We are supposed to be prepared in and out of season! We are supposed to be prepared to give an answer! We are supposed to be prepared for every good work! We are supposed to prepare our hearts for God! We are supposed to be prepared to do what we have been called to do! We are supposed to be prepared for the battle that is coming our way! We are supposed to be prepared to present ourselves to God! Are you prepared to protect and guard what you have been given? We are supposed to be prepared to complete the good work that God prepared in advance for us to accomplish! Are you ready? Let’s get ready!
Do you realize how ready God is? Each day He goes before us, preparing in advance the good work He has for us to do.
Nothing surprises God! He is prepared!
Are you ready? Will you be ready? Are you going to start getting ready?
God’s Word to me speaks on the topic of being ready. His Word puts it this way:
35“Be ready for whatever comes, dressed for action and with your lamps lit, 36like servants who are waiting for their master to come back from a wedding feast. When he comes and knocks, they will open the door for him at once. 37How happy are those servants whose master finds them awake and ready when he returns! I tell you, he will take off his coat, have them sit down, and will wait on them. 38How happy they are if he finds them ready, even if he should come at midnight or even later! 39And you can be sure that if the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, he would not let the thief break into his house. 40And you, too, must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.” –from Luke 12
Jesus is coming back. We may not know the day, the hour, the minute, but He is coming back. If He comes back today, are you ready? Are you prepared for His return? What would you want to have ready in advance of His return?
Are you prepared to help others? Are you prepared to finish the Word God has prepared in advance for you to do? Have you prepared enough so that on that day you will hear “well done my good and faithful servant”? Are you living each day as though you are working for God rather than man? How does that change your preparation? How does that change your attitude? How does that change your effort? Do you realize all that God has given you to take care of? No matter how big or how small, it is given to you so that you are able to complete the good work God has prepared in advance for you to accomplish. To whom much is given, much is required! God’s Word continues with …
The Faithful or the Unfaithful Servant
41Peter said, “Lord, does this parable apply to us, or do you mean it for everyone?” 42The Lord answered, “Who, then, is the faithful and wise servant? He is the one that his master will put in charge, to run the household and give the other servants their share of the food at the proper time. 43How happy that servant is if his master finds him doing this when he comes home! 44Indeed, I tell you, the master will put that servant in charge of all his property. 45But if that servant says to himself that his master is taking a long time to come back and if he begins to beat the other servants, both the men and the women, and eats and drinks and gets drunk, 46then the master will come back one day when the servant does not expect him and at a time he does not know. The master will cut him in pieces and make him share the fate of the disobedient. 47“The servant who knows what his master wants him to do, but does not get himself ready and do it, will be punished with a heavy whipping. 48But the servant who does not know what his master wants, and yet does something for which he deserves a whipping, will be punished with a light whipping. Much is required from the person to whom much is given; much more is required from the person to whom much more is given. –from Luke 12
So this is the day that the Lord has made, let’s rejoice and be glad in it! Let’s be prepared to complete the good work He has prepared in advance for us to do! Will you take what you have been given and multiply it? Will you take what you have been given and bury it? Will you take what you have been given and share? Will you be a good steward of every good and perfect gift that God has given you? Let’s not be lazy, but let’s be energized to glorify God in all that we do! Help the light of the Lord shine wherever you are! Let the joy of the Lord be your strength! How can you make a difference in someone’s life today?
The Obligation to Work
6Our friends, we command you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to keep away from all believers who are living a lazy life and who do not follow the instructions that we gave them. 7You yourselves know very well that you should do just what we did. We were not lazy when we were with you. 8We did not accept anyone’s support without paying for it. Instead, we worked and toiled; we kept working day and night so as not to be an expense to any of you. 9We did this, not because we do not have the right to demand our support; we did it to be an example for you to follow. 10While we were with you, we used to tell you, “Whoever refuses to work is not allowed to eat.” 11We say this because we hear that there are some people among you who live lazy lives and who do nothing except meddle in other people’s business. 12In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we command these people and warn them to lead orderly lives and work to earn their own living. 13But you, friends, must not become tired of doing good. 14It may be that some there will not obey the message we send you in this letter. If so, take note of them and have nothing to do with them, so that they will be ashamed. 15But do not treat them as enemies; instead, warn them as believers.
–from 2 Thessalonians 3
Don’t grow weary in doing good work! Don’t grow tired in doing good work! Don’t stop doing what is good, what is right, and what is beneficial to God! Love everyone! Be ready! Be prepared to speak life into everyone you encounter!
Let’s let everything we do, all of our lives be a praise to God!
1Praise the Lord! Sing a new song to the Lord; praise him in the assembly of his faithful people! 2Be glad, Israel, because of your Creator; rejoice, people of Zion, because of your king! 3Praise his name with dancing; play drums and harps in praise of him. 4The Lord takes pleasure in his people; he honors the humble with victory. 5Let God’s people rejoice in their triumph and sing joyfully all night long. 6Let them shout aloud as they praise God, with their sharp swords in their hands 7to defeat the nations and to punish the peoples; 8to bind their kings in chains, their leaders in chains of iron; 9to punish the nations as God has commanded. This is the victory of God’s people. Praise the Lord! — from Psalm 149
