Are you prepared to withstand the temptations coming your way at your weakest point?

Are you a target for the devil? Do he have you on his hit list? Is he tracking you to see when you are at your weakest so that he can try to tempt you and trip you up? Have you been preparing to be able to withstand the lies and deception? Are you preparing to make sure he doesn’t trip you up? He is pretty smart and will even try to use the Word of God in ways that could confuse and deceive people. Be prepared! Study God’s Word! As for the Holy Spirit to lead you and guide you, comfort you and strengthen you with wisdom.

We see in today’s reading just such an occasion for the devil to pounce and try to tempt someone off course…As Jesus fasted for 40 days, the devil was looking for opportunities to tempt Him…

1Jesus returned from the Jordan full of the Holy Spirit and was led by the Spirit into the desert, 2where he was tempted by the Devil for forty days. In all that time he ate nothing, so that he was hungry when it was over. 3The Devil said to him, “If you are God’s Son, order this stone to turn into bread.” 4But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Human beings cannot live on bread alone.’” 5Then the Devil took him up and showed him in a second all the kingdoms of the world. 6“I will give you all this power and all this wealth,” the Devil told him. “It has all been handed over to me, and I can give it to anyone I choose. 7All this will be yours, then, if you worship me.” 8Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!’” 9Then the Devil took him to Jerusalem and set him on the highest point of the Temple, and said to him, “If you are God’s Son, throw yourself down from here. 10For the scripture says, ‘God will order his angels to take good care of you.’ 11It also says, ‘They will hold you up with their hands so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones.’” 12But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13When the Devil finished tempting Jesus in every way, he left him for a while. –Luke 4:1-13

He tried to tempt Jesus to use His power to turn a rock into bread and feed His belly, however, Jesus saw past that when He spoke back “Human beings cannot live on bread alone!” The devil then tried to tempt Jesus by offering power and wealth to which Jesus responded “Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!” And in the final attempt during the 40 days, the devil tried to tempt Jesus into showing that God would save Him by sending angels to keep him from getting hurt, but again Jesus responds victoriously and this time He said: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”

The devil has been watching you and is looking for your weakest points to try and tempt you from your walk. More so when he sees you trying to do great things for the kingdom of God! So be prepared! Understand your weaknesses so that you can guard against the attacks of the devil. Look to God for wisdom and allow the Holy Spirit to give you strength in your weakness so that in all that you do and all that you say God will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name!

Are you married? Guard your marriage! Do you have kids? Guard your kids! Guard your mind! Guard your heart! Are you a member of a church? Guard the unity of your church! The devil is going to look for the weakest link and go there! It’s important to walk in alignment with God’s plans and purpose so that you stay under the cover of the blood of Jesus that will protect and keep you from the fiery darts of hell.

Today’s reading continues on the theme of alignment as it goes into the relationship of marriage. It talks to the importance of it being a 100%/100% relationship. Let’s take a look at what it says…

22Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church; and Christ is himself the Savior of the church, his body. 24And so wives must submit themselves completely to their husbands just as the church submits itself to Christ.
25Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. 26He did this to dedicate the church to God by his word, after making it clean by washing it in water, 27in order to present the church to himself in all its beauty—pure and faultless, without spot or wrinkle or any other imperfection. 28Men ought to love their wives just as they love their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself. ( 29None of us ever hate our own bodies. Instead, we feed them, and take care of them, just as Christ does the church; 30for we are members of his body.) 31As the scripture says, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one.” 32There is a deep secret truth revealed in this scripture, which I understand as applying to Christ and the church. 33But it also applies to you: every husband must love his wife as himself, and every wife must respect her husband. —Ephesians 5:22-33

There is a calling on the husband and the wife. Husbands are to love as Jesus loved the church! He gave His life on the cross! He wanted the church to be washed from the sins of the world through the blood He shed. And as the husbands we need to give our all for our wives! We are to love our wives! We are to take care of our wives! It’s our responsibility to sacrifice ourselves for the one we love! Let’s live in alignment to God’s calling at the top so that the covering of God will guide and protect our entire family.

Dangers of being outside of the cover

Safe when under the blood of Jesus working in alignment according to His purpose!

Are you out of alignment and need help to get back into alignment? Are you trapped and need a savior? Do you need to be delivered or freed from the traps and the temptation of the devil?

81I am worn out, Lord, waiting for you to save me; I place my trust in your word.
82My eyes are tired from watching for what you promised, while I ask, “When will you help me?”
83I am as useless as a discarded wineskin; yet I have not forgotten your commands.
84How much longer must I wait? When will you punish those who persecute me?
85The proud, who do not obey your law, have dug pits to trap me.
86Your commandments are all trustworthy; people persecute me with lies—help me!
87They have almost succeeded in killing me, but I have not neglected your commands.
88Because of your constant love be good to me, so that I may obey your laws.

–Psalm 119:81-88

Put your trust in God’s Word for He is trustworthy!

Never give up! Even when the cards look stacked against you! Persevere! Press on! Believe! And allow miracles to happen! God’s love is constant and He hasn’t given up on you, so don’t give up on yourself! Finish strong!

The devil has been trying to tempt and get God’s plans out of line since the beginning of time. Don’t lose hope because God has His own plan which is why He sent Jesus to make a way when there didn’t seem to be a way! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life for us all to make it into heaven! So let’s grab a hold of Him today, ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and strength, and courage to complete the work God has for us to do today! Sot hat in and through it all He will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name! Amen!
