is the key
to a clear conscience
to being able to enjoy life more.
Are you feeling like you are being held back? Needing more confidence? Looking for a way to live happy and free?
It’s critical to keep your conscience clear because nothing will keep you from enjoying life as much as guilt.
In Acts, Paul said that he pursued discipline and avoided worldly desires so that he could walk blameless and guilt-free before God. The same applies to us. Walking in the confidence of a clear conscience will keep us free and happy.
Stuck in the grey areas and wondering what to do? Want some certainty about what to do so you won’t be stuck feeling guilty or have a clear conscious?
That sounds easy when it comes to clear-cut, right and wrong issues, but what about the ‘gray’ areas of life? How do we keep our conscience clear when we’re unsure what the right or wrong choice is? What if we accidentally sin without realizing it? I’ve found that God’s discernment solves this problem.
Discernment is spiritual understanding, and it’s the key to living with a clear conscience. It takes practice, but it simply involves paying attention to your heart. God will let you know when you shouldn’t do something that will bring guilt later on.
Turning to God and asking for discernment about the decision and then listening to that still quiet voice that prompts you to do what is right will keep you on the straight and narrow and keep you from the guilt later.
I encourage you to live in a way that will keep your conscience clear. Don’t do things you know you shouldn’t, and rely on God’s discernment when you’re facing an issue you’re not sure about. He will never lead you wrong.
— Notes from today’s devotional —
Discernment Is the Key to a Clear Conscience
16 Because of this, I always try to maintain a clear conscience before God and all people.
God, thank You for Your discernment. Help me to pay attention to Your still, small voice speaking to my heart so I can live in a way that will keep my conscience free and clear before You.
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew 6:25-26 (AMP)
God is able to provide for all our needs and guard against evil. If we choose to trust in Him instead of worrying about things of the world it is better for our souls.
Day 368 of 365
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I praise You Lord for being the truth that shines before me, the light that guides me, the truth that encourages me, and the hope that never fails. Lord, I lift this day up to You and ask for wisdom and discernment Lord so that in all I day, all I think, and all I say, it will allow me to live a life that is guilt free. Lord, guide my steps I pray as I plan and purpose to accomplish Your will. Help me I pray to be a good ambassador for You and to share Your love, Your truth, Your hope, and Your plans with those around me. Lord, You are the one and the only truth that can save us not only from ourselves, but Lord from the lies of the devil and the world. As I start this day, I ask Lord You go before me to prepare in advance the work You have for me and to come behind me to cover my back and keep me under the cover of Your wings of safety. Lord, may all I think, say and do today, bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
