Are you one? Are you looking? Are you wanting to know or understand?

Are you someone who is seeking the truth? Are you someone who wants to know reality? Are you someone who is looking to see if there really is a God? Are you looking around at everything going on in this world and trying to understand why? Are you a seeker? Don’t give up. Don’t lose hope. Keep searching with all of your heart, with all of your strength, and with all of your mind, and you will find it.
1Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! 2God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.   Psalm 53:1-2
With all the mess and all the chaos that the devil causes through lies and fear, the only source of hope is God. He desires a relationship with us. He isn’t just wanting robots who do what He wants, but rather people who will love Him and seek Him with all that they are. It’s not about rituals but all about love. That is why the two great commandments are:
25One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” 26Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?” 27The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” ( Deut 6:5; Lev 19:18.) 28“Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!”  Luke 10:25-28

So let’s put first things first! Let’s not allow the urgent to take precedence over the urgent. Let’s not allow the petty situations take our focus off of God. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus so that the storms of life, the waves, the situations don’t create fear or cause us to stumble, fall, or sink. Let’s stick close to Jesus. Let’s stay in His presence rather than walking on our own wandering in the wilderness of life and being tormented and lied to by the devil.  Let’s follow the path that He is leading us down rather than getting to the fork in the road and going our own way rather than being obedient and pursuing His dreams and visions, His plans and purpose for our lives. His ways are better than our ways. His ways are higher than our ways. So don’t give up for He will go with You, He will never leave you nor abandon you, He goes before You to prepare in advance the good work He desires for you to do, He walks behind You to watch your back, and He walks beside you every step of the way.

In TGIF today, Os says:

Do we understand, really understand? That is the question God raises to each of us today. If we understand, then why do we spend day after day toiling and fretting over what doesn’t matter? Can we set proper boundaries in our lives that don’t allow our time with Him to be continually stolen away? It is a challenge in a world that screams “activity, activity!” — Seekers of God by Os Hillman

So will you make time for God? Will you schedule time so that you can build up that relationship? As God’s Word says:

And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.  Jeremiah 32:38-41

Today is the day to get things started. Let’s consider what is truly important. Let’s give our all to God. And let’s allow Him to speak to and through us.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and Your Word that speaks life and hope to me. Lord, help me today in everything I do to be focused on Your plan and purpose and not get distracted by the world, the petty things, the urgent but rather keep my eyes on the important. I pray patience and protection Lord for this day and that in and through it all You will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Do you really want to get it taken care of? Are you willing to take control out of your hands?

There are times in life when you are trying to get something done but there is a decision that is keeping progress from happening. There are times in life when there are negotiations taking place but there are obstacles that are keep you from coming to an agreement. How much do you really want to make the deal or get it done? Would you be willing to give up control and let God decide? Ever heard of casting lots?

How about just flipping a coin over it?

How about rolling a die?

How about some other option where neither of you actually have any real control over the outcome?

Will you put your trust in the decision on something outside of just the two of you trying to make the decision? It may sound crazy, but when you flip a coin over the matter it can quickly and easily be decided. Will you give up control? Will you consider what Proverbs says:

33We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.

Proverbs 16:33

Consider this solution and reflect on who is willing to participate. Are you both willing to trust God with the outcome? the decision? the answer?
If you can’t make the decision through discussion and prayer, would you consider casting lots? It is quick. It is easy. It removes the I got you to do it my way discussion since neither of you made the decision, you flipped a coin, you casted lots and let God pick for you.
So celebrate the decision. Praise God! Settle it!
Consider the testimony that will be created.

My Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for the incredible day I was able to have yesterday. Lord, grant me wisdom for any decisions that I need to make today and help me to make them in alignment with Your Word, Your Will, and Your plans. I lift up my family to You Lord and the girls playing today and ask Lord for Your help in encouraging them and protecting them from harm. Be glorified in the way they play. Help us Lord so that every thought, every word, and every action today Lord will glorify and honor You and in and through it all that You will receive the praise. I thank You and praise You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have you been broken?

Have you been taken from a place of comfort and safety and ended up in a place of pain and distress? Have you ended up in a place where you have lied to or reject? Have you ended up in a place where you have been mistreated or abused? Have you ended up in a place where you minimized or taken advantage of? Have you found yourself in a place where you didn’t understand how this could be possible? Have you been broken? Did you feel sad or distraught? Did you make it through? Are you trying to make it through? In and through this I have learned that unforgiveness isn’t an option. I learned the first time that forgiveness is the key to true freedom and then applied it the second time and realize the incredible power God provides us when we put all of our hope and trust in Him.

It is said that before great power and opportunity comes a test to see how much we can be trusted. It usually isn’t something that we can do on our own, but requires God’s intervention to get us to the point of turning to Him fully and trusting Him to help us out. We can refuse to get all the way there or we can allow God’s work in our lives to complete it’s work. It creates a delay from keeping us from achieving everything that God desires in and through our lives.

Don’t be deceived by the lies of the devil, rather turn to God for truth and walk with Him in faith. Don’t let the strongholds that are so common in the workplace get a hold of you. Don’t let your life be driven out of pride. Don’t let your life be driven out of greed. Don’t let your life be driven by money or the chase for material possessions. Remember that in our weakness, God’s strength is revealed. Remember that God will get you through the times of brokenness and just like our bones are stronger after they heal, we will also be stronger in our faith when we come through on the other side. Consider what the world says and thinks and compare it to the truth of what God says is real.

“Prepare it with oil on a griddle; bring it well-mixed and present the grain offering broken in pieces as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.” Leviticus 6:21

So let’s be an aroma that is pleasing to God! Let’s allow Him to break us, taking away the things that are keeping us from being everything that He desires for us to become. Let’s allow God’s work in us to be brought to completion so that this pleasing aroma to Him is seen and smelt in the places of the world that we have been called to. Let those around you notice the difference so that in and through it they may praise God who is working through you.

Have you been broken? Are you a pleasing aroma to God? What does your story look like? Consider Paul’s story. Consider Joseph’s story. If you read through my blog, you will get to hear some of my story too.

My Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for everything that will be in it. I thank You for the opportunity to get to meet with people in this office and to get to spend some quality time away with my daughter. Lord, bless our time together today and help me Lord to glorify You in everything I do. I pray Your protection over my family Lord, my daughter and her team, that there would be no injuries. Lead them with wisdom and allow them to produce good fruit for Your glory. As I look to begin this day Lord, may every thought, word, and action I take bring You praise, honor, and glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Benefits of talking to God throughout the day…

I have noticed that as I walk through each day that God is with me because as I talk to Him and share with Him my thoughts, my ideas, my feelings, my concerns, He will speak encouragement to me through the Holy Spirit through words that will come to mind, through songs on the radio, through the Bible verses that are a part of my day, …

Don’t worry what you are going to do, turn to God!

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

That’s right, He will teach us things. He will remind us of things that God has promised us through His Word. So we don’t need to walk in fear and doubt, but in courage and faith.

Sometimes the words are for encouragement because of the difficulties we are facing. Sometimes the words are for direction because we aren’t sure which way to go. Sometimes the words are for correction to help us get back on track with the right attitude.

A key ingredient to giving the Holy Spirit more to work with in bringing words to your memory is taking time to read God’s Word – The Bible (be it your reading, be it Bible studies, be it Sunday services, etc.) so that we have the words in our minds and He can pull them out for instant recall.

And there are great benefits of believing, trusting, and relying on God:

[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

So today take time to have the right focus and accomplish God’s plan and purpose in your life for this day.

My Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I praise You Lord for the incredible blessings and opportunities that You have and continue to bring into my life. Lord, as I look to You today and as this plan for work and play begins, as I ask Lord for Your hand of protection over my family, our friends, and everyone we will meet. Help us Lord to keep our eyes and our focus on You so that in and through it all You will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory. Grant me wisdom today and help me to bring to completion the work You have for me today and this week. Bless my family and friends Lord so that they will shout Your praises. Help us Lord to not think we are all that, but rather how blessed we are to be children of the most high God. And Lord may every thought, word, and action bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

How are you going to respond? What are you going to do? Who will you trust?

There are times when things happen and they don’t make sense. People do or say things that are wrong and hurtful. What if others start to believe it? It is an interesting predicament and who we trust manages how we will respond. I have experienced a couple of times when something has happened in my life and it ended up I responded in two different ways. The first time, I got bitter and angry and it started to eat away at me because of unforgiveness. The second time, I was going to repeat that and so I forgave them and tried to work through it with God’s help and wisdom which lead me through a process where I was released from needing to deal with it anymore as God opened a new door for me to exit through.

It takes too much energy to try and justify yourself. It takes too much energy if we don’t allow forgiveness to work and to look to God for help and direction. When I compare what I went through to what Jesus had to go through, it is so much smaller and His example is what works best because we put our trust in God who is the ultimate judge.

“When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.” 1 Peter 2:23

Rather than trying to battle on this plane for ourselves, let’s go vertical and align with what God has planned. Let’s resist the horizontal response or rebuttal and turn to God for wisdom and discernment so that we can walk vertically with God. It not only ensures you don’t get yourself into a downward spiral, but it also helps build your ability to give grace.

Don’t walk in fear of what they say or think. Don’t walk in fear of what others may say because of this. Look to God who uses all things for good. What the enemy of our soul wants to use to destroy us God will turn around and use for good.

So if you are facing this trial, turn to God and allow Him to walk you through it.

My Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will take place in it. I praise You Lord that You will not give me more than I can handle and that You always provide a way out. Lord, help me today to walk in alignment with your will and in your power trusting in You and having the courage to step up and step out as You lead me. May Your miraculous signs guide us all today so that in and through it all, You will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
