Make sure to be an open vessel that can be used by God! Make sure that you realize that every good and perfect gift comes from God! Make sure to remember everything is God’s! When we do, then we realize that it’s not ours and it was given to us for a reason, for a purpose, for His purposes and for His reasons. He will meet all our needs! Not wants, but needs! He knows what is best for us for His plans are for good! So if we keep ourselves open, God can work in and through us and we can be vessels for His blessings in our community and around the world!
Those who have much may not realize what they have to offer and depending on their source of hope may be more closed fisted than open handed. Depending on where their hope is they may not be easily open to be used in such incredible ways by God. They might be good people who do the right things…
‘Do not commit murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not accuse anyone falsely; do not cheat; respect your father and your mother.’ — from Mark 10:19
but they may not be ready to be fully used by God! It’s been said
It is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. — from Mark 10:25
but that isn’t the end of the story, but just the beginning…you know why? It may seem impossible to us, but …
“This is impossible for human beings but not for God; everything is possible for God.” — from Mark 10:27
Don’t lose hope and don’t give up! God has given each of us a reason and a purpose. For some it may just be planting the seed of hope into the lives of others. For some it may be watering the seed hope in their lives through encouragement and testimonies. God is the one who will make it grow, so even though it may seem impossible to us, nothing is impossible for God!
The challenge is, will we become servant leaders now or will we end up last in the end? Put another way that I ask my kids who wants to be first? Who wants to be last? They have learned I am wondering who wants to put others ahead of themselves. This experiment was based on Mark 10:31 where Jesus says:
But many who are now first will be last, and many who are now last will be first. — from Mark 10:31
So where are you at today? Are you living to be first? Are you living with a closed fist?
Are you living to be last? Being a servant leader? Are you living with an open hand allowing God to work in and through you, trusting His plans, His purpose, and His will for your live are for good?
God sent Jesus for a big purpose and it wasn’t to condemn the world!
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God’s only Son. — from John 3:16-18
So realize it’s not too late! The devil will try to rob, kill, and destroy you in order to keep you from the truth! God is waiting for you just like he was in the story of the lost son! It’s not too late to turn to God and allow Him into your life! Why not you? Why not now?
Today’s reading from 2 Corinthians 2 speaks to forgiveness…
5Now, if anyone has made somebody sad, he has not done it to me but to all of you—in part, at least. (I say this because I do not want to be too hard on him.) 6It is enough that this person has been punished in this way by most of you. 7Now, however, you should forgive him and encourage him, in order to keep him from becoming so sad as to give up completely. 8And so I beg you to let him know that you really do love him. 9I wrote you that letter because I wanted to find out how well you had stood the test and whether you are always ready to obey my instructions. 10When you forgive people for what they have done, I forgive them too. For when I forgive—if, indeed, I need to forgive anything—I do it in Christ’s presence because of you, 11in order to keep Satan from getting the upper hand over us; for we know what his plans are.
— from 2 Corinthians 2:5-11
So don’t give up! Hold onto the truth for the truth will set you free! Victory is through Jesus!
14But thanks be to God! For in union with Christ we are always led by God as prisoners in Christ’s victory procession. God uses us to make the knowledge about Christ spread everywhere like a sweet fragrance. 15For we are like a sweet-smelling incense offered by Christ to God, which spreads among those who are being saved and those who are being lost. 16For those who are being lost, it is a deadly stench that kills; but for those who are being saved, it is a fragrance that brings life. Who, then, is capable for such a task? 17We are not like so many others, who handle God’s message as if it were cheap merchandise; but because God has sent us, we speak with sincerity in his presence, as servants of Christ.
— from 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
Put your hope and your trust in God! Allow Him to guide you! Let Him be the reason for the hope that is within you. Don’t allow stuff or the love of stuff derail you and keep you from the one thing that will provide a joy unspeakable that won’t go away, a reason and a purpose for living! Today make a decision that will impact your life and the legacy after you.
Do you realize what you have? Do you know what you have to offer? Do you know where you got it?
