The enemy loves to use fear to try and rob us of our peace, our hope, and our joy. The devil loves to lie to us so that in and through it all it causes fear and confusion. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Have you stopped taking time and praying?
“Then it is there you must seek and find him.” – Spurgeon’s Morning Devotions (Day 19)
Have you turned your back on God and started walking down the wrong path?
“You will find Christ in no other way but by the giving up of the sin, and seeking by the Holy Spirit to mortify the member in which the lust doth dwell.” – Spurgeon’s Morning Devotions (Day 19)
“You must find Christ in the Scriptures. It is a true proverb, “Look for a thing where you dropped it, it is there.” So look for Christ where you lost him, for he has not gone away. But it is hard work to go back for Christ.”– Spurgeon’s Morning Devotions (Day 19)
Ever heard someone say to press on, move forward, don’t turn back? If it is God that you have lost or left behind, then going back is what you will need to do. It isn’t easy, but it is totally worth it. Today’s devotional from Spurgeon’s devotional speaks to us this way as he speaks of Bunyan:
“the pilgrim found the piece of the road back to the Arbour of Ease, where he lost his roll, the hardest he had ever travelled. Twenty miles onward is easier than to go one mile back for the lost evidence.” – Spurgeon’s Morning Devotions (Day 19)
He never leaves you nor abandon’s you. However, you can choose to walk away. If you decide to turn back and find Him, stick close and don’t let go. Don’t leave such a relationship behind. Don’t take something that was, is and will be so critical to your walk in this life and walk away. Keep your eyes on Him so that you won’t lose Him again. Don’t take Him for granted, but rather build your relationship with Him. Pray. Read your Bible. Walk with Him rather than away from Him. We read in God’s Word how without Christ we are like sheep without a shepherd which make us easy prey and apt to scatter. With Christ we will find salvation. God’s Word speaks of the importance of being connected to the vine, where Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. If we aren’t connected, then we aren’t getting what we need.
So seek Him with all of your heart, all of your strength, and all of your mind, for God’s Word promises that when we do, we will find Him.
13-14“When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.“Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.“I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”—God’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it. – Jeremiah 29:13-14
I thank You Lord for this new day and for everything that will be in it. I thank You Lord that You speak life and hope and truth into my life to deflect the lies and fiery arrows the devil tries to send my way. Forgive me Lord for having given him the time of day and grant me the wisdom, the courage, and the strength to rebuke his lies so that he will flee as Your Word promises. Lord, I look to You. I ask Lord that with every thought, word, and action that I take today, that You will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
