Don’t put all your trust in people, but rather in God.

They might seem like
they are all in.
They might even act
like they are all in.
But the one place
you can really put you trust
is in God!
He is the only one who is perfect.

Ever put your trust in someone and then end up getting hurt or disappointed? Consider John 2:24-25

It speaks of Jesus’ relationship with His disciples.

It plainly says that Jesus did not trust Himself to them. While He gave Himself to them relationally and lived life with them, He knew that they were not perfect. He understood human nature and He did not trust Himself to them in an unbalanced way.

Consider the level of trust you put into others. Make sure you only give to God what should be God’s as He is the only one who can be truly trusted with everything.

We can go only so far in any human relationship. If we go beyond godly wisdom, we will likely be hurt. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that some people will never hurt us, only to be disappointed when they don’t live up to those standards. No one’s perfect.

The good news is that God is perfect and will not disappoint. He is always loving and good. Don’t give trust to people that belongs to God, but rather, give yourself completely to Him. He alone is trustworthy.

— Notes from today’s devotional

Understanding Human Nature

24 But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew human nature.25 No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.

John 2:24-25

Prayer Starter: (from today’s devotional)

God, no human is perfect, but You are. I won’t give the kind of trust to people that only belongs to You. You will not disappoint. I find comfort today in Your perfection.

Fearful to Fearless

The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.

Mark 4:18-19 (NLT)

Biblical Truth:

Do not be concerned with the pleasures and desires of the world; they are an obstruction to our being deeply rooted in the Word of God.

  2. Thanks for your support. To really trust God requires action. Peter demonstrated his trust by getting out of the boat. When he took his focus away from Jesus, and placed it upon his own abilities, he began to fear for his life.
