Let’s proactively stop the negative talk by cutting out the negative thoughts.

  • Watch your thoughts for they become words.
  • Watch your words for they become actions.
  • Watch your actions for they become habits.
  • Watch your habits for they become character.
  • Watch your character for it becomes your destiny.

I have also seen how people who are going down the wrong path can change things around by considering this in reverse:

  • If you are not happy with your destination, change your character.
  • If you are not happy with your character, change your habits.
  • If you are not happy with your habits, change your actions.
  • If you are not happy with your actions, change your decisions.
  • If you are not happy with your decisions, change your emotions.
  • If you are not happy with your emotions, change your thinking.
  • If you are not happy with your thinking, change your words.

So where can we make sure the right words and thoughts are in our mind? Spend time with God’s Word and meditate on what He says about you and His plan, consider the promises He has made around you. God’s thoughts are higher and our thoughts and His ways are better than our ways. So let’s try to align to them. What God says happensin the beginning…and ever since. Needing to hear how much God loves you or to put it another way how much you are loved? I found the Father’s Love Letter which takes God’s Word and gives it to us as a letter, take a read of it or listen to it or watch it as a video.

Now that we have filled our minds with the right words (which we need to do daily) let’s take those words for the words we speak come from the overflow of our hearts and with God’s Word in our hearts it should produce a great overflow. By being listener we are able to fill our minds with thoughts. If we take time to allow God’s Word to be spoken into our lives by spending time reading or listening to God’s Word daily, by going to a Bible believing and Bible preaching church, or by listening to Worship music while you drive, you are able get the right stuff in there.

How do you think you will start to feel with all of these thoughts in your mind? Positive, uplifting, encouraging, loving words spoken from the very heart of God… Proverbs tells us:

7For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost].

Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)

Emotions will come from your thoughts and words and emotions aren’t bad. How we respond to the emotions are where we can fall into the snare or trap of sin. Consider how you will respond, what decision you will make based on the truth rather than out of the emotions you are feeling. The devil is going to try and fill your mind and emotions with the lies that will get you to act out. Every decision we make has some emotion tied to it, but are they real truth or lies? The emotion and the decision are coming out of us. Ask God for wisdom and discernment to help us make the right choices. Let God’s love be what influences us.

We will be faced with many decisions we will need to make and from those decisions we will need to take actions. Sometimes the action may be to not do anything and other times it may mean we need to do something or give something or … Do the actions you are taking glorify God? Everything that we think, say, and do should be things that will glorify God. So consider this before you take action.

The more we take an action, the more a habit forms. Is it a good habit? Is it a habit that will keep you going down a good path of life? God’s grace is enough for us. God’s grace is undeserved and shouldn’t be thought of as acceptance. God’s plans and purpose for us so great that He loves us unconditionally right where we are at, but He loves us too much to leave us there. So don’t let the habits being formed be something that goes against the ways of God, but rather in alignment with God. In doing that way the character that is formed will be a good one. So following the process, let’s first get the words right and then get our thoughts right and from that get our emotions right which produces the right actions and then form the right habits so that we develop a right character so that we end up with the right destination or destiny.

Today’s Devotional: Think Right So You Can Speak Right

6And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the wheel of birth (the cycle of man’s nature), being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna).

James 3:6

Prayer Starter:

God, I want to speak positive, life-giving words. I invite You into my thought life and want to have a renewed mind, the mind of Christ, so I can please You with the words of my mouth.

Day 143 of 349

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that is within it. I praise You Lord for the truth and hope and love that You speak to me daily so that my mind is filled with positive thoughts. Help me today Lord in every situation to speak life, love, and hope through my faith in You to those around me. May this day be one that through my thoughts, my words, and my actions bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

We don’t need to walk in fear!

With great power comes great responsibility. We shouldn’t be walking around proud for pride comes before destruction. Humility is honorable to God and the humble will be lifted by the Lord. We are told in God’s Word that in this world we will face challenges, but to hold onto the truth and the hope that Jesus also faced these trials and has overcome the world. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior and we follow after Him, He also makes us a very powerful promise:

19Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

Luke 10:19

There is going to be many things that will come into our lives as the devil tries to get us off track. He will try to get us to respond out of fear rather than faith so that He is able to get a stronghold in our lives. God has a plan and He wants our responses to be different from those of the world because we can walk in the faith and trust He provides us to give us a testimony for the hope that is within us. Don’t get stressed out, but turn to God for wisdom and discernment about the decisions and plans you need to make. Don’t get stressed, but walk in the confidence and power that God has given you and promised you. The verse tells us that God has given us authority; do you know what that means? Let’s take a look at the definition from Merriam-Webster:

Definition of AUTHORITY

1 a (1): a citation (as from a book or file) used in defense or support (2): the source from which the citation is drawn

b (1): a conclusive statement or set of statements (as an official decision of a court) (2): a decision taken as a precedent (3): testimony

c: an individual cited or appealed to as an expert

2 a: power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior

b: freedom granted by one in authority : right

3 a: persons in command; specifically: government

b: a governmental agency or corporation to administer a revenue-producing public enterprise <the transit authority>

4 a: grounds, warrant <had excellent authority for believing the claim>

b: convincing force <lent authority to the performance>

Examples of AUTHORITY

  1. The boss is not popular but his authority is unquestioned.
  2. She has an air of authority.
  3. Her southern accent lent authority to her performance.
  4. We reported the incident to hospital authorities.
  5. Local authorities are investigating the accident.

So as you can see, Jesus has setup us up to be overcomers. We are to be more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us. God has prepared in advance every good work He has for us to do. He has equipped us with the full armor of God to not be held back by the world, but to be like Jesus who overcame the world and that is what He wants us to be able to do too.

It may not be easy, but we have Jesus’ assurance per Luke 10 that we have the power over the enemy and that no matter the trial or the challenge we have to walk through “Nothing will injure you”.

So let’s stand up today and receive this promise. Let’s stand up today and with humility and authority shine our light for Jesus to all those we will meet.

Today’s Devotional: Use Your Authority!

19Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

What type of a legacy are you wanting to leave? Is it temporal or eternal? Consider what type of an impact is being made and if after it is all said and done, will you be spending eternity in heaven with those you wanted to leave your legacy with?

treasures, heaven, salvation, life, victory

I saw this article about this man with terminal brain cancer; he was a teacher who was seeking out former students trying to ascertain whether or not he had made a difference in their lives as a teacher.

This seemed to be very important to this man, as if he felt this would be his legacy in some way. As I thought on his quest for his former students I couldn’t help but wonder, if his real quest should not have been to assure his salvation and a right relationship with God.

The thought comes to mind that speaks of our “good” deeds being burned up, only what’s done for Christ will last.  As this man’s illness draws him closer to his reunion with his creator I pray that he discovers his true legacy. His legacy of using his allotted time spent accomplishing the work of Christ.

Who are you trying to imitate?

We are all created to be unique, yet many people will try to make you be more like them. In the way we act, we should be more like Jesus, however, others may feel uncomfortable with that and try to make us do things, say things, and think things like they do so that they can feel better. There are many people who speak about tolerance or how tolerant people should be, however, in many cases they are the ones who are the least tolerant of all. Imagine if you could be who you are, I could be who I am, and they could be who they are. Imagine a world that would be without this type of conflict.

God’s Word tells us that we will face challenges. God’s Word tells us to keep working to become more like Jesus. God’s Word warns us to not conform to the world

2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

and to not think of ourselves as better than others.

3Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. 4Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

Romans 12:3-5

God’s Word also tells us to be good examples in how we live. Let’s shine our light of love, of hope, of peace, of faith for all the world to see.

11Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

3 John 1:11

So let’s be imitators of Jesus and love everyone we meet, have compassion on those around us, provide for those around us in need, without judgment and without fear. Let’s shine for God so that others will glorify our Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ.

We don’t need to be afraid to go and to pursue the will of God, for God will go before You to prepare in advance the good works He has for each of us to do. So let’s use this day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it, and bless those we will meet in this journey of life.

365 Fear Nots: Verse Of The Day

Biblical Truth:

Be on the same path that is acceptable to God and take comfort in knowing that He goes before us.

11Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

3 John 1:11

Prayer Starter:

Holy Spirit, keep me from falling into the trap of conforming to the world’s mold. Help me to imitate good and live like Christ.

Day 141 of 349

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I praise You Lord for the time we got to spend with my side of the family and look forward to great plans and time ahead as we go to spend time with the other side of the family. Help us Lord to shine for You in and throughout our visit and may the glory of God be with us and around us in a way that will help transform lives and provide hope and joy that is real and comes from You, not because we are force feeding it, but because of who You are and the reality that will be made know to each of them. Lord, I give this day up to You and I ask Lord for You wisdom and discernment so that in and through this day that my thoughts, my words, and my actions will bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
