It may feel like you lost yesterday or that they tried to dash your hope, but don’t give up! God knows what you are going through and will meet you right where you are at. Focus on Him rather than the obstacle.
On the way they said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” (It was a very large stone.) Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back.
God goes before you to prepare in advance the good work that He has planned for you to do. Yesterday you may have felt that you lost everything or that it was the end of your world, however, don’t fear, trust in God! One thing that always makes me laugh is when an angel shows up in the Bible. They always try to calm or remove the fear right before the people scream.
So they entered the tomb, where they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe—and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is not here—he has been raised! Look, here is the place where he was placed.
We’ve been given the ultimate instruction manual direct from God in the Bible. Even before then, when Jesus was with the disciples, He let them know beforehand what would happen so that they could take hope and know what would happen. Now hearing and knowing are different, kind of like hearing and listening. They may have heard what He said, but until the right trigger they probably didn’t realize what He meant since everyone was morning His death. But wait there is more…
Now go and give this message to his disciples, including Peter: ‘He is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him, just as he told you.’” So they went out and ran from the tomb, distressed and terrified. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.
Sometimes we need to hear something more than once before we grasp the full meaning. I know on weekends where I am serving at church, I feel it means God thinks it will take me 3 times to fully grasp the full meaning. We see that Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene which provides more encouragement and hope to the others.
After Jesus rose from death early on Sunday, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons. She went and told his companions. They were mourning and crying; and when they heard her say that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe her.
But what will it take for you to believe? Would messengers of good news do the trick? Would one person sharing their story do the trick? How about two?
Would a group of people sharing what happened do the trick? Would you need to see it with your own eyes because of a doubting spirit? Would just hearing about it through the Bible do the trick?
14Last of all, Jesus appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating. He scolded them, because they did not have faith and because they were too stubborn to believe those who had seen him alive. 15He said to them, “Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to all people. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. Believers will be given the power to perform miracles: they will drive out demons in my name; they will speak in strange tongues; if they pick up snakes or drink any poison, they will not be harmed; they will place their hands on sick people, and these will get well.”
Jesus Is Taken Up to Heaven
19 After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God. The disciples went and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and proved that their preaching was true by the miracles that were performed.
–from Mark 16
There is hope for tomorrow! There is hope for today! Let’s put our focus on God and His will and see how the day will turn out! His ways are better than our ways! His ways are greater than our ways!
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
So don’t lose hope! Don’t give up! Fear Not, Just Believe!
Don’t go it alone! Come together in order to support one another! God didn’t plan for us to live this life alone, but together! That is why we read in Galatians 6:
Bear One Another’s Burdens
1My friends, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right; but you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted, too. 2Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ. 3If you think you are something when you really are nothing, you are only deceiving yourself. 4You should each judge your own conduct. If it is good, then you can be proud of what you yourself have done, without having to compare it with what someone else has done. 5For each of you have to carry your own load. 6If you are being taught the Christian message, you should share all the good things you have with your teacher. 7Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant. 8If you plant in the field of your natural desires, from it you will gather the harvest of death; if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life. 9So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest. 10So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone, and especially to those who belong to our family in the faith.
So don’t give up! Do good! Sometimes the best thing to do when we are facing something hard is to reach out and help someone else! Press onward and upward! Let’s do good to everyone! Let’s live at peace with everyone within our abilities. Let’s live sincere lives! Some say to be authentic, but the real goal is to be sincere! They may seem similar but they are different! Some may even try to use them interchangeably… but:
So let’s be sincere in how we live! Let’s do good! Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion. Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times.
Let’s be the new creations that God has created or recreated us to be! Let’s live with Jesus shining through us!
Don’t give up! Celebrate the victories! Celebrate the hope that is within you!
A Prayer of Thanks for Victory
1Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good, and his love is eternal. 2Let the people of Israel say, “His love is eternal.” 3Let the priests of God say, “His love is eternal.” 4Let all who worship him say,“His love is eternal.” 5In my distress I called to the Lord; he answered me and set me free. 6The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid; what can anyone do to me? 7It is the Lord who helps me, and I will see my enemies defeated. 8It is better to trust in the Lord than to depend on people. 9It is better to trust in the Lord than to depend on human leaders. 10Many enemies were around me; but I destroyed them by the power of the Lord! 11They were around me on every side; but I destroyed them by the power of the Lord! 12They swarmed around me like bees, but they burned out as quickly as a brush fire; by the power of the Lord I destroyed them. 13I was fiercely attacked and was being defeated, but the Lord helped me. 14The Lord makes me powerful and strong; he has saved me. 15Listen to the glad shouts of victory in the tents of God’s people: “The Lord’s mighty power has done it! 16His power has brought us victory—his mighty power in battle!” 17I will not die; instead, I will live and proclaim what the Lord has done. 18He has punished me severely, but he has not let me die. 19Open to me the gates of the Temple; I will go in and give thanks to the Lord! 20This is the gate of the Lord; only the righteous can come in. 21I praise you, Lord, because you heard me, because you have given me victory. 22The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all. 23This was done by the Lord; what a wonderful sight it is! 24This is the day of the Lord’s victory; let us be happy, let us celebrate! 25Save us, Lord, save us! Give us success, O Lord!26May God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord! From the Temple of the Lord we bless you. 27The Lord is God; he has been good to us. With branches in your hands, start the festival and march around the altar. 28You are my God, and I give you thanks; I will proclaim your greatness. 29Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good, and his love is eternal.
