New endings and New beginnings.

2011
is drawing to a conclusion. 2012
is just a day away.

It has been an amazing 2011 where God’s hand has sustained me. He has provided me encouragement daily through songs on Spirit 105.3 when I would get into my car after praying through hard days. He provided me hope through His Word every morning. He provided me healing through the truth of forgiveness 7×70. Healed my heart and mind to transform my attitude and view of where I was at. He used my friends to encourage me and to connect me to find a new job. He provide me with a new team with great people. He provided me with a wife who supported me through all of this. He provided me with children who would comfort and love me through all of this. He provided me with 3 weeks of time to close the year with my family to be filled up with love and time.

As we start 2012, I look forward to see what God has planned for my family through our home. I look forward to see what God has planned for my marriage for our anniversary and other 1:1 time. I look forward to see what God has planned for my children – softball for my girls, t-ball for my son, school, what God will do in and through their lives. I look forward to see what God has planned for my work this year too as we start a year of change and transition and how He will use it for His glory and how He will allow my experiences to speak hope, life, and truth in the the team.

2 Peter 3:14

14 So, beloved, since you are expecting these things, be eager to be found by Him [at His coming] without spot or blemish and at peace [in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts].

Life is short, it is but a vapor. When people get the news of how short life is, some people’s lives transform greatly to reprioritize what they are doing, others because they have already prioritized remain the same or similar. Where are you living today?  What if instead of getting bad news about your health you heard that Jesus was returning. How are you living today? Are you living a life that will get everyone you know into heaven? Or have you become lazy and complacent because He hasn’t returned yet? Let’s live in eager expectation of his coming. What would you like to be doing when Jesus comes back? Consider and reflect on that as that is what and how we should be living each day.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this new day and for all that will be in it. I thank You Lord that You give me this time each year to reflect on the past year as well as how my devotional time with You started during this time of year so many years ago. Lord, as I consider the morning of worry or concern, of questions or pondering, and how Lord that You were able to use the various translations to be able to speak into my life each day. Lord, I thank You that You have allowed me to read Your Word through the King James, the New King James, the New International Version, the Amplified, the Message, the New Living Translation, as well as through various study tools from study bible, for leaders, Chronological, online bibles (
crosswalk.com, biblegateway.com, bible.com, biblestudytools.com), and others. Lord, as I look forward to this year to come, I turn to You again for wisdom and vision for the year to come. Help me Lord to prepare for this year that is nearly upon me. Help me to be prepared as a husband, as a father, as a friend, and as you see fit. Help me to find the right study so that each day I will have the message I need to get through each day. Lord, may this be a year that You will find me to be a great steward of the time You give me. Help me Lord to look at the time and resources You have given me and to be able to use them for Your praise, honor, and glory. As I end this year today, may You receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Today – Day 186

Advertisements

When confronted with how long ago did something from the Bible happen, don’t forget how God sees time. He is never early and never late, He is right on time.

God desires that no one
would perish
and
as such is very patient
in waiting for each of us
to turn our lives
back into His hands.
He sent His Son Jesus
so that we could be reconciled to Him
and
would have the chance
at ever lasting life,
not to punish us.
So if you haven’t yet,
turn back to God.

2 Peter 3:8-9

8 Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.

God may have seemed slow to these believers as they faced persecution every day and longed to be delivered. But God is not slow; he just is not on our timetable. Jesus is waiting so that more sinners will repent and turn to him. We must not sit and wait for Christ to return, but we should live with the realization that time is short and that we have important work to do. Be ready to meet Christ any time, even today; yet plan your course of service as though he may not return for many years.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I thank You Lord for the time with my family including the special visit with my parents, sister, and brother-in-law. I thank You Lord for Your Word that speaks truth and hope into my life. Lord, as I received the new of an offer being put onto the home that I thought You had desired we buy, it created a question of I wonder what You have in store for me as I look to downsize and become a better steward with all that You provide for me. Grant me wisdom today Lord that I can know what the next steps You have in store for me. Help me Lord today to make time and take time to plan for this coming year and all that You desire and have in store for me.  Help me Lord to be a good disciple, ambassador, and steward for You. Lord, I lift up my family and friends to You giving them into Your hands and asking that You keep them under Your wing of protection. And Lord may You receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Verse of the Day

14 The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).

2 Corinthians 13:14

Today – Day 185

  • 2 Kings 9
    • God’s plans for you are larger than you could have asked or imagined.
    • Are you willing to to do and go after the big dreams and visions and plans God has for you?
  • 2 Kings 10
    • Know that nothing that the Lord speaks shall be unfulfilled or ineffective.
    • Do you have enthusiasm, passion, fanaticism, fervor, keenness, eagerness, and intensity for God?
    • There is a reward for those who will pursue after the Lord.
  • 2 Kings 11
    • When all things seem hopeless where will you turn? Where will you find hope, protection, and a future?
    • TURN TO GOD!

People will scoff at your faith, but stand strong and firm trusting what God has promised you.

People will try
to mock you, showing
contempt and ridicule
because of your faith.
They may speak
with sarcasm
or even cynically
about your faith.
Stand strong
knowing that Jesus spoke
that He would return
and
that He will keep His word.
The last days
is the time between
Jesus’ first & second coming.
There is work
that we have been
called to do,
so let’s step out
in faith believing
that He will complete
the work
that He has begun in us
and
that He will return
as promised.
Look for the signs
and don’t be caught unaware.

2 Peter 3:3-4

3 To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing, [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires4 And say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You for this new day and for all that is within it. I reflect on the years of blogging that have been triggered by a deep conversation where You spoke to me to that I should be making it a public blog and that I should be sharing Your hope and love through it. You also spoke to me about the end times and the urgency of speaking Your hope and love to others even to the point of the title being FROM 2005 TO ETERNITY. Lord, You even encouraged me to not do it out of fear, but out of faith. You reminded me to fear not, just believe. You guided me by plugging me into a place where the importance of discipleship, embracing and loving others where they are at, and outreaching to others are key and important and keys to growth. As You allowed me to step out in faith, I was able to grow and develop. As I look to today Lord and as 2011 is coming to an end, I look to You for wisdom and discernment as I prepare for what is to come today and plan for 2012. Lord, help me to be the husband my wife needs. Lord, help me to be the father that each of my children’s individual needs. Lord, help me to be the friend and coworker that each of my friends needs me to be in their lives. Lord, help me to be the servant at church that You need me to be to build up and develop Your people. Lord, as I am about to turn to Your Word, speak to me wisdom and direction I need to be successful for Your plans today that You may receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Verse of the Day

1 BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

1 John 4:1

Chronological

Today – Day 184

  • 2 Kings 5
    • Facing something bigger than yourself?
    • Wondering how you can ever get past it, over it, around it?
    • What will you do if you are told you need to do work for the miracle to take place in your life?
    • What if it was something so small to make it all better?
    • Would you be insulted by such a request?
    • What if it was something big and superb that was requested?
    • Would that make it all worthwhile?
    • God doesn’t need our money to get His work done.
    • Out of the overflow of our hearts we may choose to be a part of what He is doing and give without regrets but out of love.
    • Don’t be one who manipulates good deeds of God for your own purposes
    • Don’t lie about it when you are caught for you will have to deal with your consequences, how many problems do you want to have to face.
  • 2 Kings 6
    • How much will you believe? How much will you ask? If something goes wrong, where will you turn?
    • Will you make sure that the Spirit of God goes where you go?

1 THE SONS of the prophets said to Elisha, Look now, the place where we live before you is too small for us.2 Let us go to the Jordan, and each man get there a [house] beam; and let us make us a place there where we may dwell. And he answered, Go.3 One said, Be pleased to go with your servants. He answered, I will go.4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.5 But as one was felling his beam, the axhead fell into the water; and he cried, Alas, my master, for it was borrowed!6 The man of God said, Where did it fall? When shown the place, Elisha cut off a stick and threw it in there, and the iron floated.7 He said, Pick it up. And he put out his hand and took it.

    • When God is on your side, you will know things that haven’t been spoken to you and have wisdom and discernment that will confuse and amaze your opposition and others.
    • Facing a large issue, a large attack, a large offense? Don’t be afraid, fear not, for the battle is the Lords. Nothing is too big for God. Greater is He that is with us that he that is in the world.

13 He said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him. And it was told him, He is in Dothan.14 So [the Syrian king] sent there horses, chariots, and a great army. They came by night and surrounded the city.15 When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha’s servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do?16 [Elisha] answered, Fear not; for those with us are more than those with them.17 Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.18 And when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, Smite this people with blindness, I pray You. And God smote them with blindness, as Elisha asked.19 Elisha said to the Syrians, This is not the way or the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. And he led them to Samaria.20 And when they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, Lord, open the eyes of these men that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw. Behold, they were in the midst of Samaria!21 When the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, My father, shall I slay them? Shall I slay them?22 [Elisha] answered, You shall not slay them. Would you slay those you have taken captive with your sword and bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and return to their master.23 So [the king] prepared great provision for them, and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

  • 2 Kings 7
    • God goes before you and can make a way even when there doesn’t seem to be a way
    • What are you going to do with the good news?
    • Will you keep silent or speak up?
    • Will you just take your fill and keep gathering and hiding it in the darkness?
    • Will you share it with others?
  • 2 Kings 8
    • God knows what is coming and will help you prepare in advance
    • Will you be obedient to the call and direction of the Lord
    • Will you reap the rewards of your obedience

Be diligent in exercising your faith to develop virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly love, and Christian love.

Don’t let yourself
become idle or unfruitful
so that you can grow
in knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Don’t lack these qualities
or
you will grow
blind and shortsighted
only seeing what is near
and
becoming oblivious
to the facts of being cleansed
from our old sins
by the blood of Jesus.
Don’t grow complacent
by listening to false teachings
and
believe that because we are saved by grace
through faith in Jesus
that you are able
to live anyway you want.
We are to live a life
that proves
that we have been saved
by the work we do.
Work on developing
these qualities
so that others will know
that you are His.
Let your actions
prove what you say
and
your claims about God
and
then you will never be
led astray by the lure
of false teaching
or
glamorous sin.

2 Peter 1:10

10 Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that is within it. I praise Your wisdom and Your perfect timing knowing that in your time Your plan will come to fruition. As I consider the sale of my home and the purchase of a new one, I ask Lord that You will provide me hope and patience to the timing and possibility of the purchase and move aligning. Lord, You know the beginning from the end and You know what we have done in lowering our price to help sell it and at the same time you have lowered the price on the house we are looking to buy. Lord, my hope and trust are in You. Please bring a buyer so that we can in time get the other home. Lord, my hope and trust are in You. I will walk by faith and not by sight. I will look to You knowing what You have done in my past and trusting in You for my future. Lord, there is nothing that is too big for or to hard for You. Help me today to live a life that will bring You praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Verse of the Day

33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Matthew 6:33

Chronological

Today – Day 183

  • 2 Kings 1
    • Who will you turn to when you are in trouble?
    • If you turn to something other than God and you get a back report from the man of God what would you do?
  • 2 Kings 2
    • If you knew you had but a few moments left before the Lord was to take away someone dear from you, would you make every effort to spend time with them?
    • On their death bed, if they asked you what you would desire from them what is it that you would say?
    • What mantle are you or will you be carrying?
    • By God’s power and cleansing healing of nature and man is possible.
  • 2 Kings 3
    • People are watching what you are doing and saying. Don’t do or say things that will lead them into sin
    • When you find yourself in a tough position after going your own way, will you turn to God for answers? Will you remember and turn to God first next time?
    • With God on your side nothing can be against you.
  • 2 Kings 4
    • Looking for God to help make it happen? What do you have in your house? Will your answer be something like “nothing but…”
    • How big is your faith? When will you stop getting containers to hold what you have? God’s vision is big enough for our circumstances.
    • Make sure to close out naysayers who may try to breakdown or rip up your faith
    • If you lift it up to God, He can take what you have and multiply it to meet your needs
    • God has provided for you, will you provide for others?
    • God will make sure that there is enough for them and even an overflow to meet your needs.

In this world we will have troubles.

Consider it all joy
when you are
being persecuted
for preaching
the Good News.
It is a mark of
God’s approval of your work.
Don’t seek out suffering
though,

just don’t try
to avoid it either.
Do what is right,
regardless of suffering
that may appear.
God won’t give us more
than we can handle.

Take heart
for Jesus has overcome
the world.

1 Peter 4:16

16 But if [one is ill-treated and suffers] as a Christian [which he is contemptuously called], let him not be ashamed, but give glory to God that he is [deemed worthy to suffer] in this name.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You Lord for this new day and for all that will be in it. I thank You for sending another family to come and view our home. I thank You Lord for the time we get to spend as a family and ask that You bless our time together today. I look forward to You knowing and trusting in Your guidance and wisdom for every situation of every day. I know that I don’t know it all, but I know and trust  that You do – the beginning from the end. As I turn to Your Word today, speak to me of things to be done and of the timing You have orchestrated to accomplish Your will in my life. Lord help me to be light into this world that shines for You. Help me to speak in love and hope to others that I would be a reflection of the light of Jesus in my life towards them that they would be pointed back to You, the source of it all. You have provided me so many experiences, so much evidence over the years that Lord, You have taken my small faith, smaller than a mustard seed and grown it to where I am today. My hope and trust are in You and I ask Lord that in all I say and all I do, You may receive all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Verse of the Day

8 If indeed you [really] fulfill the royal Law in accordance with the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as [you love] yourself, you do well.

Today – Day 182

  • Obadiah 1
    • Where will you put your trust and confidence?
    • Do you think you are above God? Do you think you have all the answers?
    • Is your trust and confidence in the wisdom of men? in the strength of men?
    • Are you one who is reaching out to help?
    • Are you one who is reaching out with delight when people are going through calamity and ruin?
    • If you consider do onto others what you would would want them to do to you, what would be done to you if others did what you did to them?
