Where are you paying attention? Focus on your own work so that you get satisfaction of a job well done.

Don’t be focusing on
or comparing yourself
to anyone else.

Focusing on or comparing yourself to others distracts and can frustrate or can make you feel unworthy of the blessings God desires to give you. So refrain from comparing yourself to anyone else. We were each put on earth with a purpose defined by God. We aren’t supposed to be the same and so comparing ourselves with them is unfair to both us and them.  It’s unfair to them because we can start having feelings or resentment towards them that they didn’t instigate or deserve because we start to be jealous of what they have, what they know, how they look, etc. When that happens we end up in a place where we can no longer appreciate them as the wonderful people God made them to be. It’s unfair to us because it limits God’s plan for our lives too. God has great plans for each of us and by comparing we are limiting ourselves to those specific areas and nothing else by wanting to be like that person rather than allowing God’s grace and mercy, wisdom and power, to flow into our lives and do even greater things. God’s Word tells us that in Proverbs 3:5

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

and in Ephesians 3:20

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

So we see that not only can He do more, but “infinitely more" than we can ask or imagine. We need to see beyond ourselves and focus on Him. So stop looking at and comparing what His plan for others is and focus on Him and what His plans for you are so that you can receive the blessings they bring.

God Has a Great Plan Just for You!

4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.

Galatians 6:4

Prayer Starter: (from today’s devotional)

Holy Spirit, help me to examine my heart honestly and expose any jealousy, resentment or frustration in me that has developed from comparing myself to others. I want to be all that You want me to be and live the life You have for me.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I praise You Lord that You have great and mighty plans for me and that in and through You all things are possible. Grant me wisdom Lord this day to do what You are calling me to do and to accomplish what You are asking of me. Lord, grant me vision for where I am to go and who I am to bring. Lord, grant me strength to persevere and to press in to all that You have for me to do. Continue Lord I pray to draw my focus and attention to You so that in all I think, say, and do, that You will receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fearful to Fearless

The Lord says this to me: “When a lion or a lion’s cub kills an animal to eat, it stands over the dead animal and roars. A band of shepherds may be assembled against it, but the lion will not be afraid of their yelling or upset by their noise. So the Lord All-Powerful will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its hill. The Lord All-Powerful will defend Jerusalem like birds flying over their nests. He will defend and save it; he will ‘pass over’ and save Jerusalem.”

Isaiah 31:4-5 (NCV)

Biblical Truth:

God is our protector who is able to tame fear, trust and depend upon Him alone.

Want to win? Win the ultimate battle?

Get God’s Word into your heart,
get beyond just head knowledge,
allow it to
move into Your heart
and drive how you live.

The battle of life is over your soul and having God’s Word in you keeps you from falling prey or believing the lies the devil will try to use to deceive you and lead you off track.

Are you feeling like you are always under something?
Always facing one problem or another?
Missing the victory in your life?

Start to spend more time in God’s Word!

Are you being fed as a child? Hand fed God’s Word by someone else? Are you spending time in God’s Word and hearing and diving into what God’s Word is speaking – to you right now as you read His Word. Are you asking God how does this apply to me rather than just thinking that the Words you are reading today is just some random part of the Bible? Give it a try and be amazed how God can speak to You through His Word and meet you right where you are with the information and encouragement and truth you needed just then. So make reading and spending time in God’s Word a priority in Your life. Consider what you are doing with your time and what you are allowing into your mind and heart throughout the day. Consider your time while you are getting ready for the day. Consider your time as you drive to and from work. Consider your time as you are getting ready for bed. Consider your time as you take a walk at lunch or after dinner. How are you spending your time and could you be using that time to speak out God’s Word, be worshipping through song, reading God’s Word, praying?

So integrate God’s Word into your life.

Pursue His truth on a regular basis.

Give His Word top priority in your life and watch the change.

Know the Word for Yourself

14 I have written to you who are God’s children
because you know the Father.
I have written to you who are mature in the faith
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I have written to you who are young in the faith
because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts,
and you have won your battle with the evil one.

1 John 2:14

Prayer Starter: ( from today’s devotional )

Lord, I want to fully integrate Your Word into my life. I don’t just want to hear someone tell me the Word once a week, I want to know it for myself. Lead me and give me ideas to pursue Your Word consistently.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that was within it. I praise You Lord that You make a way even when there doesn’t seem to be one. You use Your Word to encourage me, correct me, strengthen me, and build me. Lord, as I read and hear Your Word I fill my heart getting filled to overflowing. Help me Lord to take the overflow and to those around me and allow it to help them to be encouraged too. Lord, You are the God of the overflow, so I pray that You would allow me to be a vessel that You can use to fill others up. I pray that You will allow me to be a hose that You are able to flow through into the lives of many. Lord, let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in and through me so that You may receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fearful to Fearless

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:2 (KJV)

Biblical Truth:

God is our strength and confidence; we give thankful praises and look to Him for comfort during times of trouble.

Ever finding bad thoughts in your head and wondering what to do about it?

Accept right thoughts.

Bind and rebuke bad thoughts.

In doing this you will find
power and freedom and hope.

Wondering how to know where a thought lines up?
Compare it against God’s Word!

Not sure what that means? How about an example?

Someone hurts your feelings. Thoughts about that start to dwell in your mind.

God’s Word says we are to forgive and to continue to forgive.

  • Matthew 6:15 (NLT)

But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

  • Colossians 3:13 (NLT)

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

  • Luke 6:37 (NLT)

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.

  • Matthew 18:22 (NLT)

“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

Today’s devotional by Joyce Meyer’s expands with real description of how we can use this knowledge and wisdom to find peace and joy.

You shouldn’t remain upset with them for days on end. That only gives Satan the opportunity to plant seeds of bitterness.

Instead, you need to reject negative thinking and refuse to let it drain you of your peace and joy.

You must turn to God and say, "Father, I need Your strength. By faith I choose to receive Your grace so that I may forgive those who mistreated or wronged me. I ask You to bless them and help me go on with my life. In Jesus’ name, amen."

As our minds are renewed with God’s Word, our thinking will change and line up with Scripture. Then, day by day, godly boundaries around our thoughts will be established and reinforced. These limits will not only keep out the deceptions of the enemy, but help you live a more enjoyable, godly life.

— Notes from today’s devotional

Accept the Right Thoughts

5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:5

Prayer Starter: ( from today’s devotional )

Lord, I only want to accept the right thoughts. Alert me when the enemy brings a bad thought my way so that I can take it captive into obedience to You.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that is within it. I praise You Lord for the opportunities and the wisdom that You speak into my life through Your Word and through others. Keep me close to You Lord that each step will be taken in alignment with You and Your will. Help me Lord to take all that You give me and to use it and multiply it that You will get a good return for the investment You have made in me. Lord, help me to to formulate the right words to express and explain the great ideas and plans You have for me. Lord, help me to be an example and be able to share and express that hope in me that comes from You. Lord, help my priorities be based on Your priorities and to help others to come to know who You are and the incredible power and promise and peace and purpose the comes from having a living and loving relationship with You. Today Lord may my thoughts, my words, my actions all bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fearful to Fearless

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isaiah 11:2-3 (KJV)

Biblical Truth:

All the gifts and grace of the Holy Spirit abide in Christ, our counselor. He is our example of courage and truth in advancing the gospel and our encouragement in the worshiping the Lord.

    Day 305 of 365

  • Matthew 20
    • First will be last, Last will be first.
  • Matthew 21
    • Enter victoriously and successfully.
    • Have faith and don’t doubt.
    • Is it better to say yes and not go or to say no but then go anyways?

Do you realize all that you have to offer?

Put into action
your generosity
that comes from your faith.

Understand and Experience all the good things
we have in Christ.

Ever notice who your biggest critic is?
Ever wonder why you aren’t your biggest fan?

God wants us to like who we are – He loves us so much and has given us many gifts and talents to be able to use and enjoy.

Today’s devotional give 5 practical tips from Joyce Meyers to help increase your self-acceptance and improve your opinion of yourself:

1. Never speak negatively about yourself.
The communication of your faith is made effectual by acknowledging every good thing in you through Christ Jesus, not by focusing on the wrong.

2. Avoid comparing yourself to others.
Peter encountered this obstacle when he compared himself to another disciple. He said, "Lord, what about this man? Jesus replied, If I want him to stay (survive, live) until I come, what is that to you?…" (John 21:21-22 AMP).
We are not called to compare, only to comply.

3. Let God determine your worth.
Remember that you have already been accepted by God.

4. Keep your flaws in perspective.
It’s ok to see where you want to improve, but make sure you appreciate your progress.

5. Discover the true source of confidence.
If you place your confidence in God, you can’t help but have a healthy attitude.
Do your best, and leave the results to Him.

(Notes from today’s devotional)

Increase Your Self-Acceptance

6 And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.

Philemon 1:6

Prayer Starter: (from today’s devotional)

God, thank You for accepting me even when I have trouble accepting myself. Help me to acknowledge the good qualities You’ve given me and keep my flaws in perspective as I find my confidence in You.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this day and for the incredible plans You have in them and how You will work all things for good as You promised in Your Word. Lord, I lift up my family as we wait on You as we look to sell our home and find a new one. Help us Lord to be patient as we wait for Your perfect timing. Grant us wisdom Lord to know. I lift up my work to You Lord along with my co-workers and ask Lord that You will give us wisdom and discernment, the words to speak and those to keep. Grant us favor and direction so that we may Lord be the people You have created us to be and so that we don’t walk in fear or doubt, but walk with a trust and peace that go beyond understanding because You are in control. Lord, I lift up my church as change is coming and ask Lord that You keep Your hand over it. Bless the pastors who have been and have moved on and those who are and will stay and for those who You are sending to help carry the load and lead the charge as we press forward with You to become all that You desire in and through us as a part of the body of Christ. Lord, I lift up my friends and neighbors Lord for You know where they are at today and I ask that You be with them. Grant them peace in their challenges. Grant them faith to overcome their fear and doubt. Grant them hope to press on and know that everything is going to be ok. Lord, may this day be one that will bring You all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fearful to Fearless

So this is what the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, says: “O my people in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrians when they oppress you with rod and club as the Egyptians did long ago. In a little while my anger against you will end, and then my anger will rise up to destroy them.”

Isaiah 10:24-25 (NLT)

Biblical Truth:

Be encouraged and give thanks for Gods forgiving comfort, for the sources of our fear are ultimately crushed. We have no need to fear anything that can do no more than frighten us.

Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Jesus left a crimson stain that washed me white as snow.

It’s not because of
what I do or can do
that I can say
I am good enough,
but because of
what Jesus has already done
for me.

The Spirit working in me and through me help me to receive God’s grace and mercy, for I know that I haven’t been saved by my works, but by grace through faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I also know that the reason I serve and work is to help demonstrate the work that has and continues to be done in and through my life by God’s hand extended. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Where do you stand?
Do you like yourself?
Do you realize how much God loves you?

What are you doing about it? Are you spending your time trying to change yourself? Are you changing or just stressing yourself out while allowing the devil to keep poking and prodding you with the lies that you aren’t good enough, that you should feel guilty for who you are and what he tells you that you should be doing? Is that making you even feel worse?

Let’s grab onto the unchangeable, immovable, truth that comes from God’s Word and see what it says and tells us. Let’s consider what Isaiah 53 tells us. “We read that Jesus died once and for all for our sins. He also bore our guilt and our shame. He loved us so much that He paid the price so we wouldn’t have to suffer with the terrible feelings of condemnation. If we go to God and sincerely ask Him for forgiveness, He does, we are as forgiven as we will ever be, it is dealt with and God has taken care of it, there is no reason from that moment forward with condemnation.”

So who are you going to believe?
God’s Word – a love letter to you.
Lies of the devil, the enemy of your soul who doesn’t want you to be able to find true peace and hope and love.

Closing from today’s devotional from Joyce Meyer’s:

“God loves you, and He wants you to believe it and receive it all the time. He also wants you to be free from condemnation. But it takes faith and boldness to be free. God say you are good enough. Accept that today and live a life of victory.”

(Notes/quotes/paraphrases from today’s devotional)

Good Enough

11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins.

Isaiah 53:11 (NLT)

Prayer Starter: (from today’s devotional)

God, Your Son has taken my guilt and punishment and made me good enough. I believe that today, and I refuse to live with the burden of condemnation. I ask for and receive Your forgiveness for my sins.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this new day and for all that is within it. I praise You Lord for the incredible step even before I was born to set into motion a way for me to be reconciled back into Your hands. Lord search me and reveal to me areas that continue to need work, and forgive me Lord for the things I have done that I shouldn’t have or the things that I didn’t do that I should have. Lord, this is a day that I want You to be glorified through and I know Lord that with You all things are possible. Nothing is too big for my God and Lord You see the LARGE load that I am trying to carry and move. Help me today in the things I do, the things I think, and the things I say Lord to move forward for the glory of Your Kingdom with another testimony of Your greatness and Your great love. Lord, I lift up my brothers and sisters in Christ who are also being put into situations with an overload and ask Lord that You provide them protection and strength, wisdom and discernment so that the right things get done in the right order and the deliverables that are necessary to get all that You have for us to do get accomplished and You help us Lord to find a way for the other work to be taken care of. Lord, You are so incredible and knowing from Your Word all that You have done in advance for me and that You gave so much so that I could know that I am good enough because of what Jesus has done for me is such an incredible truth that builds up confidence and hope while at the same is a humbling fact. Help me Lord to be a humble servant today so that others may come to know You more and that You may receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Fearful to Fearless

With his great power the LORD warned me not to follow the road which the people were following. He said, “Do not join in the schemes of the people and do not be afraid of the things that they fear. Remember that I, the LORD Almighty, am holy; I am the one you must fear.”

Isaiah 8:11-13 (GNT)

Biblical Truth:

The Lord is our Maker, make Him the object of your fear and stand in awe of His supreme power, which overshadows the fear of our enemies.
