Ever been mocked? Ever been bullied?

It’s no fun to be made fun of. It’s no fun to be teased. It’s no fun to get pushed around. It’s no fun to get hit or punched.

We need to be praying for these people because they are in need themselves. We need to pray for wisdom in each situation so that we know what to do and what to say. When we have God on our side who can be against us! We know that in this world we will face trials, troubles, and challenges! We also know that we can take heart because Jesus has already conquered and came out victorious against it all! We are also told in God’s Word that we are to consider it pure joy when we face trials of any kind as they help us to be perfect and lacking nothing.

Today’s reading we see how Jesus was mocked and bullied, let’s take a look…

Jesus Is Mocked and Beaten

(Matthew 26.67, 68; Mark 14.65)
63The men who were guarding Jesus made fun of him and beat him. 64They blindfolded him and asked him, “Who hit you? Guess!” 65And they said many other insulting things to him.

Jesus before the Council

(Matthew 26.59-66; Mark 14.55-64; John 18.19-24)
66When day came, the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law met together, and Jesus was brought before the Council. 67“Tell us,” they said, “are you the Messiah?” He answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me; 68and if I ask you a question, you will not answer. 69But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right side of Almighty God.” 70They all said, “Are you, then, the Son of God?” He answered them, “You say that I am.” 71And they said, “We don’t need any witnesses! We ourselves have heard what he said!” –from Luke 22

I remember when I was young and because I was tall I became the target of others. Being mocked. Being bullied. Being attacked. But God protected my heart! He kept me from becoming hard hearted! He kept me from becoming someone who lashes out! He kept me!

Not sure what to do? Turn to God! Not sure what to say? Ask God! Jesus made a way when there didn’t seem to be a way!

Jesus Our High Priest

1  The whole point of what we are saying is that we have such a High Priest, who sits at the right of the throne of the Divine Majesty in heaven. 2He serves as high priest in the Most Holy Place, that is, in the real tent which was put up by the Lord, not by human hands. 3Every high priest is appointed to present offerings and animal sacrifices to God, and so our High Priest must also have something to offer. 4If he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer the gifts required by the Jewish Law. 5 The work they do as priests is really only a copy and a shadow of what is in heaven. It is the same as it was with Moses. When he was about to build the Sacred Tent, God told him, “Be sure to make everything according to the pattern you were shown on the mountain.” 6But now, Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs, just as the covenant which he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things.

–from Hebrews 8

God provides the pattern! God provides the example! God knows what we are going through! God loves us right where we are at and too much to leave us there.

Where are you at today? Are you being mocked or bullied? Are you mocking others or bullying others? Turn to God and ask for help! He can give you the self confidence to become the man or woman of God He created you to be! God created us all on purpose for a purpose! You weren’t an accident and neither was I! We may have been surprises to our parent but it didn’t surprise God! He knows what He is doing! He can help us to get up and walk through it with Him! Let’s allow today to be a new day and a new start! This is the day that the Lord has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it!

God’s Word is full of wisdom! Today’s Word from Proverbs provides us with …

More Wise Sayings

23The wise have also said these things: It is wrong for judges to be prejudiced. 24If they pronounce a guilty person innocent, they will be cursed and hated by everyone. 25Judges who punish the guilty, however, will be prosperous and enjoy a good reputation. 26An honest answer is a sign of true friendship. 27Don’t build your house and establish a home until your fields are ready, and you are sure that you can earn a living. 28Don’t give evidence against others without good reason, or say misleading things about them. 29Don’t say, “I’ll do to them just what they did to me! I’ll get even with them!” 30I walked through the fields and vineyards of a lazy, stupid person. 31They were full of thorn bushes and overgrown with weeds. The stone wall around them had fallen down. 32I looked at this, thought about it, and learned a lesson from it: 33 Go ahead and take your nap; go ahead and sleep. Fold your hands and rest awhile, 34but while you are asleep, poverty will attack you like an armed robber.

–from Proverbs 24

We don’t know why people are acting the way they do. It might be they need our kindness to soften their hearts. We need to be honest with others and to speak it in love. Doing what they did to you won’t help, it will just escalate the problem. We don’t need to get even, for vengeance is the Lord’s! Let’s allow today to be the start of a new day and a new life where we put Jesus in the center and allow our lives to reveal Him to everyone we come into touch with!
