Matthew 6

Do you have a private place? Do you have a quiet place? Do you have somewhere out of the limelight where you can be alone? Do you have a place where you can spend time with God by yourself? Do you have time set aside for you and God to have 1 on 1 time? Do you make such a place and such a time a priority in your day? Do you make each day a time to build up that relationship with god? Will today be the beginning of the journey? God knows what you need before you ask, so it’s not all about eloquent words or long drawn out speeches. Let’s just keep it simple and follow the pattern God has given us!

Today’s Reading: Matthew 6:9-13 (ESV)

9Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be  your name. 10Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us  this day our daily bread, 12and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And  lead us not into temptation, but  deliver us from  evil.

Take time out of the view of others, don’t allow it to be a show time before others. Don’t make it a public thing, although there will be time for public prayer over others. Store up your treasures in heaven. On earth moth and rust can destroy it and thieves can break in and steal it! Store it up in heaven where moth and rust cannot destroy and thieves cannot break in and steal! For where you put your treasures, that I where your heart will be too.

Be generous, but not brag about it! Don’t be making a public spectacle of yourself! Let it be something between you and God! Let Him celebrate you rather than getting all the hoorays here on earth! Be a servant leader! Be a humble servant!

Walk in a spirit of forgiveness! Don’t allow bitterness to build up and poison you! If you forgive others, God will forgive you! If you don’t forgive others, God won’t forgive you!
