God doesn’t want us
to be focusing
on being victims,
to walk in the spirit of
love, and self-discipline
He has provided us.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7
He reveals in His Word that He came that we would have life to the full.
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
God’s Word also tells us we aren’t to be walking in cowardice and fear, but rather
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Don’t be someone who thinks they are supposed to live a life of suffering that produces in you a victim mentality.
Yes, in this world we will have troubles, but Jesus overcame the world so we are to have hope, joy, peace, love. God isn’t glorified when we are suffering, he is glorified when we have a good attitude during our suffering.
HE wants us to be VICTORIOUS!
“So why would we choose to remain bitter, angry and wounded or depressed?”
As I remember a year ago, the way to get beyond being bitter, angry, wounded, and depressed was through the power of forgiveness. It got me beyond being a victim to becoming a victor in a very quick process. God took care of my heart which freed me to walk into the new and improved things that God had for me. My attitude changed even though what I walked into hadn’t but the output and the outcome was encouraging and stopped the downward spiral. I would never have asked to go through it, however, having gone through it though, I have been prepared to speak life, hope, and truth into the lives of so many of my friends who were being down and depressed. It has prepared me for those battles.
So let’s get excited about our future and realize that going through something with God means that we will come out the other side victoriously that cannot be taken away from us.

2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
Prayer Starter: (from today’s devotional)
God, I need Your help to overcome a victim mentality. I choose to set my mind on things above so that I can have the right attitude. With Your thoughts and truth inside me, I know I can overcome.
I thank You for this day and for the permanent reminder each year at this time of how You took me from the deepest valley and pulled me back up. Lord, the fact that You provided the release, the freedom, and the truth through the son 7×70 and then by speaking to me the freedom that come through forgiveness. Lord tax time will always bring back this reminder and help me to walk in the truth You have spoken into my life. Lord as I step out today, may the thoughts I have, the words I use, and the actions I take bring You all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
Proverbs 12:25 (ESV)
Anxiousness and fear are disabling to our heart and spirit. The prescription is a good word from God, obtained through prayer and put to use in faith.
