Some hear it and believe it! Some see it and believe it! (seeing is believing they say) And yet others still do not believe!
What will it take you before you will believe?
To what stage does your life need to get? To what point does it have to reach? Is there anything that would get you to the point of believing?
Today’s reading shows how for some they will believe from hearing and go…
Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
43After spending two days there, Jesus left and went to Galilee. 44For he himself had said, “Prophets are not respected in their own country.” 45When he arrived in Galilee, the people there welcomed him, because they had gone to the Passover Festival in Jerusalem and had seen everything that he had done during the festival.
46Then Jesus went back to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. A government official was there whose son was sick in Capernaum. 47When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to go to Capernaum and heal his son, who was about to die. 48Jesus said to him, “None of you will ever believe unless you see miracles and wonders.”
49“Sir,” replied the official, “come with me before my child dies.”
50Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live!”
The man believed Jesus’ words and went. 51On his way home his servants met him with the news, “Your boy is going to live!”
52He asked them what time it was when his son got better, and they answered, “It was one o’clock yesterday afternoon when the fever left him.” 53Then the father remembered that it was at that very hour when Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” So he and all his family believed.
54This was the second miracle that Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.
–from John 4
Are you at a point where you believe, but you need help to fully believe? Turn to Jesus and ask for what you have need!
People have been seeking and not finding. People have been looking and not seeing. People have been listening and not hearing. But from long ago, God had a plan for salvation and He took it into His own hands to make it happen. So let’s draw near to Him and live in relationship with Jesus daily! Let’s allow God to work in and through us to make us more like Jesus from the inside out.
10It was concerning this salvation that the prophets made careful search and investigation, and they prophesied about this gift which God would give you. 11They tried to find out when the time would be and how it would come. This was the time to which Christ’s Spirit in them was pointing, in predicting the sufferings that Christ would have to endure and the glory that would follow. 12God revealed to these prophets that their work was not for their own benefit, but for yours, as they spoke about those things which you have now heard from the messengers who announced the Good News by the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These are things which even the angels would like to understand.
A Call to Holy Living
13So then, have your minds ready for action. Keep alert and set your hope completely on the blessing which will be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14Be obedient to God, and do not allow your lives to be shaped by those desires you had when you were still ignorant. 15Instead, be holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy. 16The scripture says, “Be holy because I am holy.”
–from 1 Peter 1
When we receive Jesus we are new. We are able to grab a hold of the promises. Let’s remember that and live up to His calling on our lives. Let’s be who He created us to be! Let’s live, set apart, and able to be and do what He desires in and through and from us. Let’s not live like we don’t know, but rather let’s seek wisdom for we know He will provide it generously and without finding fault.
What a Wise Person Does
1Invest your money in foreign trade, and one of these days you will make a profit. 2Put your investments in several places—many places even—because you never know what kind of bad luck you are going to have in this world. 3No matter which direction a tree falls, it will lie where it fell. When the clouds are full, it rains. 4If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never plant anything and never harvest anything. 5God made everything, and you can no more understand what he does than you understand how new life begins in the womb of a pregnant woman. 6Do your planting in the morning and in the evening, too. You never know whether it will all grow well or whether one planting will do better than the other. 7It is good to be able to enjoy the pleasant light of day. 8Be grateful for every year you live. No matter how long you live, remember that you will be dead much longer. There is nothing at all to look forward to.
Advice to Young People
9Young people, enjoy your youth. Be happy while you are still young. Do what you want to do, and follow your heart’s desire. But remember that God is going to judge you for whatever you do. 10Don’t let anything worry you or cause you pain. You aren’t going to be young very long.
