go with how Nehemiah 9 was telling the story of the Jews and share part of my story. There are highs and there are lows, but God never changes! God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow! God is love! God is light and there is no darkness in Him! Put your trust in Him! Ask Jesus into your heart and start the relationship that fills that void you are feeling! Ask Jesus into your heart and walk out the rest of your life knowing you will never be alone again and that He will never leave you nor abandon you! Ask Jesus into your heart and find peace in the midst of chaos, find hope in all circumstances, find that the joy of the Lord is your strength and how it goes beyond the circumstances! God is good! Possess the land God has for you! Capture the purpose He has for your life! Be His hands and arms extended to the world around you!

Why not renew your relationship with Him today — the 7th day of the new year? Now if you are reading this on another day don’t allow that to limit you! let today be your day! And maybe you have never had one like I used to — why not get it kicked started today? Invite Jesus into your heart! He won’t force Himself on you! He won’t force you to let Him in! He is knocking on the door of your heart and hoping you will open the door and let Him in! Is today your day? Will you allow Him in? Will you ask Him to help clean your life up? Will you ask Him to help you keep it that way? Will you ask Him for wisdom to help make the future be different? to be better? to glorify Him?

Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice once and for all so that we can be reconciled back to God! He never has to go to the cross again! He has paid the price once for all! All we need to do is receive that gift! Call upon Jesus and be saved!

Acts tells us about the interaction with the jailer:

29The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

31They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.

–from Acts 16

Or in Romans

9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.11As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”e 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”f

–from Romans 10

So if not you, then who?

If not now, then when?

How will 2017 change you and the world around you?

Let’s close reading from 1 John to close today’s reading…

Yeshua Atoned for Our Sin

1My children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Intercessor with the Father—the righteous Messiah Yeshua.
2He is the atonement for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

Loving God Means Obedience

3Now we know that we have come to know Him by this—if we keep His commandments.
4The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this—
6whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked.
Haters Stumble in Darkness
7Loved ones, I am not writing a new commandment for you, but an old commandment—one you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word you have heard.
8Yet I am writing a new commandment for you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is fading and the true light is already shining.
9The one who says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness.
10The one who loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.
11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He doesn’t know where he is going, because the darkness has made his eyes blind.

Fellowship with God Conquers Evil

12I am writing to you, children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of His name.
13I am writing to you, fathers, because you have known the One who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.
14I have written to you, children, because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you have known the One who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

The Fleeting World Opposes Eternal God

15Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16For everything in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the boasting of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
17The world is passing away along with its desire, but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

Anointed People Cling to the Anointed One

18Children, it is the last hour. Just as you heard that the anti-messiah is coming, even now many anti-messiahs have come—by this we know that it is the last hour.
19They left us, but they didn’t really belong to us. If they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they left us so it became clear that none of them belongs to us.
20But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.
21I have not written you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
Father and Son Come as One
22Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Yeshua is the Messiah? This one is the anti-messiah—the one who denies the Father and the Son.
23No one who denies the Son has the Father; the one who acknowledges the Son also has the Father.

Live in the Anointed One

24As for you, let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will continue to live in the Son and in the Father.
25Now this is the promise that He Himself has promised us—eternal life.
26I have written you these things about those who are trying to mislead you.
27As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things—and it is true and not a lie—and just as it has taught you, abide in Him.
28And now, children, abide in Him, so that when He appears we will have confidence and not be ashamed in His presence at His coming.

Righteous Children Treasure His Purity

29If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who does what is right is born of Him.
–1 John 2
